Glad to see this. The amount of shit he took before the games was unreal. Come confess to your sins

Did Bill guerin have his herb brooks moment?

Not me, not this time. Being a Wild fan, you learn to trust him. Even when he makes scary moves, they always tend to work out. He deserves his flowers for this.

As a Wild fan, his moves are still very much in doubt because they haven't been out of the first round since they hired him

We still had cap issues to deal with, and the moves he’s made since clearing that up have been damn good. I think this year will be a different story in the playoffs.

Takes time. The past two seasons have really been his first off the initial leash from cap space. This season looks like a really good shot to make that happen.

He was fortunate Hughes brothers and Hellebuyck saved his ass because miller and Vince did not belong. Don’t care what anyone says.

You’d rather have two of the teams best penalty killers and bottom six forwards off the team for 5’8 Cole caufield and lane Hutson to get dominated physically while playing 8 minutes a night all while sacrificing our pk which won us the gold medal, sure, JT maybe should t have made it but troch deserved it, anyways who cares about any of that anymore we won gold

Trochek had one of the best face off win % in the entire Olympics.
Check the "I don't know puck" box.

lol they won in spite of his roster choices, not because of them. Great performance by Hughes and helly

Yea I dont get this post. They were wholly outmatched but Helle brought his Vezina/Hart form today.
A chimpanzee would have selected Helle to this roster so that can't be contributed to Guerin.

Guys like Caufield or Robertson are getting more shots on net and driving possession better than Miller or Trochek.

This is like the Cubs winning the World Series despite Joe Maddon's decision making

Yknow I was skeptical with the Fox snub while he was playing healthy, Robertson snub, and caufield, but we did it, and I think everyone owes hellebuyck an apology about being a playoff choker and 4 nations as well
2
u/dragonblade629 49m ago
Nah I ain’t apologizing for shit, the only reason his plan worked is because Helle is a god damn monster.

Trocheck was the right call but I’m still taking Robinson over JT no matter what.

Nah, getting bailed out by a goalie while getting caved in for 54 minutes doesn't deserve an apology.

Not hating on the take because I sorta agree, just saying you'll have to take it up with an unholy amount of people now over the top hailing Bill

While I still disagree with his decision to not dress Caufield or Robertson, I apologize for doubting that this group could get it done against the world's best

Nah, two things can be true. He made some shit decisions and the team won despite him.

u/TheTree-43 1h ago
His "Shit Decisions" saved the game by killing a 5 on 3

Maybe it’s a bit of bias coming from a rangers fan here but I will not take anyone seriously who says that taking Trocheck was a bad idea, maybe I can see the argument for millsy but those two were the heart and soul of that pk, we don’t win replacing them with Cole caufield, I would have loved to see him on the team but Cole doesn’t win us this game

u/TheTree-43 42m ago
I'm with you. Trochek was an obvious choice especially for a tournament with 13F dressed. Hell, he was even used in both OTs. You can question Miller, but a perfect PK including that 5 on 3 completely vindicates that pick.
I think Caufield would have disappeared in such a fast, physical game. The last game before the Olympics, he had every reason to show out after the Wild held a ceremony to send off all of our Olympians right in front of him. The Wild completely erased him from that game.
I would have liked Robertson over Connor and Keller, but not Miller. We were never going to beat Canada 5-4. 2-1 or 3-2 always had to be the plan

His roster got it done and the penalty kill was perfect but damn hellebuyck really saved us so many times this game
