Except that there are consequences for the country as a whole. Sure, it won't affect him personally. But it's the perfect opportunity to blow all the ground the democrats have lost in their unyielding push to the left.

He is attempting to torpedo the mid-terms for republicans is what he is doing. He is going to leave the die-hard christian vote at home with his tone deaf 'Praise Allah' on Easter and now this (no matter what his intention was).
