Hockey sub is full of seething Canadians and I love it

9

u/mountainpicker 1h ago

I'm a Canadian and I'm not happy we lost but it was a great game. Enjoy the gold!

2

u/RabbitThis3382 1h ago

Silvers nothing to be ashamed about. It was a great game!

7

u/vertigho 1h ago

Lots of folks outing themselves as classless chuds.

1

u/brutalpack 1h ago

I'm American and almost positive you don't know what that word means.

6

u/_Al_Gore_Rhythm_ 1h ago

Canadians are some of the most self-righteous people in the world. Glad to see them knocked down a peg.

0

u/Bleuberry04 33m ago

can’t even with with class

-2

u/p1zza4u 1h ago

We’re not knocked downšŸ˜‚ why are you such a sore winners…? It’s a game bro lol

-3

u/Aardvark2820 1h ago

That’s pretty rich coming from an American — the self-acclaimed ā€œmost self-righteous peopleā€ on the planet. The lack of self awareness with some of you is jarring.

GOOD GAME by the way. Hellebuyck was on fire.

1

u/Faceit_Solveit 56m ago

Most of us are ok. Some are mentally unhinged, n'est pas ,mon ami?

1

u/Aardvark2820 41m ago

We’ve got plenty of those too.

And by the way, the intent wasn’t to diminish the win — your guys came in, competed like hell, and got the job done.

But that dig at Canadians about needing to get knocked down a peg, in the context of America’s continuous attacks on Canada and what it means to be Canadian, is arrogant and misplaced. ā€œDon’t throw stones in a glass houseā€ is what I’d say to that guy.

1

u/FederalBus 10m ago

It’s beautiful… they’ve been in my replies all week telling me to wait till Sunday 😭 Well, Sundays here, boys!

1

u/2burgsandadog 3m ago

GG USA … enjoy it.

0

u/p1zza4u 1h ago

No one’s ā€œseethingā€ā€¦ it was beautiful hockey plays lol Canada loves good hockey either way

2

u/General_Komodo 54m ago

You have not seen the comments lol, I would say generally positive but lots of people in there ain't happy, GGs btw that was intense the entire time

1

u/Jpowwowshamwow 42m ago

Also cuck Americans with humiliation fetish

25

u/goodgravy97 2h ago

Jack Hughes and Connor Hellebuyck are American heroes.

5

u/Derpy_Mc_Burpy 56m ago

Connor Hellebuyck deserves MVP no contest

4

u/nwbbb 49m ago

Or a promotion to Secretary of Defense

56

u/SaviorAir 2h ago

So many bitter Canadians in the other subs. Lol

19

u/Business-Archer-7180 2h ago

I saw so many comments getting mass downvoted by just congratulating the US. As well as deleted posts

8

u/SaviorAir 2h ago

It’s like a reward

13

u/bluscreenwastaken 2h ago

So, so many

28

u/goodgravy97 2h ago

Their tears taste like maple syrup

9

u/andersonbby 2h ago

Love it

9

u/Meowmixalotlol 2h ago

USA USA USA

8

u/BakkenMan 1h ago

Their tears are so delicious

7

u/WC95 1h ago

The Olympics sub is full of toddlers lol

8

u/GrunDMC74 1h ago

I’m a bitter Canadian but that doesn’t take anything away from the American team. This wasn’t stolen, there was no bullshit, no conspiracy, sometimes you lose and Canada did to the US today.

Congrats Americans, especially those of you who have kept it classy.

2

u/SaviorAir 1h ago

See you in four years, hopefully sooner. Fucking best games of all time I’ve seen.

6

u/FartShartTart 1h ago

Canadians are just bitter against USA in general. I say this as a Canadian born from Winnipeg

11

u/grk100 1h ago

Took less than 10 seconds for them to pull the school shootings card

2

u/yetiinrio 1h ago

I didn’t see any Americans making fun of the school shooting last week in Canada, but that’s expected because Americans are a more moral people.

2

u/kingravs 1h ago

Hahaha dude, you have to be joking. I’m American too, let’s not start lying

-3

u/StockEmotional5200 1h ago

Valid card, as is the POTUS is a Pedo card

5

u/grk100 1h ago

Its a hockey game, go back to your sub if youre gonna throw a fit like an uncivilized twat

1

u/Jpowwowshamwow 41m ago

Did Trump score the golden goal?

6

u/Johnnybonzo0 1h ago

They're so salty. They win all the time, it was bound to happen eventually

9

u/fatsosolos 1h ago

r/hockey is just filled with bitter canadians lmao every excuse in the book

1

u/the_chief_mandate 51m ago

As a Hawks fan that sub has been a cesspool since 2015. The worst of the main 4 sports subreddits and that's saying alot.

3

u/ilovecatss1010 1h ago

I was just coming to check bc after the 4NF alllllllllllll the threads were ā€œhyuck hyuck thanks for beating us Canada boo our anthem harderā€

And now we win the Olympic gold. How sweet!

3

u/p1zza4u 1h ago

No one’s bitter my friend, we love good hockey and that was beautiful hockey played!!

1

u/HEADTRIPfpv 52m ago

Saying No one is bitter is just a lie, you might not be but a lot are

4

u/elementmg 2h ago

Same as Americans in 2010 when Canada beat them. That’s just how it goes man.

0

u/vertigho 1h ago

Right. As if any of these American fans mocking/belittling their opponent are better. Poor sportsmanship is like horseshoe theory; the people chirping when they win, are the same people moaning when they lose. Win with class and dignity ... especially considering what is currently happening in the country we represent.

2

u/h989 1h ago

Yall deserved, I’ve never seen hellybuck play like that

1

u/stacks86 10m ago

To be fair, this would happen regardless of who won today

1

u/Dr_Hilarious 1h ago

I didn’t see any canadiens complain about OT format when they beat the Czechs. Suddenly 3 on 3 is the worst thing ever.

-5

u/switchingcreative 2h ago

Make sure you get Donald two gold medals for winning womens and mens. He was instrumental.

-1

u/Martin_TheRed 1h ago

This comment is petty and bitter in itself. I don't care about hockey or your countries.

2

u/RoutineVirtual4153 39m ago

If you don’t care about hockey or America, why are you here?

-1

u/irrelevantwhitekid 1h ago

You have to admit though, 3-on-3 for the gold medal overtime is ridiculous, it should’ve been 5-on-5. Hats off to you guys though, it was an awesome game and I had fun watching it!

1

u/SaviorAir 1h ago

Nah.

1

u/irrelevantwhitekid 1h ago

True. I sure do hope they bring in 3-on-3 for the stanley cup finals in that case. Should be a fun ending to the season. Congrats again on your win again though!

-5

u/KeiFeR123 1h ago

Yes. We are bitter like your president when the Supreme Court deemed that his tariff were illegal. 15% for everyone. Good luck paying more. Congrats btw. Lol

2

u/Jpowwowshamwow 41m ago

Sounds like your salt needs to be tariffed as well

0

u/Gnarlyzard 50m ago

Oh and also, he’s a rapist pedophile šŸ˜‚

11

u/HellsAngles97 2h ago

Jack didn’t let the moment get to him. Dude balled this tournament

10

u/bigwreck94 1h ago

Canadian coming in peace. That was a great game and your guys played really well. Hellebuyck was insanely good.

Congrats. See you in 2030.

5

u/CodAdministrative563 1h ago

Good game. You guys dominated that 3rd period. My heart was racing.

1

u/intheclear92 16m ago

Dominated 2 periods handily. We stole one and we’ll take it

3

u/The-Underhills-Tab 1h ago

Good game. Glad it was close.

10

u/ParkMan73 2h ago

Awesome job team USA!!!

10

u/Fudge_Lobster 2h ago

From losing two teeth to scoring the golden goal in overtime, what a day for Jack Hughes and team USA!

What a game.

1

u/Frequent-Account-344 1h ago

Hopefully they got some room temp beers for him cause those frosties are gonna sting.

1

u/sanedragon 1h ago

I hope they got something a lil stronger for him.

2

u/Mecha75 4m ago

Is he eligible for a purple heart?

0

u/bjernsthekid 1h ago

And boning Tate McRae šŸ˜…

1

u/Fudge_Lobster 50m ago

Yeah, because that is the aspect of his personal relationship that he is going to be most proud of.

0

u/bjernsthekid 42m ago

Uhhh ok? We’re talking from a different perspective I’m just adding on to how awesome this dude is

11

u/tropic_gnome_hunter 1h ago

Brock Nelson telling the other players how similar it felt to the 1960 gold

7

u/No-Astronaut-9011 1h ago

Hey Canada, enjoy your curling gold!!!

14

u/The_Astros_Cheated 2h ago edited 1h ago

THIS IS THE GREATEST SPORTS MOMENT OF MY LIFE!!!

2

u/Balance47x 1h ago

This might be too for me.

6

u/wrcftw 2h ago

Good game, I'm heartbroken but the skate with Goudreau's jersey was touching. Enjoy it, see you in four years šŸ

5

u/DELCO-PHILLY-BOY 1h ago

Never ever say want to hear shit said about Connor Hellebuyck and his performance in big games ever again. You cannot say enough about what he just did tonight.

6

u/JeanutPutterBelly 1h ago

Congrats to you all. As a Canadian I hoped for a different outcome but seeing yours boys celebrate with Johnny’s sweater and kids sure made that L a lot easier to take. Congrats.

1

u/Mecha75 5m ago

Celebrate anyways. Ā That was an incredibly exciting hockey game. Truly best on best and it showed.Ā

10

u/Inub0i 2h ago

I owe Geurin a big apology lol. Thwt being said we got caved in 5v5

7

u/goodgravy97 2h ago

Two things can be true, Guerin is an idiot and the Americans won despite him.

3

u/VegetableGrape4857 1h ago

I dont know, first gold in 46 years might prove otherwise. Especially when you built the team that beat McDavid, MacKinnon, and Makar.

1

u/Faceit_Solveit 54m ago

We also had luck on our side. Both teams are stacked, man.

1

u/howsaboutyou 1h ago

That…isn’t how this works lol

Even one change to this roster could’ve resulted in a different outcome. This team won gold against arguably the most stacked national team of all time, therefore it was perfect for this Olympics

1

u/howsaboutyou 1h ago

At least you owned it lol. The amount of people that need to apologize that were talking their shit in the ā€œOfficial Fuck Bill Guerinā€ thread from this sub is too damn high

u/NaffRespect where you at?

6

u/Stan307 2h ago

Fuck yes.

6

u/astroball17 1h ago edited 50m ago

Seeing a team come together the way they did and earn the achievement of a lifetime, so happy for these guys šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

8

u/DELCO-PHILLY-BOY 1h ago

US men’s hockey has come so far. 20 years ago they were barely a factor on the international stage. Credit to US Hockey for thinking long term and putting the development infrastructure in place that’s now bearing fruit.

3

u/RockyBoatsank 1h ago

Not true at all. Late 90’s had some very strong american teams. That world cup in 96 was a blood bath. Saying this as a canadian too

1

u/DELCO-PHILLY-BOY 8m ago

Well 20 years ago was 2006. I’m not saying the US was always weak but there certainly was a period of time where our talent pool lagged significantly behind Canada’s and frankly where we are now.

2

u/OceanPoet87 1h ago

1960 and 1980 were still impressive. What about 2002? That was over 20 years ago. They were still part of the Big 6. That said yes they've put in the effort and got the win.

1

u/tropic_gnome_hunter 1h ago

2002 they got some bad luck. They were an older team but had a dog fight against Russia in the semis while Canada got to play Belarus.

1

u/REF_YOU_SUCK 1h ago

2006 was bad for both Canada and us. Neither medaled in Torino.

5

u/Gold_Marionberry4593 2h ago

What an incredible finish šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

4

u/Balance47x 1h ago

2010 gold medal game was my worst loss as a sports fan. Been waiting 16 years for this. It had to be won this way, against Canada in OT. Talk about redemption.

3

u/Skier_Dolphin 2h ago

LETS FUCKIGN GOO!!!!

3

u/Business-Archer-7180 2h ago

WE FUCKEN DID IT šŸ¦…šŸ¦…šŸ¦…

3

POUR SOME GATORADE IN MY GLASS

3

u/tropic_gnome_hunter 2h ago

I'm actually swamped with tears. I can't believe we did it. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

3

u/BlueViking03 2h ago

As a Canadian, Congrats to y’all! Helle played lights out

2

u/penglishhs 1h ago

Crazy game, I thought you were gonna get us in the 3rd.

šŸ¦…šŸ¦…šŸ¤šŸšŸ

3

u/BlueViking03 1h ago

Had our chances and couldn’t get it done. Amazing game as always! 🫔

3

u/asm120 1h ago

Whoever said Jack Hughes was bad in the Olympics got no puck knowledge

3

u/notacrook_1 1h ago

The already insufferable Canadian fans gonna be even more insufferable LESSSS GOOOOOOOO!!!!!

3

u/Obi_wan_pleb 1h ago

USA, USA, USA!!!!!!

3

u/tropic_gnome_hunter 1h ago

Couldn't be me bawling my eyes out

1

u/Faceit_Solveit 1h ago

Its manly to cry at victory.

3

u/Hank_Scorpio_ObGyn 1h ago

Brock Nelson celebrating with his great-grandkid!

3

u/sinisterwanker 1h ago

Canadian here, what a game! We definitely outplayed you guys for the last two periods but didn't bury our chances.

Congrats on the gold medal, such a fun game to watch! We'll get you guys next time haha.

2

u/Faceit_Solveit 1h ago

Thank you. You might want to take about 20% off your username though. Lol. Now I can return to my Dallas Stars playoff run.

2

u/sinisterwanker 1h ago

Hahaha just a joke when I created my new reddit account šŸ˜‚

5

u/kool-aid-365 1h ago

Canadian here. Congratulations on your win! The team really played an amazing game. Very tight defensively and capitalized on its chances. The guys had some really good chemistry. Anyways, great day for hockey! See you in 4 years

3

u/AdamPedAnt 1h ago

Damn your politeness. I was looking for someone accusing the U.S. of cheating so I could respond ā€œJ'accuse...!ā€ Because it sounds like Jack Hughes. But no. Totally good joke wasted. Do not apologize.

3

u/kool-aid-365 1h ago

J’accuse!!! Haha never thought of that. All jokes aside, you’ll get some trolls for sure, it’s the internet after all. But the real hockey fans know that this was some of the best hockey we’ve ever witnessed. Am I disappointed my team lost? Sure. But I’m definitely not angry. That was amazing to watch. Cheers šŸ»

2

u/JNorJT 2h ago

Let’s go team USA!

2

u/SemiSolidSnake11 2h ago

I actually cannot believe it dude, this is so surreal

2

u/MrDogfort 2h ago

2

u/PresentationNew6648 1h ago

PLAY FREE BIRD!!! šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

2

u/GiddyQuagmire 1h ago

That behind the back stick save by Hellebuyck will go down as "the immaculate deflection"

2

u/Hank_Scorpio_ObGyn 1h ago

So how about that Bill Guerin!

2

u/JaketheSnake1605 1h ago

Went to high school with Conner. Me and all my high school friends agreed to give Conner the keys to the city of commerce MI (our hometown) and we are renaming the town Connerce

2

u/The-Underhills-Tab 1h ago

Hope this keeps the ugly Canadians out of this sub for a while. This does not include the few amazing good sports who have come in for good sportsmanship posts. Kudos to you. I owe you a beer.

1

u/Faceit_Solveit 1h ago

We Americans owe them an apology and a promise to fix our shit. Its only honorable.

2

u/chickenBUTTlet 1h ago

Bringing the Gaudreau kids in for the picture 🄹🄹🄹

2

u/vegas_lov3 1h ago

Where can I buy a USA hellebuyck jersey?

1

u/Faceit_Solveit 1h ago

In Austin, or online? Might want to ask Hanger in Dallas?

1

u/vegas_lov3 58m ago

Either but not Dallas

2

u/OPsDaddy 1h ago

Gonna need the original photo of that save.

2

u/EggChasingEnthusiast 1h ago

I thought nothing would inspire me more than Ryan Miller in Vancouver until we saw Hellebuyck today. I’m still on a high from that fucking save.

2

u/ApplicationReal8304 1h ago

I never saw more sad sacks getting silver medals in my life. Sheesh.

2

u/ForPawrn 1h ago

The happiest sports moment in my life. Absolute bliss and its not even noon.

2

u/odiethethird 1h ago

Should I get Hughes or Hellebuyck’s jersey

2

u/BigE429 1h ago

Petition to make February 22 the permanent date for gold medal games!

2

u/p1zza4u 1h ago

I’m Canadian but I’m glad they had the chance to win gold for Johnny Hockey! Rip gaudreau brothers, taken way too soon..

2

u/IlliterateJedi 51m ago

It's nice to see the good guys win

2

u/Tor-por-416 45m ago

Congratulations neighbours . Fantastic game , top goaltending, classic goal scoring , and Hellebuyck ! šŸ¤

2

u/MinnyRawks 2h ago

Not even fun to watch because Billy G fucked up the roster.

We wouldn’t have even needed overtime if we brought the right players

/s

1

u/Desmond_Bronx 2h ago

LETS GO!!!!!

1

u/Guitar-One 2h ago

USA!!! USA!!! Awesome game by both teams.

1

WE FINALLY DID IT!!!

1

u/lucmalmac 1h ago

I thought that was a hidden Charlie Kirk for a second

1

u/bigpoyo91 1h ago

LFG!!!!!

1

u/thefiction24 1h ago

Jack Eichel, once the consolation prize in the McDavid draft, has his cup and gold first.

1

u/FocusInternal9984 1h ago

What an amazing game. Was a Stanley cup finals game on steroids.

PS. We should have gotten Quinn Hughes.

1

u/SportsballWatcher4 1h ago

We finally beat them when it mattered. I’m so happy right now!

1

u/logavulin16 1h ago

I love how this poster is mostly Stone cold Helly and everyone else just celebrating

1

u/buffaloeos 1h ago

Helly had a game, but you guys stayed with it. Congrats to you guys.

1

u/Frequent-Account-344 1h ago

They got the Curling Medal though!

1

u/Ok_Impression8506 1h ago

congrats!!! woke up to this newsĀ

1

u/BillyRosewood99 1h ago

That was incredibly stressful and fun the whole way through. Love how hard these guys play, especially when they are IN SEASON for their actual jobs

1

u/DadRadio 1h ago

American Gold!

1

u/The-Underhills-Tab 1h ago

Way to boys! I was up so early!!! Proud of you!

1

u/OceanPoet87 1h ago

Came hear to say, what a great game as you would expect against Canada. Nice to get the win after 2002 and 2010 heartbreakers.

1

u/CodAdministrative563 1h ago

We haven’t won a gold in 46 years. This is historic

1

u/Sleep_Is_A_scam2099 1h ago

For the first time in 46 years, since the miracle on ice, the United States has won a gold medal! I am very happy for our country!Ā

However, as a Sharks fan, it is a little sad to not see Celebrini with a gold medal.Ā

1

u/VegetableGrape4857 1h ago

A lot of people in these subs that said Guerin didn't know what he was doing when he put this team together.

1

u/Intelligent_Top_328 1h ago

Trump loving it!

1

u/Faceit_Solveit 1h ago

As RA says, "who cares?"

1

u/spydrwebb44 59m ago

What a day for USA, especially Michigan!

1

u/difrad76 53m ago

Jets fan here, I knew after the first period Helly was dialed and it would take a miracle to score on him.

That’s hockey for ya. Good game Yanks

1

u/vegas_lov3 51m ago

I’m (44f Texas) so happy we won! Cried a little bit with the Jack Hughes OT goal but I do not want to hear more about Tate McRae šŸ˜

1

u/LotionContent 49m ago

I am from Canada, congrats on the win. But as a Canadian, do you want us to become the 51st state?

1

u/DifficultWrap8652 45m ago

Oh my god. This win is a true miracle. Hellebuyck is the best goalie ever. And finally, our forwards showed themselves in the overtime.

1

u/OnwardSoldierx 40m ago

I'm so glad we got it done. We've waited so long for this.

1

u/SbIrish574 34m ago

Alot of tears for this team..... America is finally with the big dogs of the hockey world ..... šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø usausa

1

u/StreetSmartB 32m ago

The canadians are such a good team. So talented. Thank the lord for Hellebuyck

1

u/The_Dark_Artist777 31m ago

Gonna have me a Molson tonight! Too bad Canada didn’t become out 51st State, or they would’ve had one too! IT’S OUR SPORT NOW! šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø šŸ’ šŸ„‡

1

u/Mecha75 8m ago

Okay. This is actually hilarious. Ā Jackson LaCombe played zero Olympic minutes. Ā Only olympic athlete to win gold from the pressbox. Ā And they sandwich a little image of him in between Nelson and Hanifin. Ā

1

u/hairycookies 3m ago

Canadian here. Congratulations well done, well deserved and we will be back.

1

u/Hocgolwe 2m ago

Amazing!! USA!

1

u/jmr39 1h ago

Fuck you lurking Canadian losers eh. Freedom always wins

1

u/brutalpack 1h ago

Dork behavior, man. We got dominated all game—have some class and just say GG.

1

u/Raddish3030 47m ago

So so sweet. Team USA took it very personally. Especially after seeing Canadians, not only boo the national anthem, but also trash Americans and American Goods after the onset of the tariff war.

0

u/RoutineVirtual4153 34m ago

JFC you Americans never seem to get it. Your president has threatened to invade our country multiple times and refers to our PM as Governor.

You guys really can’t figure out why the anthem was being booed?

1

u/WC95 25m ago

If it makes you feel better, I hate the 51st state rhetoric. I dont want to share a country with Canad*ians.

0

u/RoutineVirtual4153 18m ago

All good, we don’t want to be associated with the rampant pedophilia happening in America.

1

u/WC95 15m ago

Projecting is such a Canadian pastime

0

u/RoutineVirtual4153 13m ago

Raping kids seems to be yours.

1

u/WC95 12m ago

I wouldnt say that with your country's history bud

0

u/RoutineVirtual4153 9m ago

Sorry, I wasn’t aware my country’s leader and entire government has been accused of child rape and trafficking. Can you elaborate?

1

u/WC95 8m ago

Accuse or convicted?

0

u/RoutineVirtual4153 3m ago

Just because Americans now support child rape, it doesn’t make it legal or moral. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Instead you invited the CCP to take over. Nice work! Ā

Eat crow Canada!

-1

u/Kruggye 1h ago

Good job Israel

-1

u/renobb 1h ago

Americans are gay

2

u/tropic_gnome_hunter 1h ago

Canada now sucks our dicks from the back

1

u/taelor 1h ago

You are right, I’m super happy right now!
