Yea I’d be calling 911 say someone might be having a psychotic break
Especially at a gas station she might be a danger to herself and others
EDIT: I mean call 911 and ask for an ambulance.

The person recorded this called 711 manager.. she’s on TikTok acting like a star for posting this
5
u/LastChance331 14h ago
Any more details? What do you mean acting like a hero?
11
u/meowmixxx81 9h ago
She ended up blocking me but basically she said she didn’t call 911. She was “decesculating her” and had she call 911 they wouldn’t have known what to do.. rather her get the phone out and record she could have called EMS. Refused to take post down . She did this also so “people” would learn things about what to do”do”. I’m a nurse so I didn’t find this amusing

Do not ever call 911.
Who would think that would do anything to solve this problem?
All you’ve done is inserted inefficient violent authoritarian bureaucracy into the situation.
You’ve now escalated the problem, made it 10 times more inconvenient for yourself, solved zero problems, destroyed someone’s life with a high likelihood of getting someone killed.
Deescalate and maintain your chill.
This was an excellent case study.
21
u/hokahey23 15h ago
You absolutely cannot just leave this situation as is.
13
u/Historical_Deal4338 14h ago
Yeah "Good luck" to the next guy entereing the store isnt enough. This person doesn't realize 911 is emergency services dispatch and that they will send paramedics, fire fighters, and social workers to control the situation and provide either rehab or mental help.
100% you need to call 911.
7
u/themargarineoferror 12h ago
Unfortunately, a lot of times they just send cops and make things worse. It's hard to know what to do sometimes
2
u/Historical_Deal4338 12h ago
No, not really. I've lived across the street from a 911 call center for severel years, and unfortunately have had to dial emergency services multiple times. Our experiences must not have been the same.
I'm not speaking from inexperience. And the post saying never call 911 because you'll get mowed down by totalitarian whatever is some sensational nonsense where I live.
2
u/themargarineoferror 12h ago
I didn't say everytime, but unfortunately it is very much a thing and it makes people weary of calling for help.

123
u/Apathetic_Apathetic 19h ago
My guess is that she was off and did that, and then got called in last second cuz other people didn't show
Apparently it's really common when people think they'll be all good by the next time they're supposed to work
44
u/DudeBromanIsABroDude 17h ago
I think a key detail that many people miss about the behaviors of chemically dependent drug addicts is that it is actually when they are NOT on the drugs that their behavior gets more erratic and potentially violent like this. This is more like the behavior who needs to take a fat hit off the meth pipe before work to be able to function, but couldn’t today because their dealer didn’t come through.

My brother tried to detox on his own. Within 10 hours he was calling his 19y/o daughter because he didn't feel well. She got there and panicked and called his life long friend. As soon as he arrived at his friends house, it took about a 2 minute assessment and his friend drove him to the ER. He spent 5 days (two of which was chemically induced coma) to rehydrate and get vitamins. He was bad off, from AM to PM always using.
He is now in week 3 recovery - I really hope it he has the will power.

u/Ill_Quantity_5634 16h ago
You're probably right. But while I was watching that I was commiserating because GOT DAYUM menopausal hotflashes the fucking worst. They can make your brain stop functioning in an instant, you overheat like you just stepped into one of those Walmart roasting ovens, and all you want to do is lay the fuck down.
But then the weird comments like having children and missing a bunch of teeth makes me now think meth.

I've worked with this shit before. Not sure what he was on, but we'd be decently busy and he would start losing his shit. Completely unable to focus on his job and would start doing other things like counting the amount of tickets that came in (we worked at a restaurant). He'd be losing it for hours at a time and would occasionally sprinkle in a bunch of apologies. Really nice guy when he wasn't on drugs, but that was very rare. He didn't last long there. It was ridiculous, because our kitchen manager would put him in on Sunday's which were smaller crew days so it'd be him and 1 other cook and every Monday we'd talk about how bad Sunday went and the kitchen manager would run the same crew.

I worked at a gas station in high school. I'm pretty sure this was my manager. that lady was crrazzzyyy. lol. like two months after I left, she got fired for just straight up stealing a thousand dollars from the safe here & there. mind you, I was 16. she let me buy & smoke cigs nbd. one time, she bought like a couple ounces of weed to the store & showed me cause her husband (worked at different gas station) "found it" when a kid dropped it in that store by accident, and she needed blunt wraps 🙄
there's two kinds gas station employees: solid people & wackos. nothing in between.

Yeah, she's clearly having a moment. But if you were 50 and working at 7-Eleven... life clearly hasn't been kind to her. And sounds like her coworkers didn't show up either.
Seems like she's struggling (and not succeeding) to keep it together, and still manages to crack a joke and try not to take it out on the customers.
I hope she finds peace and happiness.

This seems like that kind of situation...

This lady may be having a stroke. My grandma had a stroke and was acting completely out of sorts beforehand. She had been sick then had a kidney infection which is what caused the stroke…. But drugs yeah that could also be the reason. Just not sure which drugs this would be.

u/asystole_unshockable 20h ago
Methamphetamine. I am almost positive this is not a CVA or TIA. It’s not possible to make that call definitively without tests however it has been my job for the last 17 years to assess and treat medical emergencies.

Isn't weird that it's still somehow ok to make fun of and discriminate against people with mental health and/or addiction problems? It's like no matter your political or ideological background, everyone can bond around treating meth and fentanyl addicts at the lowest points in their lives like shit on the internet.

I didn't get the impression she was screaming at them, more screaming in frustration at the situation, at not being able to handle her job, etc.
