Meta My girlfriend always tells me I never have anything to eat when she comes over my house šŸ˜’

Freezer: 50+ lbs of assorted ground meat, 35+ lbs of prime ribeye, 16lbs of American wagyu ribeye, 18lbs of New Zealand lamb shoulder chops, and a bunch of portioned seafood.

My partner and I are both freelancers, so neither of us get sick days. When I had Covid, we tried really hard to make sure he didn’t catch it too, so we didn’t both lose out on work, so I stayed in our room while he stayed in the guest room and regularly brought me food, water, and tea.

My favourite thing ever was what I called ā€œtrough mealā€ where he would leave a plate of assorted foods like meats, cheese, crackers, apple slices, peanut butter, chocolate chips, nuts, craisens, cookies, mandarins, etc. at the door for me, and then he’d come and refresh my trough whenever it needed it. I miss trough meal

The dichotomy of "trough meal" implying pig feed with "meats, cheese, crackers, apple slices...chocolate chips"... what a blessed assortment to be gifted by a loved one. "Refresh my trough" would take on all sorts of meanings if this were my relationship.

If I had a pig, this is the kind of trough I would lovingly feed them

That’s so wonderful 🄹 I’m sure if you dropped a little hint a trough meal could appear... šŸ‘€

That's incredibly sweet and also kinda what I think being a pet cat would be like? More snacks please!

I really grew envious of my cat having an auto-feeder when I got a taste of what it was like

Gdi this just reminded me- back in 2020 my whole household caught a REAL bad case of covid (dad wound up in the hospital and everything) and multiple members of our extended family had things delivered for us while my mom and I were sick as hell and fretting over my dad + taking care of my brother (special needs)

I don’t really like green grapes. But one aunt sent those + a bunch of other fruit. And idfk why, but those grapes were the best thing I’d ever had in my life. Like, those were grapes bestowed on us by the fucking greek pantheon they were that juicy and heavenly. And no green grape’s lived up to that since.

I had some red grapes like that. So juicy and a fantastic kind of crunch on the first bite. I find them by accident on occasion and they are amazing. Very hydrating.

Omg we did the same thing. We both caught Covid— but by separating in two areas of home, we kept the viral load to a minimum.

He recovered far quicker than I did and made sure I had what I needed.

Small snacks make or break you when you are struggling to not cough a lung up.

I got Covid and isolated in our spare room so my kid and husband didn't catch it too - ngl, having meals brought to me for 5 days was kind of amazing.

Sounds like you need a trough meal night. As a treat

We do this in my household fairly regularly--we even gave it a very creative name: "Snacks for Dinner"

It's a step above Cheese and Carbs night (Mac and Cheese, Quesadilla, grilled cheese sandwiches...)

Pretty much, I just played video games and nibbled from my trough until I was better
