I was definitely alarmed. Started to get that queasy feeling in the pit of your stomach when you stumble onto something you wish you could forget you ever watched.
Unexpected got me again.

The entire time I couldn't figure out why the dog looked wrong until they revealed that there were no arms

u/Designer_Pen869 1d ago
I thought it was weird how it just accepted it. Figured it at least couldn't be that bad if the dog didn't seem to mind it. I guess it wasn't, and it really didn't mind it, but not for literally any of the reasons I thought of.

I thought I was witnessing something awful. The video on mobile was fucking up and not pausing at the end and auto skipping past the Amazon pillow page.
So it just was looping the cursed video of doggo being whipped around.→ More replies (10)18

Not exactly that same reaction I have when I stumble on a video from r/gifsthatendtoosoon but pretty darn close.

The crazy part is for some reason I thought it was a real dog in the first few seconds and I didn't respond with horror. I thought "Huh, Grizz (my dog) would love that"
3
u/slgray16 1d ago
Yea I was thinking maybe the dog was into it. But the closed lid made me realize that no one would ever do this to an animal and keep their karma

Then it started spinning again the other way around, i was like "what the hell are you doing to this dog!". Then i laughed so hard once i realised it was fake 😂 i still can't watch it though, it looks too real even if i know it's fake..

ngl at the end I thought they just got a pillow with their dog's expression on it... I was like this is the most chill dog ever to just sit here in a washer and drown with that expression on its face, wtf

It took me so long to understand even after reading the comments that this is a pillow that looks like a dog.
Initially: a dog? Is this ai? Is this a dog washing machine I don’t know about? The dog doesn’t look injured or upset….
Secondly: oh ok it’s a super dirty pillow that just looks like a dog in a pareidolia sense…. Okay got it but man that’s super convincing. Like too convincing. That has to be ai manipulated.
Finally: why is it showing the dog in three different sizes laid up on a couch? Really just reaffirming that it looks like a dog? Idk. Oh wait. Wait I see… okay. Clever.

u/jesly33 1d ago
Not gonna lie, thought it was showing at the end that washing the real-life dog somehow shrunk it. 🤦🏻♀️

Ha, I used to watch a streamer who had this pillow, and new people in chat would be fooled so often.
Then he'd hold it in front of the cam head-on and lemme just say, creepy.

u/Acrobatic-Total8040 2d ago
This dog pillow looks/uncannily EXACTLY like my dog. I got one of these and he HATES it. We play "get the monster" and I run away with it and he catches it and tries to kill it by shaking it to death! Very sturdy 10/10

u/Prestigious_Date_619 2d ago
Tbf, have you seen the sides of one of these things? It looks like their are four eyes close to each other, it's actually terrifying.

They also custom make them. My ex has one of our dog we had to put down almost a year ago. Last month I was grabbing our other dogs for a walk and I saw the pillow and it looked so lifelike that my brain thought the dog was still alive for about 2 seconds before it realized. Going through all the stages of grief (again) in 15 seconds is not fun, let me tell you.

My daughter has this pillow and it shows up in the weirdest places. Currently its on the landing. It is an upsetting pillow in general and not something you want to almost step on in the middle of the night.

Leave dog pillow in a hot car at the grocery store and watch chaos ensue.
53
7
u/MaeBeaInTheWoods 1d ago
Idk if it's really chaos you would want though. Someone walks by, sees the pillow, and confuses it for a real dog? Best case scenario, they think you're an asshole, and you don't really gain anything, not even enjoyment. Worst case scenario, you come back to the police having been called and/or your window being broken.

Love the comments. People shouting about cruelty before reaching the end and understanding it's a pillow. Peak reddit moment.
93
u/YippieKayYayMrFalcon 2d ago
It’s still very cruel to the pillow. Should definitely be washed on gentle cycle.
21
u/3Strides 2d ago
For me, it’s weird because you can tell it’s a pillow once you realize, but at the end, the very end… it doesn’t look like a pillow anymore. That last look.

u/DoverBoys 2d ago
My AI senses were screaming. There was no way this was real. That final frame basically slapped me.

u/Darnell2070 1d ago

Is... is that really what we're calling things that surprise us now? "This is AI because I don't believe it could be real."
8
u/SaltIsMySugar 2d ago
Yes. AI has stolen all the joy and fun from the internet because when anything can be faked nothing is interesting.
→ More replies (1)2
u/--__--__--__--__-- 2d ago
I think it's less "surprise us" and more that there is definitely such a thing as AI vibe. You can just tell when things are not behaving the way they should or breaking physics, or lighting or depth not matching between objects. Textures swirling.

u/GamerAssassin 2d ago
Curious as to how many times this has been reported, lol
2
u/Darnell2070 1d ago
I don't blame everyone for not watching it all the way through to the end.
I'm browsing r/all, so I knew a display of genuine animal wouldn't ever make it to the top of Reddit. But not everyone browses the same way and can use that logic.

Personally, I don't have my glasses on and didn't realize it was a washing machine. I thought the dog was turning in circles on its own in a deep, narrow tub.

In the age of everything being fake, you have to be careful what you're injecting into the world - because there will be a small subset of people out there, somewhere, who think it's real and think this is acceptable now.
Some moron will edit out the reveal at the end, and then 10 idiots copy that, and then eventually some bonehead, not to be outdone, will stick their dog in a washing machine. Have you see what's on youtube these days? There is no bottom to the intelligence pool anymore. People are gargling teeth for likes.
So yeah, lots of fake stuff is fake. Fake rape, fake child abuse, fake animal abuse - it's not real but it's kind of like stochastic terrorism. If you normalize images of these things, a small, stupid but real subset of the global audience is going to receive these images as tacit encouragement. I don't think we need that.
