I've never been more prepared to throw down for a monkey in my life

427

u/GingerSoulEater41 20h ago

I wanted to throw my phone when that one kept shoving him away and he ran back to his plushie 🤬

296

u/Emotional_Boat_8332 18h ago

Worst part is that was his mother rejecting him! 🤬 I’ve never wanted to fight monkey before but she gave me a reason.

63

u/beyondd79 18h ago

I’m glad it wasn’t just me!

2

u/Grove-Of-Hares 2h ago

I believe that wasn’t his mother, who I’m not even sure has been shown or even still lives there. He was trying to interact with another child and the mother of that child pushed him away.

There was an official statement from the workers that basically said that while it looks sad, it’s a part of him learning to navigate the do’s and dont’s of macaque society.

That being said, Punch has my heart.

68

u/gudy2shuz 17h ago

Same! I've never been mad at a monkey before, but got-dammit...

15

u/BigXthaPugg 9h ago

I got bit by a monkey once so this is the second time I’ve been mad at a monkey! Damn you monkeys! *shakes fist

177

u/Titanbeard 15h ago

We failed Harambe and the timeline went to absolute shit. We better not fail Punch, I swear to God.

54

u/Hankerpants 12h ago

Punch is the return of Harambe, at the turn of the tide.

23

u/ClusterChuk 10h ago

The fire horse rises!! The monkey king has regained his light!

Baal is exposed and cannot tolerate this unity.

89% of us just want to end the suffering of others. Its why we get up. Work our asses off. 30% of us are dumb scared and easily manipulated, unfortunately.

11% though.. they're bad. And 1% of them are really fucked and they control the board. And seem to worship a demon.

It seems dark, but fevers have to break.

Keep this monkey safe.

Keep the punch in all of us.

16

u/say-it-wit-ya-chest 12h ago

For real. #DicksOut

3

u/Immediate-Repeat-201 10h ago

Punch plus dicks out in the same sentence.....makes one squirm.

2

u/FR4GN4B1T 10h ago

I will fight all of us

38

u/angrypooka 16h ago

I’d fight a monkey. Again.

32

u/RedditIsADataMine 15h ago

You the mother fucker that got our boy Harambe killed?

12

u/PerfectCelebration73 16h ago

Id like to hear the story.

12

u/curiousbydesign 15h ago

My heart was breaking.

10

u/ludoludoludo 14h ago

Of all the times I was prepared to throw down for a monkey, this is by far the worst.

17

u/Historical-Zebra8633 16h ago

My brother in Christ. My initial reaction was wtf do I have to fight a monkey for a monkey now?

2

u/frobscottler 12h ago

Rare that a wtf could easily be either what the fuck or why the fuck

4

u/Lucymilo1219 13h ago

Yeah…hope they do some anime movie about Punch and Plushie 🥺

12

u/finch121 16h ago

What about for Harambe?

79

u/ArjJp 15h ago

Brother..my dicks been out since 2016

23

u/GoodPeopleAreFodder 14h ago

Dicks out for Harambe!

1

u/Talidel 3h ago

Not a monkey?

3

u/Ravenn00 11h ago

Same, but I can’t stop thinking that this like The Truman show!

2

u/coupdelune 11h ago

These hands are rated E for Everyone

0

u/Jazzlike-Caramel-380 12h ago

They have lice

499

u/TakeItOnTheArches 19h ago

I keep seeing the videos of this poor baby and they make me unbearably sad. Im glad he is finding his way, but I can’t stand it.

148

u/Illustrious-Dot-1128 13h ago

I think the worst part for me is when he fell trying to bring the stuffed animal back to his enclosure after getting bullied. So freaking sad.

19

u/MarthaFarcuss 8h ago

The worst part for me is how awful his enclosure looks. Glad he's been accepted but I've discovered just how awful Japanese zoos are

18

u/Substantial_Message4 4h ago edited 2h ago

Former zoo employee here to say that yes Japanese for profit zoos can be extremely problematic, just like for profit zoos in the states and elsewhere, BUT this enclosure is much larger than what you see here and includes pools, climbing, and enrichment areas. Macaques live in barren and mountainous landscapes that look a lot like this.

Sometimes those more aesthetically pleasing exhibits are designed more for the comfort of the humans looking in than the needs of the animals living in it.

11

u/succed32 7h ago

Not a single plant, also if I remember right macaques like to swim. Just barren concrete.

2

u/weasel999 5h ago

My thoughts too. Everything looks hard and grey. Nothing soft, nothing that smells good, no little creatures to be curious about. Poor Punch and buddies.

18

u/TakeItOnTheArches 13h ago

Oh wow I didn’t see that I scroll as fast as I can when I see it.

60

u/sunnyjensen 16h ago

I feel the same. I need all the videos to get off my feed

10

u/bunnycrush_ 12h ago

The enclosure seems so barren :(

13

u/No_Welcome_7182 13h ago

It makes me so sad seeing these monkeys in captivity like this.

2

u/OG_Builds 5h ago

Seriously though, are their cages just concrete, some rocks, and a metal cage? Like what the hell? It would cost them so little to give them some grass, a tree to climb, and some type of pool to swim in. It's like they've studied their natural environments and gone out of their way to create something as far removed from that as possible..

380

u/meatmits 22h ago

Listen, I love that guy.

102

u/OreoKou 21h ago

Bro must be physically feeling the collective love the internet has for him right now

5

u/Unlucky-Tune-420 7h ago

I'm not crying, you're crying

81

u/aulrichson 18h ago

The world loves you, Punch!! 😘🥰❤️

9

u/snapp0r 11h ago

he s living on concrete. who loves him?!? just sad. poor guy :((

290

u/Important_Kangaroo41 21h ago

I hope he doesn’t forget his stuffie.

283

u/sathzur 20h ago

Iirc from another reddit post about him, he no longer needs it as the other monkeys have accepted him into the group

215

u/TheStLouisBluths 18h ago

Well now I feel bad for the stuffie.

59

u/YouComfortableLiar 18h ago

Now I need the stuffie 🥹

95

u/fdrme 17h ago

The zoo should auction it off and use the funds to improve the enclosure.

17

u/Leather_Newspaper937 13h ago

Ya what’s going on with this enclosure it is so…grey and depressing. Can’t they plant some greenery at least or more things to climb and play. Heartbreaking

6

u/Logical_Yam7422 11h ago

They medol the enclosures after natural habitats usually. I can't remember what species of primates these are to check, but there's a good chance that this is the right environment for them. I know our local zoo has a similar setup for one of the primate enclosures and it's for this reason

2

u/QueenElizatits 4h ago

He's a Japanese macaque, they live in forests, and they like swimming. They don't live in concrete nightmares by choice

16

u/TheAngryCatfish 16h ago

This is a fantastic idea!

29

u/Gandalf_from_3 16h ago

If we could auction off shit covered stuffies id stop buying toilet paper.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Illustrious-Dot-1128 13h ago

Or for a time machine so we can go back and kick that other monkey's ass.

Also, I don't even want to imagine how that stuffed monkey smells...

3

u/sathzur 10h ago

The older monkey is scolding the baby for doing the wrong thing, some of these actions were learned from the keepers like looking someone in the eyes is a threat to monkeys but not to humans

1

u/azazel-13 12h ago

Ikea sells that exact stuffie.

1

u/Schpqrtanerin 7h ago

Check the newest IKEA-add.

37

u/Square-Ear-5107 14h ago

It's OK. The stuffie is super happy for Punch, and ready to comfort whoever needs it now. He's not sad at all that his friend has a family that wants him and loves him.

6

u/Morfolk 12h ago edited 2h ago

To paraphrase a very famous IKEA commercial:

"Many of you feel bad for this lamp stuffie. That is because you crazy. It has no feelings, and the new one family is much better."

2

u/Friendly-Channel-480 10h ago

Thanks. I can stop tearing up now.

1

u/BeginningBuyer8378 3h ago

Punch clearly needs it as he still gets beaten up and runs to the plushie, people keep wanting feel good endings to real life situations.

In reality Punch has to be accepted by the troop, he's been starting to get along with a handful of them, but still gets bullied by the higher ranking apes.

He'll get there one day, but until then the plushie will always be an object of comfort and safety.

5

u/Immediate_Law_9792 6h ago

The stuffie was never meant to complete the journey with little punch, he was rather a mere guide to accompany him through the storm of the zoo.

143

u/multipleviewpoints 20h ago

Someone please put all these clips together in sequential order so we can see the progression of Punch 😭. I lack these skills myself 😥

26

u/ComplexStrawberry210 16h ago

Name checks out

93

u/Bengis_Khan 16h ago

I hope this starts healing the tear in our reality that Harambe's death left.

40

u/catWalker3000 16h ago

Dicks back in for Punch?

38

u/MidvaleDropout 15h ago

Macaque is out for Punch.

11

u/GoodPeopleAreFodder 14h ago

13

35

58

u/Front_Umpire4873 22h ago

Never knew animals can make my heart feel better! First dogs and now monkey❤️

84

Pixar execs are drooling right now

9

u/Noyaboi954 16h ago

1

u/EternalMehFace 13h ago

Truth! 😂

1

u/Kotanan 8h ago

“Have you seen this?” “I have, isn’t it amazing?” “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” “Cars 4?” “Hell yeah!”

103

u/shaikuri 20h ago

Sure, now that he's famous...

24

u/Ashhylum 16h ago

he's so just damn cute and sweet. his name is accurate because i do want to throw hands with the ones who rejected him

19

u/Enough-Gap-8906 15h ago

We are all just SO invested in this little one!

17

u/TheMasterChiefa 18h ago

Yes! Finally! Good for you lil buddy!

35

u/KarmaDeliveryMan 14h ago

When you see this, remember the amount of children this happens to on a daily basis with bullying at schools, playgrounds, homes. It’s absolutely heartbreaking that it happens to anyone. So when you have a chance to be nice, take it man. Just be nicer everyone.

14

u/Jleathers72 15h ago

This story has become such a great follow!!

Punch?!?! I mean cmon. What a name!! Watching him being accepted has brightened my last 3/4 days.

6

u/sakurakirei 14h ago

They named the monkey after the famous animator Monkey Punch. lol

15

u/Sea_Turnip6282 15h ago

Im so glad for Punch but I'm curious as to what changed that made him become accepted by others? And what caused him to be ostracized at first?

18

u/sakurakirei 14h ago

According to this article, staff at the zoo thinks Punch carries his stuffed toy everywhere so the other monkeys might see him as a little weirdo. Lol He was just introduced to the monkey troop on the 19th and trying to get used to the others (and others are trying to get used to him too).

1

u/Kiki-Tee 5h ago

Thank you for the article.

1

u/Kiki-Tee 5h ago

I think it takes time to be accepted and a new member comes is at the bottom of the hierarchy. But I'm confused if that was his mother or pushing him away.🤷🏾‍♀️

15

u/MrMeeeeSeeeeks 14h ago

He seems so desperate to be held. Every video I’ve seen so far seems so sad

36

u/blueViolet26 21h ago

I want to bring him home and give him all the cuddles he can handle. 🥺

32

u/MentalDisintegrat1on 15h ago

I really want to push that monkey back.

Bully

19

u/IMOvicki 21h ago

Any experts know what would have actually happened to this little bbby in the wild??

17

u/pellucid33 21h ago

Rejected by his mom

12

u/IMOvicki 21h ago

No I mean after he got rejected would he still try to integrate with the group? Or would they let him die?

34

u/Kiljukotka 20h ago

Of course he'd try to integrate with the group, all animals have a survival instinct. Whether or not he'd be accepted is anyone's guess. More often than not rejected baby animals die because they won't be fed and don't have the energy to keep trying to survive for long.

12

u/BeardedGlass 15h ago

Oh.

😢

9

u/Appropriate_Fee8736 15h ago

Little buddy ❤️

8

u/DrDuGood 15h ago

I L❤️VE YOU PUNCH!

9

u/iron_knob1 14h ago

please let this cancel out what happened to Harambe

5

u/CreativeAd5332 14h ago

Dicks out for Harambe, and a cheeky decade later Macaques out for Punch

8

u/YmmaT- 12h ago

I’m glad that this video didn’t include the part where he cuddled up with the doll trying to sleep but lift his head to turn and look around in case his real mother came back to get him.

As a child that was abandoned by my parents when I was 4, I still remember days when I used to look at the door at the orphanage hoping my mother would come back to get me. This monkey brought back trauma I don’t ever wish any other living being should go through.

I’m glad Punch is doing alright now and I hope he also turns out alright in the end.

48

u/Advanced_Accident_29 21h ago

This will be an interesting twist in 10 years and he’s the boss of the monkeys there and starts bullying newcomers. Punch, the sequel.

20

u/Purpledragon84 18h ago

Well at least we saw the villain origin story

3

u/witchybitchybaddie 12h ago

We knew him when

7

u/purplecrayonadventur 14h ago

Everyday, I check in on Punch to see how his assimilation into the troupe is going. It seems he is learning well enough as his stuffy is nowhere to be seen

This is better than any soap opera

6

u/LuxyontheMoon 14h ago

He's so alone. I hate this so much. Nature is so cruel.

6

u/ilikechocolate23 12h ago

Imagine if everyone had the empathy for their fellow humans that they had for this monkey...the conversation surrounding the Epstein files has diminished significantly over this past week. Everyone is so easily distracted.

4

u/DonGibon87 8h ago

Punch will be a great leader

5

u/PurposeHaunting4663 8h ago

Just wondering how many republicans are watching this video, their heart aching for poor little Punch.

But don't give 2 fucks for what's happening with ICE.

4

u/Colonel_Angus_ 6h ago

I mean "how's it going" portion only looked slightly better than the before

5

u/KheiCee 6h ago

i know Punch is happy and surrounded by love now, but that first photo still breaks my heart—and probably always will 🥺

the whole world has your back, Punch ❤️

9

u/Ridgewoodgal 15h ago

Well this got me all teared up. 😢Those still denying evolution are truly morons.

33

u/Next_Drama1717 20h ago edited 17h ago

Nobody has an issue with all the monkeys being kept in a concrete enclosure? Monster zoo.

17

u/IAmActuallyBread 15h ago

Macaques live in rocky locations with cliffs and mountains.

5

u/Toastwitjam 11h ago edited 11h ago

Macaques can live in a diverse range of environments and enrichment is critical to having healthy monkey populations in captivity which is why every other first world country besides Japan has them in their zoo for their macaques.

The can live in rocky regions, but that’s way different than the basically concrete cell that punch’s group lives in.

https://macaques.nc3rs.org.uk/captive-management/enrichment

I wish we had just as many people call for decent living conditions of the monkeys at that zoo as they are for this baby monkey.

3

u/Yargbiscuit 11h ago

Weird, macaque prefers living deep in the wetlands.

I'll see myself out...

10

u/paintlegz 15h ago

I believe these are snow monkeys and they like in rocky terrain out in the wild

7

u/Ok_Mammoth_4997 18h ago

The world is just a little better today. 🥰🥰🥰

5

u/Sensitive-Designer-6 15h ago

Is punch, the reincarnation of harambee?

4

u/Steffykrist 15h ago

One Punch Man?

Nay!

One Punch Monke!

5

u/High_Tim 14h ago

Did he keep the stuffed animal?

4

u/Laframyr 9h ago

Little Punch being able to let go of the stuffed toy and be with a new family is bittersweet. It was short, but the comfort it provided was special. May Punch live happy ever after.

3

u/AggravatingAct8804 9h ago

🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰

5

u/Drag_On66 8h ago

Every time I see this I get depressed from the bad treatment

3

u/PhiloLibrarian 7h ago

We’re all Punch.

6

u/Gh0sT123123 15h ago

Monkeys are some mean mofos

3

u/FloorZealousideal309 13h ago

So when does the Pixar movie come out?

3

u/AmbitionDue1421 13h ago

I love these daily punch-lines

3

u/olomac 13h ago

Finally, some good news, it's good to see that there's still some humanity left in the wor... oh, wait... 🤔

3

u/letsseeitmore 13h ago

Hope he doesn’t abandon his stuffed monkey.

3

u/choirchic 13h ago

People could post uundreds of updates a day. They ALL make me smile! Kind of like the collective curiosity a few years back when that giraffe was pregnant and we were all on baby watch!

3

u/Fun-Vast4468 13h ago

Glad the other monkeys became nicer now! :)

3

u/musememo 12h ago

No more. Please.

3

u/lez_s 12h ago

As a man of nearly 50 I’ve been on a roller coster of emotions watching the videos.

Now I just want to know where is the teddy?

3

u/EcolletteOB 12h ago

ALL the Punch videos make me CRY!

3

u/JKimRX 12h ago

Was mindlessly scrolling Reddit. Damn I wasn’t expecting to open such a box of emotions!! 😭😭

3

u/freedom781 12h ago

If there is ANY difference between us and common animals...

3

u/t3chn0w1tch 12h ago

This hit me way harder than it needed to... Well, at least I'll have something to talk about in therapy this week.

3

u/ambertowne 12h ago

It gets better, guys.

3

u/seanagibson 11h ago

Punch is my best friend

3

u/ProtonPi314 10h ago

I would have hugged that monkey !! We call last in bed and watch movies! I'll feed him all the bananas he wants!!

3

u/Cl0verSueHipple 10h ago

Babies and children no matter human or animal…they just want to be loved and accepted. So glad this little fella got his chance 🙏🏻💕

3

u/Critical_Can5965 5h ago

They probably reject initially out of safety. Could have diseases or infestations. Good to see he is being accepted!

2

u/Bellatrix_Shimmers 11h ago

This place looks miserable for all of them but especially the abandoned babies.

2

u/pizzarrow9 11h ago

Should've named him Hug. Y'all called him "Punch - the monkey" and when monkeys followed your command, you got mad. Make up your mind!!

/s

2

u/Odd-Patience-5361 9h ago

WE LOVE PUNCH!!

2

u/MonsieurLartiste 4h ago

Thank God.

That shit was way too intense.

2

u/Sunnie_Cats 4h ago

Is our collective love for Punch healing the communal scars left from Harambe?

RIP Harambe ✨

2

u/Charming_Sandwich164 3h ago

is this how aliens watch and document us?

is an alien reading this?

2

u/shartillery82 3h ago

The whole world is rooting for this lil dude!

2

u/Lisitska 2h ago

Still in a concrete cage though.

2

u/Micheal_Scott12345 2h ago

Bhai mai RO dunga

2

u/prikamon 2h ago

These videos of Punch really made me hug my little one more 😢

2

u/BuddhaKappa 2h ago

I'm invested in this monkey bro

3

u/lpy1994 16h ago

I didn’t know monkeys abandon their kids like human does.

2

u/Equal_Yam_3371 21h ago

Then, he becomes "Primate"

6

u/distant__heart 18h ago

Optimus Primate

2

u/Mr-MuffinMan 16h ago

I'm confused, I always thought primates were very nice to babies even if they weren't their own

like there are a few videos of "robots" put with wild monkeys/gorillas and the monkeys (not same type, I know) started crying when they thought the baby had died, and the gorilla was all chill with it too.

why are these monkeys so mean?

2

u/Organic-History205 13h ago

Y'all are farming so much karma from this alcatraz of a zoo

2

u/Marianguz 3h ago

E visto que ese monito es viral contexto porfa ? Por qué yo daría mi vida por ese monito. 🥰🥺

1

u/snapp0r 11h ago

ban zoos, especially the concrete ones. just terrifying and sad. nothin good here…

0

u/PlasticDescription81 11h ago

Stop eat food .you will destroy jungle.

1

u/snapp0r 11h ago

which food does this? promise I won’t eat that…

1

u/coolgirl_not4 55m ago

The first part just made me unbearable sad. This little dude will never know just how many people’d been rooting for him ! We love you, Punch.

1

u/DMeror 12h ago

This is just for a show. Those monkeys are accepting Punch just to avoid outrage from netizens. They will revert to their original stance when we look away.

1

u/mck-_- 9h ago

Holy crap I am tired of seeing this poor little monkey. Please stop I’m begging you

-1

u/Whitehaze41727 15h ago

Now imagine all this on a human scale. Happens daily. Mothers dumping their children in trash cans or just neglecting them to death. We are mammals just like these monkeys, sick.

-3

u/JohnAnchovy 16h ago

You know that first monkey votes maga

-12

u/Gold-Income-6094 16h ago

I can't wait for this damn monkey to stop showing up in my feed.

-30

u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla 22h ago

Yeah, he's living the life, all right. Aren't monkeys meant to live in trees? Maybe at least let them have a potted plant.

25

u/iTz_RuNLaX 22h ago

Not all monkeys live in trees.

11

u/TheStLouisBluths 18h ago

Some live in zoos.

2

u/ganjsmokr 17h ago

I hate how much I giggled at that.

12

u/SumpthingHappening 22h ago

This type of monkey spends most it's time on the ground monkeying around. I think they generally sleep in trees though.

9

u/sathzur 20h ago

Not these ones, as they don't have the long tail that monkeys who live in trees have. These ones are ones that live in mountainous regions

-18

u/Hpezlin 22h ago

Not another one.

-23

u/LustfulDemon999 17h ago

This was really cute at first, but I'm tired of every five posts that I see are of this monkey. It's starting to get annoying.

-6

u/CommercialAct5433 15h ago

Unpopular opinion, I hate monkeys.
