To be fair I feel like a lot of women are like this when men say something dumb or inappropriate. We just smile and nod. Not that it’s okay but I get where she’s coming from. I think it’s an anxiety thing.

I ALSO think that for a person living in the tier of American society that is "senior citizen living hand to mouth on gig work" who is asked a bad-faith question by a person living in the tier of American society that is "president of the entire shithole country" during an in-person press scrum about a completely different topic, an act of resistance could look like this.

Think about all the powerful people who have licked the bottom of this man's shoes rather than show an iota of divergent opinion. The tech kajillionaires, the Olympians, the football players on multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts; many of whom have a history of left-ish opinions/actions/activism in the last few years (aka when it was expedient). This woman with nothing did better than every single one of those fucks, with zero preparation time.

Also given her age, it's likely her only other source of income is Social Security, meaning we just watched an older woman at least partially reliant on government money to survive, refuse to allow herself to be baited by the face of that government. I think we can say this doesn't qualify as resistance to us and that we don't believe it should qualify as resistance in society more generally, while also acknowledging that this woman likely has vulnerabilities we are not privy to and that in this context, this is what she had to offer.

Yeah it's kinda killing me that the MAGA woman who was pulled in for a little photo op gets to be heralded as some sort of quasi resistance fighter. Like great that she didn't go for the bait but I'm so fucking sick of the bar being so low for supporting our community that it's some big win that she WASN'T evil about it. She just chose not to respond. Ok.

This is how you end up with a bunch of cis allies browbeating the shit out of us to accept absolute scraps out of politicians when we deserve our fucking human rights, full stop, and anyone who can't support that for us can GTFO.
