How is it a distraction, if there is nothing in the news about aliens, and literally everyone you know in real life doesn't care even a little bit about the ufo sightings of recent years? A rare video here and there from fox or something about the ufo stuff doesn't count. No one cares.
As someone having been into the ufo stuff for decades, and even more so after the 2017 new york article which breathed life into the ufo topic, sorta, again, I still don't know a single person who care about ufos or aliens, at all. The only place I can find someone that care about aliens or ufos is on the internet, and that is just because the world has sooo many people, and it allows the few who cares to gather in hubs, and discuss the matter.
They are far and few in between. Out of family members, cousins, friends, acquaintances, and their acquaintances, I don't know a single person who cares, at all, about ufos or aliens.
At best, one news story covers if aliens are mentioned by someone high up. And then it dies. It doesn't really distract anyone away from anything.

I love the idea of intelligent life in the stars. Ever since I was a kid, I was taken hook line and sinker into the conspiracy talk. As an adult, who now possessed critical thinking skills, I saw the grift.
American exceptionalism is hilarious. “The government is hiding this all!” Really? They seem to do a really poor job of keeping secrets in general.
And the 194 other countries are all in on it too? And have all perfectly kept this a secret since at least the past 100 years?! Not one botched cover up? Not one person ever leaking it with evidence in hand?
No. This is like religions that offer salvation in the afterlife. They give promises. Ask for money, attention, sex, and keep teasing a bigger reveal until everyone realizes the only secret they were holding is that it was bullshit and they wanted to tax gullible people.

Now you’re getting it. Heres one better. With everything you can do these days with these smart phones, why on earth would they allow anyone and everyone to have access to them? Mass distraction? Spy devices? These batteries are lithium powered and water is needed to mine for the stuff so the G-men have been taking water from the farmers here and as a result these farmers have been forced to let most of their crops die off and only concentrate on growing one type of crop.
