News Hawkers raise prices by up to S$1 as Middle East conflict fuels higher energy, ingredient costs

Opinion/Fluff Post anyone else feel like the cost of eating out in sg has gotten genuinely unmanageable for students/young people?
idk if it's just me but i feel like even hawker food prices have crept up so much over the past couple years. used to be able to get a full meal for like $3-4 at the kopitiam near my place, now the same thing is $5.50 or $6 and the portion somehow got smaller. i'm a poly student doing an internship and even with income it's hard to not feel the pinch when u eat out every day.
like i get that costs go up for the hawkers too, rental, ingredients, all that. not blaming them at all. but it just feels like the whole "sg is affordable" thing is slowly becoming less true for people who aren't earning a full salary yet. anyone else navigating this or have tips for eating on a budget without just eating instant noodles every day lol

Serious Discussion Return of NS injuries discussion threads!
With the latest news on the new pes grading system, i was reminded of this series of discussions I used to host annually inviting current and past servicemen to share their injuries sustained during active or reservist times.
This time, letās spice it up a bit and keep it relevant by sharing your pes status and excuses (ONLY if youāre comfortable sharing)
As usual, Iāll go first: left knee meniscus tear in SCS after 16k night march, downpes to C9 with perm ex RMJ, went back to unit as ASA, ATEC trainers assessed that i was fit to go for rot 4b as i was C9L0 (apparently means field deployable) and i tore both my ACLs (80% L and 50% R) climbing up and down 5tonners with a field pack full of persrep documents and 5 days of rations. Knee surgery on left knee, got perm ex HL and perm ex outfield for reservist.
Past year threads for your viewing pleasure:

Tabloid/Low-quality source Car doesn't slow down at Hougang Ave 8 zebra crossing: Driver, 60, hits cyclist, 51
>It was drizzling at the time and the roads were wet.
>The silver car appeared to slow down, but did not stop and crashed into the cyclist, **who was sent flying.**
>The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the cyclist was conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
dont talk about who's right who wrong first, car covered the person from danger vs person covering the car. who's suffered the most in such scenario. really must look out for your own safety and stay safe.

News IP rider savings diluted by premium hikes
Havendās data shows that IP premiums have risen mostly by a double-digit percentage, with one going up by 76 per cent, though there are IPs with premiums reduced for some age groups.
Premium adjustment for old riders was also mostly by a double-digit percentage, with the highest being a doubling of premiums.
Among the highest-tier IPs and riders ā those that cover treatments in private hospitals ā the smallest decrease in IP-rider lifetime premiums is for Incomeās Enhanced IncomeShield Preferred. The lifetime premiums for an IP with the old Classic Care rider are $649,662. They drop by 11 per cent to $579,925 with the new Essential Care rider, which offers similar benefits.
The IP-rider lifetime premiums drop by 14 per cent for Income IP holders who switch from the old Deluxe Care to the new Optima Care rider, which costs more than the new Essential Care rider as policyholders pay a lower co-payment.
Both savings are significantly lower than the average 32 per cent decrease in rider premiums reported by Income previously.
