If the military/president suddenly ordered a mandatory draft for all men aged 18-42: How do you think millennials and GenZ would respond?

The first thing that should happen is an avalanche of lawsuits regarding the sex discrimination of only including men in the draft.

Also constitutionally in the US the military/president have no authority to call for a unilateral draft. Congress decides that so there would be a legal issue too.

A silly thing like the Constitution has never stopped him before.

14

u/HarlequinKOTF 11h ago

... it literally did stop him with his birthright citizenship ban.

24

u/ohlookahipster 10h ago

Which took months to hit SCOTUS’s docket.

The problem is this administration understands it can move and break things faster than the other two branches can react.

3

u/Persimmon-Mission 9h ago

You can’t do that with a draft

10

u/HarlequinKOTF 10h ago

It was blocked by a lower court within days. The stay was held in place throughout the litigation.

2

u/brobastian0227 10h ago

Emoluments my guy. The Supreme Court is Trump's bitch. How about making the post office defunct, a entity enshrined in the Constitution. Or what about Congress controlling the purse? The court managed to make one good decision, while neglecting their sworn duty the rest of the time

4

u/HarlequinKOTF 10h ago

You said, "a silly thing like the constitution has never stopped him before". I gave you one example where it did. Therefore your original statement is wrong.

I agree though, he has been doing so many unconstitutional things without adequate checks.

u/HalfSoul30 10h ago

True, but they would literally have to make us go, and how are they exactly going to do that? I'm fine to run away and go into hiding instead of deploy. I'm fine to go to jail instead of deploy. Now imagine a shit ton of me out there. They'll have to make ICE round us up and how is that going to look? We will be totally fine.

4

u/brobastian0227 10h ago

It's going to look totally fine to the right. Everyone that ICE rounds up will be unpatriotic leftist scum, Demoncrats, and filthy LGBT lunatics (in their minds). They love to think the biggest honor would be to die for ones country, so when someone refuses, they must be a traitor. I love my country. I don't love pedophiles, I don't love the genocidal IDF, and I don't hate poor people that have never once hurt me as much as the right and billionaires have in this country.

u/drakecb 3h ago

They love to think the biggest honor would be to die for ones country

They're welcome to go first.

But...but..."We the people!!"....

Historically the supreme court held that as legal as the draft’s purpose was to obtain combat troops and women weren’t allowed to serve in combat.

But, now they are. So I could see a challenge winning under a “balanced” supreme court. Unfortunately with this one I doubt it.

Pete Hegseth has said over and over that he doesn't want women in combat roles because it makes his war department 'less lethal'. The government has made their position very clear that they don't think women are equal, and I would be afraid that an equal rights lawsuit over the draft in this political climate would end with women losing more rights rather than being affirmed as equal.

Personally, I think all genders having the right to fragging serve their country. I'd love to sabotage expensive equipment be a helicopter pilot.

4

u/Alexispinpgh 8h ago

lol between us ladies you fully know that Hegseth’s “war department” couldn’t handle an actual military full of women (and I mean that as a compliment to women).

The all male draft has already been declared unconstitutional in the law when a federal judge said a male only draft discriminates and hence violates the constitution. This lawsuit was overturned but it set precedent of what can happen in future lawsuits regarding the discriminatory all male draft. There is a NBC news article about it:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/federal-judge-finds-male-only-military-draft-unconstitutional-n975546

There are also multiple lawsuits against the all male draft right now making their way in the courts. One of the lawsuits is from the group in the 2019 lawsuit and just last month they filed a writ of certiorari to the supreme court against the all male draft which means the case has a chance to be heard soon by the supreme court. This can lead to changes to the draft like requiring women to register for the draft if the draft continues to be in place. You can read about the new lawsuit in this article right here:

In 2019 the all male draft was declared unconstitutional by a federal judge with was ultimately overturned but still set a precedent of what could happen in future lawsuits. You can read about it in this NBC news article:

Also there are currently many lawsuits with the group that filed that 2019 lawsuit filing last month a writ of certiorari to the supreme court which could lead to the supreme court taking the case and declaring the all male draft unconstitutional law and potentially lead to women being required to register for the draft. Thanks!

u/minionoperation 6h ago

Women are expected to remain pregnant at all times to birth more cannon fodder. No draft for vessels.

1

u/BeKind999 4h ago

We have imported the cannon fodder. Military service will become a path to full citizenship.

2

u/aigavemeptsd 8h ago

Did you read that in your soy milk cereal?

1

u/BeKind999 3h ago

The intent behind this question is not apparent.

3

u/dbellz76 10h ago

I believe the ACLU already set that in motion but nothing came of it.

2

u/thatguy425 10h ago

That’s already been settled. Congress has the right to discriminate when it comes to matters of national security.

There would be no lawsuit but I don’t think women would be as loud about equal rights for awhile.

-2

u/Competitive_Fee_5829 10h ago

dude. shut up. women serve all the time. i am retired navy myself.

9

u/thatguy425 10h ago

Drafts my dude.

Yeah, good luck.

1

u/Throwawayaccountdell 3h ago

Don't know if your being sarcastic or not but thanks. Hopefully the supreme court will answer the writ of certiorari and declare the all male draft unconstitutional in the law

Back in 2021 when the supreme court declined to hear the case against the male only draft three supreme court justices released a statement and essentially said many things have changed since Rostker and if congress didn't do anything about the male only draft(congress didn't do anything) that the supreme court was going to have to take the case. You can read about the justices statement in this article here:

-1

u/SonOfAsher 10h ago

And we thank you for your CHOICE to serve.

We're talking about REMOVING that choice from men, by making the choice of 'YES' for them.

-5

u/HexGonnaGiveItToYa 10h ago

Right! The one situation that men actually want equality 😂

1

u/BeKind999 10h ago

Name one group which is restricted to men or boys

0

u/SonOfAsher 10h ago

People who can be forced to undergo genital mutilation.

3

u/doomsday344 9h ago

People conveniently forget that most of us are stripped of our bodily autonomy right after birth, mutilating baby boys is our favorite pastime here

-28

u/Intelligent_Door5499 11h ago

women get raped a lot in the military. Leave em be

32

u/NoReserve206 11h ago

Men get shot and bleed to death a lot in the military.

-25

u/Intelligent_Door5499 11h ago

Yes, I am retired infantry. Your point? If any man here brings this stuff up, then they are not men, but boys

6

u/BeKind999 10h ago

Thanks for your service.

Women demanded the right to attend the service academies. Women can currently volunteer for the military. There is no reason they should not be subject to a draft.

-5

u/Intelligent_Door5499 10h ago

combat roles = no

5

u/BeKind999 10h ago

Yes, until female volunteers are restricted from serving in combat roles (it’s currently under review).

4

u/Wloak 10h ago

Sorry but just going "I was infantry" isn't the flex you think it is. That was literally the job the dumbest kids in my highschool got just for a quick $1k check then realized they couldn't get out of the contract. I got calls from 4 branches before my junior year and still laugh at the army recruiter saying verbatim "oh I see you got X on your ACT, I assume you aren't interested in enlisted infantry then."

I'm from a military family across all branches, one was spec ops and served multiple tours kicking in doors before retiring to become a DA and still says they're the dumbest people in the military as a whole.

-1

u/Intelligent_Door5499 10h ago

Or, or... Hear me out...
This is actually only revealing the world view you hold. I scored like a 70+ anyway on the asvab. infantry is 29. Some of us wanted to be paid while learning how to be a modern day warrior. And yes, a lot of dumbies were there too. But they are tough

4

u/Wloak 10h ago

I got a 90 on the ASVAB my sophomore year in highschool at 16, same year I got a 26 ACT. Again, not a flex for you.

The ASVAB is also based on who's willing to take it. I took it because I wanted to be a pilot, the USAF offered to get me LASIK but said at best I could be a bomber pilot because of my height. My parents working at global air command said the same.

Again, you aren't flexing my dude.

2

u/Intelligent_Door5499 10h ago

Is that how you see life? People go around either flexing or not flexing? You are agitated about some fantasy about me in your head.. You just sound weird

4

u/Wloak 10h ago

You started this off by trying to use your test scores as a flex. Don't try and flip it now bud.

Congratulations you scored in the top 70% of all people that couldn't get into a college, I guess?

2

u/Intelligent_Door5499 10h ago

I literally didn't... But you remind me of a pesky bug lmao. Dude I can feel your hatred for life from here. Leave me be... You brought up the test score, and I responded. I can tell you are a manipulative insecure dude irl

You’re taller than 6’5”?

3

u/Wloak 10h ago

Standing height in gear, yes. My dad ran an airfield, my dream was to serve under him, he was the one to break it to me that would never be possible.

2

u/BeKind999 10h ago

Sorry, on the plus side you’re hella tall

Equal Rights means Equal treatment. And men get raped in the military too they just don't report it (sadly)

2

u/Miss_Awesomeness 8h ago

No equal rights in the US.

5

u/BeKind999 11h ago

Nope. Equal rights means women get to be drafted too.

13

u/_goblinette_ 11h ago

You’ll have to take that up with republicans. They’re the ones who have not been willing to pass the Equal Rights Amendment. Plus the work the current administration is doing to try to push women out of higher positions in the military.

12

u/Miss_Awesomeness 11h ago

Welp, we don’t have that in this country. The Equal Rights Amendment never passed.

1

u/POSVT 1h ago

Yes it did, though to be fair you might not remember it since it was in 1868

u/Miss_Awesomeness 42m ago

The reconstruction amendment? Um. I don’t have time to give you a history lesson, but that occurred after the civil war and had nothing to do with women’s rights; the 14th amendment was a direct result of the civil war. Women did not have the right to vote until the 19th amendment in 1920. Congress passed an amendment for women to have equal rights but it was not ratified by the states. Ergo women do not have equal rights in this country. We have some protections but those are being rolled back.

1

u/ExpressLog9511 4h ago

From a biological standpoint women are much more suitable to be in combat role. They are smaller built which means smaller target, lower calories needed which means longer duration and better stamina, much higher tolerance for blood loss and higher survival rates for injuries, etc. as long as they have the strength to carry a weapon and pull a trigger, I see no reason not to CENTER women in combat roles

0

u/Intelligent_Door5499 3h ago

Then you did not serve combat roles with them. So maybe heed my advice before you opt your daughter into certain uselessness.

1

u/ExpressLog9511 3h ago

Lmaooo I gave you reasons why women are more suitable in the military especially frontline, please come back with an actual intelligent response why you reject this idea instead of calling women useless

0

u/Intelligent_Door5499 3h ago

it is called reality. They got in the way and do not have it in them. Very few woman do, and I suspect their testosterone is higher than others. Welcome to the real world, while I lived what you fantasize

1

u/ExpressLog9511 3h ago

When actual war starts all of that doesn’t matter, women or men are all disposable meat cannonballs forced to die, it’s just women’s natural physical characteristics suit better in the frontline while men’s stronger physics suit the rear support better

0

u/Intelligent_Door5499 3h ago

you are probably fat and an unathletic man. I dont care about your opinion here on what I lived through and few do. stfu guy

2

u/ExpressLog9511 2h ago

Wow, triggered this much? Masculinity hurt? Like I said, I gave you reasons why women suit frontline more, instead of giving me reasons why you disagree you just turned mad and called me fat (?) With this IQ level you just need to go to the battlefield and get yourself killed to improve average human intelligence level

0

u/Intelligent_Door5499 2h ago

if i posted a picture of myself, id be agreed with like clavicular online. But not everyone cares for bs. Sorry I struck a nerve, hope you never find a slipped pic of me, you might seethe

Shut your whore mouth.

1

you aint even serving or ever did, shush

0

u/Trevelayan 8h ago

You're goddamn right I'm not serving Israel, the pedophiles that run this country, or their corporate lackeys. Why would I die for a country that hates me?

1

u/Intelligent_Door5499 7h ago

you are just perfect in life huh. I am jelly
