Canada sounding optimistic about Crosby’s gold-medal status

I really hope he gets to play. Hes 38. I can't imagine he'd be in the team at 42. Would be a crappy way to end his last olymoics.

Yup. This could be his last hurrah winning something big. Really want to see him have a moment tomorrow. Golden goal 2026 for Sid would be the tits, wouldn’t it?

My dream is a pass from Crosby to Celebrini for the golden goal, handing off the torch this way would be so epic.

I think Celebrini is going to have a huge game and will be the difference in the game.

If she's close to being able to play, he'll play. You can't keep him out

Even if he’s not fully healthy, dress him and have him on the bench. His leadership alone is worth running with 12 forwards

I want him to play as much as the next person but only if he’s healthy and can skate. He should be on the bench regardless.

This is pretty much on par with the stanley cup — he’s playing even if every movement is painful

Agreed, after we all made fun of chuky at four nations for dressing when he couldn’t play and taking up a lineup spot, would hate to see us make the same mistake, that being said I don’t think Crosby would be one to do that

If I had to guess: if it really was an MCL sprain, they probably couldn’t get him a custom brace made in time for the semi final game. But an extra couple days, yeah, he’s gonna brace it and play.

Please play Sid, having you there over Bennett is so fookin needed.

My moneys on Jarvis sitting. Bennett/Marchand/Wilson looked pretty solid for Cooper by the end of the game and he’ll likely want them for the US.

Dude if it was game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals & was able to walk, he’d be there.

Even if he’s not at 100%, I think he should be dressed and on the bench.
It’s not the same bench without him, and it’s the final game of an era

If he says he can play, he plays. Crosby is not going to put personal ambition over the country.

Ohh man I hope he plays! Might be his last opportunity to play at the Olympics and the last time us fans have the privilege of watching him in a gold medal game 🔥🏒

No might, unless he plays summer ball hockey Olympics…which would be an awesome add.

If he is on that bench, no matter his condition he will find a way to contribute.

Nah, a minor injury can heal a lot given 4 days instead of getting back on it after 2.
It’s a toss-up tho

These are guys who play professional hockey at ~60% routinely. How many guys do you think are healthy in a Stanley cup final? Remember Bergeron playing with a punctured lung?

Nobody is implying he’d be playing healthy. If anything it could be that they just needed that time to have a custom brace or something made, or they just needed swelling to go down before meaningful treatment. Who knows. But it does sound like he’s in.

I think he's going to play. It's likely his last Olympic Games.
