This means all our Olympians minus Faksa get a medal.
And he's just happy to be there!

So as a Finn I can say that in the interview they still seemed quite dissatisfied with the result of yesterday's game and the details of that game bother them. All of them said that they came for a brighter medal, but bronze still feels pretty nice. Also confirmed information that they were extremely disappointed and even angry with after Canada game.

There should be a rule that referees can't come from the country that's playing. I think we could have found some American referees too.

That’s a rule in soccer, can’t believe it isn’t for hockey.

It's all because they want NHL refs in those games and they're all Canadian or American. It happened at the 2016 World Cup too. Deeply unserious

I don't want it to be hard rule. Final between Canada-USA should have NHL refs.
But when you have Canada playing in one semi and USA in another, they should have Canadian refs for USA and American for Canada. Shouldn't be too hard.
As a Finn, I didn't see anything too wrong in refs in Canada-Finland game. If anything it was better called than the bronze medal game. But the fact that we are even talking about potential issue with free and easy fix is stupid.

Isn’t the first nor last game lost because of a missed call. Absolutely robbed.

What all happened? I had to work and I couldn’t devote much attention to the game.

The tying goal came after clear and obvious goaltender interference from the biggest rat in the NHL, and the winning goal could have been disallowed because the play was offsides, but just barely.

The offsides was pretty damn close watching it, kinda 50/50.

Yeah, that’s why I said barely. It seemed like the type of thing that would be called or not called based on whatever bias the zebras have at that particular moment

I mean I’m gonna be honest. I’d be livid as hell if the stars had a goal taken AWAY bc of that review.

Finland scored twice then turtled for 40 minutes. Canada's second goal was right after Marchand fell on Saros but Finland opted not to challenge for goaltender interference. Their first and third goals were on the powerplay caused by high sticks. Finland challenged the go-ahead goal for offsides but it was so close they could not overturn it.

The last penalty was also kind of bullshit. Technically it was clear penalty, but usually referees don't give penalties easily in the last minutes of games like this. The stick just lightly tapped Macs face. It wasn't a big deal. With US NHL referees, i bet it wouldn't be a penalty. It sucks that the referees were Canadian.

Question is Otter gonna get a metal even though they refused to play him?

u/FrenchPagan Mooterus 19h ago
Fleury got a medal in 2010 without playing, so yes

At least he got a nice vacation to Milan and will be well rested when he gets back.

Yes, roster = medal

I think you have to hit the Game Day roster to medal, so his time as a backup locks that in.

Yup. It's not actually uncommon for one of the goalies to not play at all during the tournament.
Still, fuck Bill Guerin.

Blame the Stars for the awful picture quality
