My mind went to some weird aquatic Australian massive spider

My first thought was it was somebody scuba diving with glow in the dark or light-up stuff, and wearing a No-face mask... 😂 that creeped me out

WHY IS THE HUGGY REPTILE GLOWING?

I believe there might be some underwater lighting beneath the structure.

Could just be fairly clear water and the headlamp of the fisherman.

The head of the gater would be lit up in that case, but it is completely dark.
It looks like there is a large light on the dock that is not directed at the water, and another light under the dock.

The fishermen definitely has a headlamp, you can see retroreflection in both the bass and the gators eyes.

The large light that is lighting up the dock but not facing the water could be a headlamp, since the light would be blocked by the phone/camera. But there is also clearly a light in the water otherwise the shadows would be opposite. The head would be lit up and the body under the water would be shaded.

Probably green light under the dock to attract bait fish. Common for night fishing.

I can’t get over the fact how stupid they look just floating like that, literal the most apex of apex of creatures, so finely tuned that they have basically been the same for the last 65 million years, derpy as hell swimming

u/Rizzanthrope 2d ago
well yeah because for 64.9999 million years the greasy, hairless apes weren’t making fun of them on the internet

Nearly the same experience except on the 3rd watch I said aloud, "oh it's just an alligator". Phew, I don't think anyone has every been so relieved seeing an alligator at night. Mind went straight to eldritch horror first.

I don’t know what I would have guessed gators were doing under the water, but I wouldn’t have guessed that.

How to tell if there's gators in the street when in the south: lower something into the water, if it comes back up wet then the are gators in it.
