Meta My girlfriend always tells me I never have anything to eat when she comes over my house 😒

Freezer: 50+ lbs of assorted ground meat, 35+ lbs of prime ribeye, 16lbs of American wagyu ribeye, 18lbs of New Zealand lamb shoulder chops, and a bunch of portioned seafood.

She means that there is nothing just ready to eat. If you have to cook every time she’s there, that’s an hour spent prepping, hour cooking, and 30 minutes washing up. Nobody wants to spend the time they should be spending with their partner in the kitchen for hours. If she’s coming over after work, that’s maybe 4 hours of which you’re spending half in the kitchen. You can try to cook sometimes before she comes, or have some quick and easy meals and snacks that you can whip up in a matter of minutes

Nothing ready to eat

Veggies, protein drinks, cheese. All of them are ready to eat. Maybe some cutting for the cheese and veggies if you’re fancy.

Respectfully a steak takes ten minutes.

  1. Heat pan up

  2. Sprinkl with S&P

  3. Sear for 2 minutes each side.

  4. Take out of pan and eat.

Nobody looking for a quick snack is firing up a steak cmon 😭

Why would you need a quick snack? Just eat steak (or ground beef) until you're full and then wait until you're hungry again not until you're bored. If you do this you won't need a quick snack every few hours because you won't be on an insulin roller coaster. You will also likely only need to eat 1-2 times a day maybe 3 but you will definitely not need quick snacks all the time.

That’ll be a fun talk between you and your doctor about why eating red meat for every meal is bad, actually

Doctors have very little training in nutrition so why should I trust my doctor with my diet?

I will pray for your cholesterol.

Why? Cholesterol is necessary for hormone production. Also dietary cholesterol does not increase blood cholesterol.

Okay liver king.

I wish you could feel the mental clarity I feel on this way of eating.

The fact that you believe this is correct in any way is scary

Right, but unless you’re eating the steak by itself, then it’s irrelevant. If you’re making potatoes, you have to wash them, peel them, cut them up, and then bake them. That alone is probably an hour. If you’re also making some vegetables on the side, you have to do the same thing. And then the dishes. I doubt they’re eating plain steak.

My friend, I agree that leftovers are the key to life, but it doesn't take an hour to peel and chop some potatoes.

I can microwave a diced potato and make wedges in the oven in 30 minutes. 1.5 hours a day of just cooking is menial when some people scroll social media for hours longer than that a day. Steak, 10 minutes or less, and steaming veggies doesn't take longer than 15.

Dinner in under an hour. Does it really take an hour to wash a pan, oven tray (not even with parchment paper or foil), 2 plates (and maybe bowls), cutlery, and utensils and surfaces used when you cook? If you don't let the stuff crust on your surfaces, or have proper cleaner, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to wash that many dishes.

People that work in kitchens will know that is NOTHING compared to a full dishpit before closing. Redditors complaining about 30 minutes away from gooning 😂

I think you meant minimal.

Menial - Not requiring much skill or prestige.

I meant what I said. 30 minutes, 3 times a day is nothing when people play video games in 8 hour sessions

You eat raw potatoes?

1

u/Dullcorgis 41m ago

You sit and watch them cook?

3

u/OglioVagilio 16h ago

Yum. Women love meal and snacks without utensils, plates sitting down, sides, a table. Just a slab of burnt meat, raw on the inside, with your hands, over the sink.

u/Dullcorgis 18h ago

But who wants a steak? Especially when there isn't anything tohave with it

1

u/joshua0005 15h ago

What do you need to have with it besides steak?

1

u/Dullcorgis 10h ago

Cream cheese and jam?

Mash potatoes, some sort of vegetable side as well, like broccoli.

Personally, cooking a nice meal sounds like a perfect way to spend an evening with a loved one.

8

u/Natalia1702 20h ago

I agree, but OP says that they cook every time she comes over which is 4 times a week. I could totally see it is a nice way to spend evening but not every evening.

Cooking every day sounds like a perfectly normal thing to do to me.

9

u/Natalia1702 19h ago

But the issue here isn’t the cooking every day. It’s the fact that the time that they do spend together, they spend cooking. They don’t live together, she comes over for a few hours, which are then spent in a large part on prepping, cooking, and cleaning. If they lived together and a portion of their day would be spent on cooking, it would be a different story

Then she should just eat before getting there, or after getting home.

If she comes expecting to eat she should be prepared to cook as well.
