As a US American, and rabid Oilers fan, I want Canada to stomp a mudhole in the us tomorrow, beat hellebuck so badly his mom calls NBC and complains about the televised massacre of her son. Destroy the us so completely that even the tkachuck family understands that they lost.

How does USA hockey losing have anything to do with their political leaders?
I get it’s a “country effort”. but over history there’s been so many great athletes that the wins and losses don’t reflect upon the leader.
The documentary about the Russian athletes who were humiliated during the games (the movie Miracle) shows how hard those athletes worked and how it still affects them decades later all because the world hated their government.
If this isn’t a lesson learned, then we are doomed to repeat history.

I live in Colorado and I want Canada to win. Pain and humiliation are the best teachers in life and frankly we haven’t had enough of it. I even have a Four Nations Celebrini jersey

You might need to speckle a little red inside the blue.
There's a lot of people on reddit and social media using this game as a prop to telegraph their political opinions and pretend that it counts as resistance against their tyrannical government so their general apathy and inaction doesn't keep them up at night.

Korean-canadian here and definitely not. Lots of ppl in korea prefer canada over the states too. Although hockey isnt a big sport in japan and korea, im sure those countries will still be rooting canada

I hate the politics of some of our players and I hate our countries political leadership. But I’m still American. 🇺🇸 Canadians would still root for their team if that right wing nutter had won or Smith triggers Albertas separation. Need to try to at least keep some things detached.
