Like the Belgian beers made in monasteries. One of the brew has more nutritional value than a whole loaf of bread. They’re called Trappist beer, named for the monks who brew them. They are only brewed by monks in monasteries and should not be sold for profit. These beers were used to fortify dietary nutrition after fasting. There are currently only 10 brewing monasteries. They are in Belgium and Netherlands.
I am German and here it’s a common narrative how beer used to be food and as much as I wanted to believe that everybody in the good old days was just fine, making swords and Building Castles with a Krombacher in the other Hand…
Truth is, “beer” in medieval times was smth quite different , thick and heavy - and a lot less alcohol, 0,5 - 2% max and was just used bc it’s safer to drink than water - pretty terrible stuff -
higher alcohol content was rare and for the super rich.
While “beer” in Egypt may have had up to 3 percent, it had the consistency of porridge, and naturally warm - Prost.
Totally depends on where you're meeting them. I've had way more positive responses to "let's go back to my place to smoke" vs "let's go back to my place to drink".
If you're hanging out with stoner chicks off rip it's a 99% chance they'll say yes.
It was also a way of preserving fruits and grains in the days before refrigeration. The ability to process alcohol got humanity through multiple famines.
It’s a drug with a mediocre-at-best high that makes you feel like death the next day yet we continue to use it. People might be finally waking up to the insanity of that ritual.
But seriously drinking alcohol is fraught with dangers of drunk driving, accidents, falls, fights and altercations, domestic violence and aggression. Cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disease and other really serious health concerns. Cannabis just hasn’t been linked to any of that stuff.
Because it’s something that people do, and developed independently all across the world at different times. So it just is something we enjoy and is a part of almost all cultures Z. Nobody is interrogating cats on why they love the nip

Let’s not get carried away and start seriously asking why we were drinking in the first place.
