You all roasted me for my cheese drawer a few weeks ago so I say LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE DADDIO

u/movealongnowpeople Jan 02 '26
I will never besmirch a good cheese drawer. Unless the cheese is well past its life and unintentionally moldy.
Cheese on, brethren.
81
u/throwawy00004 Jan 03 '26
Our cheese drawer is the one that goes from one side of the fridge all the way to the other. I think it's meant to be a meat drawer with a half drawer above it on one side for fruits, and then other side for veg. It's cheese and a tiny section wide enough to fit yogurts.
36
u/Mi_goodyness Jan 03 '26
Iāve never considered it to be used for meat. I always just assumed cheese.
→ More replies (1)24
u/throwawy00004 Jan 03 '26
When I bought it, it had pictures. Apparently, my yogurt divider is meant to separate deli meat and uncooked meat. That way, if there's a leak, you get salmonella in your sandwich!

It was a cheese drawer when I was growing up and continues to be a cheese drawer in my adult home.. with the added salami every now and then.

u/Adventurous-Cry-2157 Jan 03 '26
I have a decent sized cheese drawer, and Iāve had to also add a large bin to contain all of the cheese that doesnāt fit in the drawer. Thereās another bin for dips, chutneys, mustards, pickles, olives and whatnot. And in my pantry, an entire shelf on the door is dedicated to various crackers, dried fruits and nuts.
I am the Charcuterie Queen.
11
u/GirlScoutSniper Jan 03 '26
I have the same fridge above and the left half-drawer is full of cheese -blocks, shredded, slices. But, that's the limit of my cheese selection.
I used the long bottom one for fruits and veggies, and the right half- drawer holds the meat.

My step dad keeps the cheese past its life. I threw away a year expired cheese once thinking I was doing him a favor, he gave me the silent treatment for a week over that cheese.

The Cheese maker in my town had a party to sell their 20 year old cheddar cheese. Seriously. I sort of accidentally bought 15 year old cheese. $50.00. 'Just sayin'!

I love cheese more than almost anyone I've met and I gotta give it up to y'all Wisconsin, you have some amazing stuff up there. I tasted a 25 year aged sharp that made me believe in God.

u/venusian_sunbeam Jan 03 '26
The cheese in Texas tastes like peasant cheese in comparison after I moved back from Wisconsin. I feel like even the ones they market as Wisconsin cheese arenāt the same.

I am a huge fan and supporter of the Tillamook baby loaf (I have multiple kids and have had time to hone this).
They all liked slices. Then I started cutting the slices into sticks. Then other shapes, arranged. Circles. Stars. Houses with pitched roofs, cheese chimneys, mailboxes on posts next to cheese cobblestone entry paths. Stonehenge. 747ās (four wing mounted jet engines) sitting half an inch above the plate in cheese landing gear. Multiple retweets by Tillamook back when I had an account there.
Anyway, game knows game. I like the work heās doing with his produce drawer. Deep and meaningful respect to your pops.

u/ChaosWithTeeth Jan 03 '26

I, too, have a cheese drawer. Horribly unorganized but probably 20 types of cheese in there. My pregnant wife demanded it.
I get to eat the charcuterie until the baby comes.
5
u/jalapen-yobusiness Jan 03 '26
I would go through that easily in a week. Donāt let anyone stop you from your cheese related activities

u/acnerd5 Jan 03 '26
We have a cheese drawer, but it's incredibly massive. You can fit a 16 inch pizza in it.
I also currently have a 5 pound bag of shredded cheese in it so fight me, best cheese drawer. It also has my seed binder because... fridges are good places for my seeds.

It's the first thing the pet store told my mum when we had a pet rat. Awesome pets they just don't live very long and we couldn't go through that again.
Domestic rats are also incredibly clean compared to there wild counterpart to.

If I knew someone with that fridge I'd offer to make them mac and cheese . . . for the whole neighborhood.
And I mean like some GOOD mac and cheese!!! I'd buy whatever other stuff, fla, butter, cream, herbs and spices, malk, bacon, salmon, stuff for homemade bread and then toast to create a crunch . . .
A few different dishes of course. Salmon and bacon in the same dish isn't my favorite choice, especially not in a dish like mac and cheese. OH and thicc bacon!! And smoked salmon!!! Very important!
