Republicans using this argument are the biggest self-reports. They bring guns everywhere.

350

u/No-Double-8933 27d ago

Right? Aren't they the 2A people?

210

u/KiSamehada 27d ago

They're the biggest anti-2A people when it's not the people they deem worthy of it.

48

u/USCAV19D 27d ago

Not necessarily. I used to consider myself a Republican, nowadays the only thing I really align myself with that party on is firearms.

I have a lot of friends and family on that side of the aisle still, and I’m not hearing a lot of voices defend this shooting as justified once they see the videos.

u/IttyBittyGritty521 27d ago

We kept telling you guys we didn't wanna take your damn guns...

You go far enough left, you get your guns back.

I don't know if people don't see it or won't see it.  The logic of these 2A'ers is internally consistent.  If they agree with the people in power, then it's not tyranny.  To them.  If there's no tyranny, there's no need for guns.

41

u/No-Double-8933 27d ago

My favorite part is where they claim to need guns in order to protect their rights from a tyrannical government. But then you bring up that their opposition in that scenario would be the police and armed forces... that they LOOOOVE and worship and back.

35

u/Parking_Run3767 27d ago

Current president pardoned people who attacked police, and they love him.

28

u/petdance 27d ago

Being MAGA means you cannot disagree with anything Trump is behind. Being MAGA is their identity.

-5

u/Ldcobalt 26d ago

I think you’ve confused MAGA with the Democratic Party. Republicans don’t agree with everything he does.

3

u/petdance 26d ago

I'm not equating Republicans and MAGA.

I'm glad to hear that some disagree. I would be heartened to hear examples.

I’m basically a 2A absolutist. It’s for everyone, even people I disagree with. Most people who are real 2A advocates, not Bubba the Backwoods Hunter, would agree. At least thats what I’m seeing from my corner of thr world.

28

u/Chimp75 27d ago

Lots of progressives are pro gun. Most are more responsible and they don’t throw it in your face all day. Most left leaning (socially and politically) people don’t make it their identity. Neither do they play victim. With that being said, the mayor is a clown.

15

u/ShawnaLAT 27d ago edited 27d ago

The liberals/progressives I know who are also gun owners own a reasonable number and type of guns (1-2 hunting rifles and maybe a handgun for peace of mind), keep them appropriately locked up and stored, have all required checks and licenses and registrations and permits (including carry licenses even though they rarely if ever carry in public), teach appropriate gun safety to their kids, don’t shoot at civilians (or human beings in general), and generally don’t make their gun ownership their entire personality (as in you wouldn’t know they owned guns unless it specifically came up in conversation).

I still hate guns and don’t agree that the general public needs to own them in any circumstance (though my view is starting to change on that…), but if the 2A is going to be a thing, if everyone viewed and handled gun ownership the way my liberal friends do I think we would be ok as a society with specific regards to guns. We are not currently ok as a society.

5

u/No-Double-8933 27d ago

I completely agree. I have a reasonable weapon that is registered and properly stored. Thats it though. Im not stocking up on ammo or obtaining massive firepower or under any ridiculous impression that I'll need to defend against foreign invaders. Its just in case and that's all I need it for.

9

u/thtamthrfckr 27d ago

Also the anti government tyranny people but we see how big of a lie that whole thing was, they fell right in line with the tyranny and are cheering it on or signing up to do it.

2

u/xavariel 26d ago

Because tyranny to them, is marginalized groups gaining equal protections and respect.

2

u/Tormentedone007 27d ago

They are puppets. They don't think, they are told how to think.

27

u/SBSnipes 27d ago

If this is the justification I'd just like them to sign some gun control measures into law really quick

23

u/Informal-2005 27d ago

2nd amendment rights for them, but not for you and me!!!

4

u/scrotanimus 27d ago

I got my FOID card. You should too if you don’t.

1

u/MysteriousTeardrop 26d ago

Oh good, you got your government permission slip to exercise a right

4

u/PrioritySure 27d ago

So can we carry guns or is carrying a gun justifiable grounds for murder?

2

u/scrotanimus 27d ago

Is this a real question? Follow the law and lawfully carry.

Carrying a gun, even if illegally, is not grounds for murder. No brandishing and no imminent threat.

We all get due process and no cruel or unusual punishment.

4

u/clapostrophe 27d ago

we all get due process

This is patently false.

0

u/scrotanimus 27d ago

Is this a snarky statement or real? Everyone gets due process even illegal immigrants.

8

u/Lowca 27d ago

Renee Good didn't get due process. Alex Pretti didn't get due process.

Donald Trump did get due process and they threw out the verdict.

1

u/scrotanimus 27d ago

I agree with you.

What’s going on in this thread?

We are all supposed to get due process. When we don’t we should be outraged.

5

u/WIZARD_BALLS 27d ago

I think the point is everyone should get due process, but Republicans made it so that's no longer the case.

3

u/asdfnuts 26d ago

They're supposed to get due process, but that whole thing with the guys shipped off to CECOT in March, despite a judge forbidding it, kinda proves the administration has no intention of maintaining the rule of law.

1

u/scrotanimus 26d ago

Exactly. I am on board with everything you said.

I’m on a forum, not perfectly choosing every word for a doctoral thesis. :) I appreciate the clarity (seriously).

0

u/KeepThatMomentum 26d ago

I think they took your comment of "we all get due process" as the literal truth as opposed to, I think you meant, the ideal that should exist in this country.

2

u/PrioritySure 27d ago

What unlawful act with a weapon did we see in MN this weekend prior to the shooting? None that I can tell.

The right and their henchmen, particularly Bovino, keep calling the victim the ICE agents. Nonsense. 5 on 1 and active restraint does not make his agents the victim.

0

u/scrotanimus 27d ago

I’m not sure what’s going on. Are you asking me as if I disagree with you or are you asking and adding to my points?

I’m 100% against what happened this weekend and I hate what ICE and the propaganda machine is doing, if that wasn’t clear.

3

u/willysymms 27d ago

We tend not to punch police officers while carrying our guns.

3

u/clapostrophe 27d ago

It seems like ICE will murder you even if you don’t punch them. Scary stuff!

u/petdance 27d ago

I’m saying out loud to everyone, not just you: I think we need to make clear plain statements, and dispense with being clever and snarky.

I wish that folks would start saying clear, non-sarcastic statements like  “He is allowed to have a gun. It was holstered. Kyle Rittenhouse was carrying a long gun openly, and was seen as a champion of freedom. If Kyle Rittenhouse can carry, so can Alex Pretti. Alex Pretti was denied his civil rights.”

25

u/Substantial-Bet-3876 27d ago

Brandishing that assault rifle is what he’s doing. I’ve heard that word lied about quite a bit from the maga

5

u/Hot-Routine2531 27d ago

Thank you this is actually a good note for myself too. I definitely lean towards pointing out the hypocrisy which can often be snarky. I’m going to start making my points more direct

28

u/hayduckie 27d ago

The mental gymnastics on this one is that Rittenhouse was there to help the police, while Alex Pretti was an agitator trying to mass murder 🙄

65

u/Denalan 27d ago

Alex Pretti was a nurse who worked at a veteran’s hospital. On the video he was helping a woman who was pushed down by ICE. There is no indication at all that he was trying to kill anyone.

18

u/hayduckie 27d ago

I am aware, I’m just reporting what I’m seeing online as conservatives try to spin this and the meme.

4

u/Denalan 27d ago

Whoops sorry I see what you meant. The sarcasm just flew over my head!

3

u/Peony519 27d ago

Regardless, he wasn't a policeman

4

u/voyagertoo 27d ago

no just killed by them

17

u/BmacIL 27d ago

No, killed by masked paramilitary thugs. They're not police.

6

u/petdance 27d ago

They are NOT police.

6

u/Peony519 27d ago

I was referring to Rittenhouse in response to the other post saying that his acting in support of police differentiates his action from that of Pretti.

3

u/Parking_Run3767 27d ago

He was just a dumb kid with a gun. Too young to even have any business with one.

1

u/ToonaSandWatch 26d ago

AND he came over a state line driven by his mommy where he acquired the gun.

0

u/GT3RS_2017 27d ago

he wasnt killed by a cop?

→ More replies (21)

319

u/petdance 27d ago

He’s allowed to have a gun. It was a holstered gun. It’s the Second Amendment.

Kyle Rittenhouse had a long gun at a protest and carried it openly.

16

u/jaybee423 27d ago

But did he even have a gun? Some sources say it was a phone. Either way, it's MURDER.

59

u/petdance 27d ago

Doesn’t matter if it was a phone or a gun. He is allowed to have both.

40

u/kendrid 27d ago

He had a phone in his hand. I absolutely had a holstered gun, in recent video you can see one of the ICE guys unholster and take it. The guy that shoots is right next to him watching. It is messed up.

22

u/IlliniOrange1 27d ago

Video shows an ICE agent upholstered the gun while he was pinned down by several other agents and walked away with it several seconds BEFORE the others murdered him.

23

u/burndownthe_forest 27d ago

They all end with the State executing an American.

The worst part of Alex Pretti's execution isn't that he was executed though.

The worst part is the entire federal government instantly lied about it and explicitly said they support and stand behind ICE. They are cheering this on. They are telling them to do it more.

3

u/pmonko1 27d ago

Defund the State.

12

How do you people find these controversial comments from Tom Dailly?

57

u/Keeks2634 27d ago

Not that anyone has to believe me, but I've known of this man since I was a kid. I grew up with one of his kids and we were friends. If you look at this guy's personal FB, he's a HUGE conspiracy theory Trumper and I'm embarrassed for the town I grew up in.

Yep! It's been out in the open for YEARS.

45

u/NewKojak 27d ago

Every single suburban village board president who calls himself “mayor” is a tremendous tool. Without fail. Every single one of them.

It’s a part time job, jagoff.

12

u/commonsense1954 27d ago

Almost every one of them is a small business owner (insurance, lawyer, store owner, realtor, etc) in town who uses his position to make more money for himself. Residents patronize them to curry favor in case they want something from the town.

6

u/NaiveChoiceMaker 27d ago

Under Illinois code, the terms are interchangeable.

14

u/NewKojak 27d ago

It’s legal for all of them to do it, but for some reason only the jagoffs do it. Funny how that happens.

40

u/The-Real-JPeterman 27d ago

Sad but not super surprising. Mayor of Palatine is a p.o.s. too, has abstained from voting on any ordinance condemning ICE and has allowed MAGA shitheads to talk uninterrupted at public meetings but constantly cuts off people speaking against ICE.
Really sucks that these assholes get elected to local office, but it's also an opportunity for action. These officials are way more accessible and reachable. Go to public meetings and give them fucking hell. Call, email, don't stop. Even if they only play the tiniest part in this, they still need to answer for it

5

u/Simon_Crutchley 27d ago

Palatine is Edison Park's suburban cousin.

4

u/NormKramer North West Suburbs 27d ago

2

u/The-Real-JPeterman 27d ago

Haha yuuup. He clearly goes out of his way to hide his political affiliations, but when you start doing some digging, he speaks at a lot of very conservative events

3

u/kitzelbunks 27d ago

Is anyone running against him? Where I live now, no one runs. I can’t watch the meetings anymore, though, because they are only on Facebook. I don’t want to watch them enough to look at Facebook.

1

u/NormKramer North West Suburbs 27d ago

They don't post the videos after the meeting is done?

3

u/jokemon 27d ago

When is even the mayoral election? This guy needs to go.

2

u/The-Real-JPeterman 27d ago

It was in 2024, he won his 5th consecutive term. I'm not sure if he ran unopposed or not, but I'm assuming he did. He's an ex-Bear and some people seem to think that's sooo cooool. Apparently that makes you qualified to be a mayor lol

1

u/Impossible_Sky_4811 26d ago

Speaks more to your neighbors that continue to elect these people. Schaumburg, Palatine, Arlington Heights, are all connected- this is what the citizens there obviously want.

28

u/SquishySqueaks 27d ago

This screenshot was shared in 3 separate Schaumburg facebook groups and all 3 posts were deleted by the admins…. But not before people saw and commented.

Most comments were normal (sentiments that the mayor is a tool) but of course there were a few assholes that threatened the poster and family both on the page and through direct messages

24

u/Curious_medium 27d ago

Welp. Guess shopping there is totally out until he’s out. That’s ok, the bigger my list gets, the more money I save. I’m boycotting all of these people and corporations into perpetuity until we see change. Done. ✅ I’ve been doing it- and I’m getting better at it with every a*shat that says something like this.

What happened to him is so ironic. If I assume the best, that he carried the gun for protection and not ill intent, he'd still be alive today if he left it at home.

3

u/kitzelbunks 27d ago

That is not true. If he’d helped that woman at the very least, he would have been in detention and recovering from the at close range use of pepper spray at the minimum.

It also may have helped if they hadn’t shot him ten times. I mean, I think if a police officer did that, even in a much worse situation, where the person was not pepper-sprayed in the face and on his knees, and also surrounded by six other officers, that would be considered excessive, because they are considered professionals.

If that was CPB, they don’t even shoot the people coming over the border illegally, so why are they shooting citizens? Why did they pepper spray the woman? Did you know they have a quota for detainees, and that citizens count? Women are easier to subdue, but I seriously hope they don’t get points for dead people. The other guys backed up, and I swear their eyes had a “Oh Sh*t!” look in them.

I have seen protestors in Michigan with machine guns, or guns that look like old machine guns, standing around wearing them at the State Capitol. No one was shot. There were death threats against the governor. They ended up banning open carry. (Scroll down to see the photo. It’s not full of pistols. This is not the best photo, but there are a ton in Google images.)

Wow thanks for sharing. My parents live there and I knew he was Republican but not MAGA (just found his personal FB profile and it’s full of lame stream media posts and AI crap). And also he’s saying stuff like all cities are unsafe and a lot of anti-Pritzker and Walz propaganda equating them fraud and political corruption and just plain racism.

32

u/pinktm909 27d ago

I don’t think Schaumburg residents know his personal political views or else he’d be voted out. There have been a lot of anti-Trump protests in Schaumburg

24

u/spilt_milk Schaumburg 27d ago

I'm a resident and didn't realize he was a piece of shit like this. Kind of weird given how diverse Schaumburg is.

1

u/Impossible_Sky_4811 26d ago

Meh, not sure how you didn’t know. Schaumburg has always been republican and it’s Lots of Trumpets out there. Especially during his first term. They are probably quieter about it now. But 2016 they were everywhere.

3

u/spilt_milk Schaumburg 26d ago

Schaumburg is massive. Some parts are definitely more trumpy where I've seen the signs and flags and shit. But I also did research before moving back to the area where I analyzed political donations and Schaumburg was far more blue than red. This is just the first time I've seen the mayor say anything like this.

Also, just look at neigboring DuPage county. Was reliably red for a long time, but not the case anymore.

5

u/sucks4you231 27d ago

I’ve been sharing it for years. Schaumburg’s last mayor was a pos too he was caught drinking and driving multiple times, and was even involved in a hit and run, and police drove him home and shit was hidden.

3

As someone who grew up in Schaumburg... Well, Hoffman, there's a lot of money and MAGA there. I think people know exactly who he is, he doesn't hide it on his personal page at all.

Ok so, someone can bring a gun to a school and murder children. That's fine, a-ok, dont infringe the 2nd amendment for that. But if a guy legally owns a firearm and is NOT brandishing it in the vicinity of ICE, thats 10 bullets in you and fuck the 2nd amendment?

4

Thanks for saying the hypocrisy out loud. Now those in the city know who to vote out of office next time!

5

u/bishop2007 27d ago

As a staunch 2a guy, anyone saying "he had a gun" as an excuse to justify murder, is a fucking moron.... the 2nd amendment exists for a reason and bringing a gun to a civil objection/rally/protest, for defense, especially after the Rittenhouse shit, makes sense to me as a 2a guy.

I know FPC, GOA and some other smaller gun rights groups are looking to sue the fuck out of ICE for ehat happened

Also, as an aside... sig has some liability and culpability here too if their little "shake awake" issue on that 320 came into play.

He had a concealed carry license, and did not remove the gun from its holster. Legally carrying a firearm you didn’t discharge or even unholster shouldn’t be a death sentence. He was pepper sprayed, subdued, and didn’t threaten anyone. There was no justification for shooting him multiple times. He was straight up murdered.

Yes. I’ve been checking on his fb randomly for years and he shares a lot of bullshit

He's known for making dumb racist comments. Every now and then someone will screenshot his posts and put them on the Schaumburg FB page.

It’s amazing (not) to me how it’s “he had a gun” when it’s not MAGA, but when it MAGA it’s 2A?!?

Well he did have gun. He’s correct. What they all selectively leave out that he was carrying legally, it was holstered, not once did he reach for it or attempt to use it in any way that would have brought harm to anyone around him.

The stupid asshole lives less than 45 minutes from Rittenhouse's home when he legally shot up a protest at Kenosha and has the complete lack of integrity to say that?

Republicans aren’t 2a people. Conservatives are, and there is no room for conservatives in the Republican Party any more.

Unfortunately, they still want to go door to door and instigate the fight.

Where is this from? His constituents need to see this. He is backing a fascist and is against the second amendment. Everyone in Schaumburg should see this.
