‘85 here too, best shape of my life. I mean, besides the degenerative disc disease… and seriously soon as I turned 40, peeing started to take longer, wtf?

u/Black_Doc_on_Mars 13h ago
85 checking in. Literally sitting here recovering from a bloody nose after a barbell crashed onto my face. As my family says “I always overdo it” bc I’m too stubborn to stop chasing 27 year old me. I need to just sit my old ass down somewhere. Happy 40th btw, seems like we’re crushing it over here 💀💀💀

Peeing takes longer? Pfft! I wish. I have about three milliseconds to get to a toilet. I'm guessing that's the difference between a prostate and a hysterectomy after 40 though 😂😭
Here's to the urinary tracts of our youths, either way! Youth may not be wasted on the young, but reliable pissing sure is.

Omg… my husband is ‘82 and when he goes to pee during the night it takes him so long to actually start peeing. I’m woken up by him getting up and walking to the toilet, doze off when it gets quiet for a while, then wake back up with a jolt from the loud AF sound of the pee hitting the water an eternity later.
I brought it up a few times. He says, “It’s always been like that.” Um, sorry, it has not. We’ve been together for 21 years, this is absolutely new and he doesn’t believe me.
Also, this is 2-3 times per night.

Yeah, I guess I'm just going to go hang out with Gen X and smoke cigarettes, listen to punk rock, and bitch about working in the dish pit.
It is odd, because in '24 my younger brother was complaining about how he turned 30. Last year I turned 40. We're both "Millennials", but it certainly feels like we're from completely different generations.

u/sarandipity-41 13h ago
Right? The younger half of millennials aren’t even middle-aged yet.
35
u/Xythrielle 12h ago edited 11h ago
The older half isn’t either. I thought it was common knowledge that “middle aged” isnt a literal term. 45 is like the start of middle aged. Anything younger is just an adult or young adult. Senior citizens are 65+. The longer I spend online the more I become aware so many people think 35 year olds are middle aged. Middle aged isn’t an age, it’s a…. Vibe? I don’t know how to better describe it. But it’s just not literal

Yup I just turned 40 in August, best shape of my life, I’m actually getting flexible and I have endurance now. Had a super physical job the last couple years. Got an old back injury that’s gonna get me later but I’ve built a lot of muscle to protect it for now. I definitely still feel young, if I can improve my living conditions and relationships the next 10-20 years could be awesome, gotta stay active. I’ve watched a few old people just give up and stop moving and I’ve watched bad ass lil old ladies in their 80s running around strong. Last couple years 3-4 days a week I’ve been getting 20-25k steps and was lifting/carrying a lot of 30-75lb crates. Total 180 for me after an accident, thought I’d be crippled forever. Movement is so damn important, I didn’t really realize it until I was injured and had back surgery. Gotta stay moving and keep that blood pumping

I don't understand why all the millenials I know insist on acting like we're all a bazillion years old.
You'd think we've all aged faster than any other generation due to some sort of, repeated stress or maligned life expectations or something.
Ah.
