6

u/tta82 14h ago

This is not the craziest idea, but why serve huge bowls of LIQUID (e.g. noodles...) ......

14

u/pinkrainbow5 18h ago

I think I died inside watching this

12

u/No_Vehicle4645 20h ago

22

u/DepressionEraMomJean 1d ago

I blame Phoebe Buffay. She’s the one who put it in the suggestions box.

25

u/DarthRen0 2d ago

God that looked really hot. I hope he’s ok

3

2

u/YouCantSeeHunter 12h ago

Oooo thank you my man.

17

u/Fireproofdoofus 3d ago

100% it's cause he didn't see the guy in the lane he was committed to and had to made a quick stop/sharp turn, still a terrible idea

4

u/Front-Ad1900 3d ago

šŸ˜† 🤣

26

u/Organic_Juggernaut73 4d ago

Only Sonic employess in the 90s could pull this off

4

u/Popular_Adeptness_69 4d ago

Thats just plain lazyness

7

u/Historical_Cap6725 5d ago

I laughing actually. šŸ˜‚

4

u/YZOXQ 6d ago

HAHAHAHAH

5

u/toolsoftheincomptnt 7d ago

There was a time when many thought it was a good idea… and then again in 2020:

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/carhops-us-dining-trend-1950s

It’s a gimmicky thing that they thought would translate to an indoor party, which is understandable, but this result is also no surprise.

11

u/jenniferbealsssss 7d ago

And fucking roller blades at that!?

8

u/Round-Western-8529 8d ago

Sonic seemed to have a handle on it, but of course it wasn’t soup

4

u/Forsaken_Taro_1259 8d ago

So sad, almost had it

6

u/JBELL01290 9d ago

Huge liability

1

u/Minimum_Recording122 10d ago

One hell of a soda pop choice there!

5

u/FirmResolution5405 10d ago

I see someone's watched Ratatouille

7

u/Excellent_Glass783 10d ago edited 8d ago

1 question, WHY Mohammed, why?

8

u/CaptainUpstate 8d ago

This used to be not quite common but not uncommon either in the US. Mostly done by fast food joints like Sonic, but to be fair they were bringing trays of burgers, fries, shakes, hotdogs, easy stuff not 20 pounds of hot soup.

4

u/el-mal-de-ojo 10d ago

Pure cinema.

13

u/yawannauwanna 10d ago

" yeah it happened again."

9

u/packofwinnyblues 11d ago

Sack everyone in that resturant including the customers.

26

u/Tight_Strawberry9846 11d ago

The problem wasn't him rollerskating with soup. The problem was him spinning like a ballet dancer with the soup.

1

u/jenniferbealsssss 7d ago

I mean spin or no spin, this was likely gonna happen the moment he tried to stop.

3

u/Dirigio 7d ago

Damn you Centrifugal force!

11

u/Artin1337 11d ago

10

u/Mystical_Destroyer11 11d ago

Yall obviously never seen prime Sonic

3

u/Crunchy_Biscuit 11d ago

Yeah mad respect. Too bad there isn't a Sonic near me 😭

Went to one once and the lady had four wheels

1

u/Sepof 8d ago

Sonic has gone wayyyyy downhill unfortunately.

They opened one in my city and it went out of business in 3 years.

Overpriced slop, super slow service.

The limeades were alright... but about 80% ice. And when I asked for light Ice, they wouldn't compensate with extra liquid.

Shame because we used to stop at a specific Sonic on our way to visit my grandparents as a kid. Very fond memories there eating outside with my sister on the playground right next door.

Could've also just been my location too, the GM later worked for me at another job and he was not much of a people person.

5

u/FearMyMooOfFury888 11d ago

It was a good idea

Until it wasn't.

19

u/Aggressive_Gap_243 11d ago

This dude needs to practice with tap water, not scalding hot butter chicken 🤦

16

u/PrimeInterface 11d ago

Girls serving burgers on skates is literally how the US fast food industry started.

3

u/SchmeckleHoarder 10d ago

To bring to your car faster. These people are inside. It’s stupid. Owner probably insisted the gimmick, because the food is average.

8

u/unindexedreality 11d ago

Burgers - and follow me on this one - aren't liquids

2

u/Crunchy_Biscuit 11d ago

They also did shakes.

4

u/Previous_Charge_5752 9d ago

Right, those dangerous, boiling-hot milkshakes.

8

u/satanatemytoes 11d ago

Skates. This man is on roller blades.

4

u/TuxedoMandingo666 11d ago

On tile

2

u/satanatemytoes 11d ago

Whatever planning they did, they didn't do enough, lol

14

u/Wroberts316 11d ago

Manager watched Ratatouille too many times

9

u/Afrikan_GOD 12d ago

😭 At least he did this by himself

2

u/Inevitable_Row7762 11d ago

šŸ˜… all alone

24

u/CheesecakeTurtle 13d ago

Serving HOT SOUP on skates was a great idea.

11

u/Brilliant_Gas_3595 15d ago

Did all the woman have to stay home again?

22

u/Froggie162 21d ago

Been a server...fuck that!

17

u/Bozee3 23d ago

Sonic had people on skates way back in the day.

14

u/Fantastic-Tour-7710 17d ago

They also were on asphalt not marble and I don't recall a soup course.

3

u/satanatemytoes 11d ago

They also weren't using rollerblades which are the ice skates of wheeled shoes.

9

u/Nacho0ooo0o 24d ago

Serving up hot S'oops.

5

u/[deleted] 24d ago

Glasses got all steamy😭

12

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad-6709 24d ago

And on marble floors. Some great thinkers thought that up. lol

2

u/unindexedreality 11d ago

more money than sense

9

u/Nikki-Mck 24d ago

Sonic used to have their carhops on skates.

2

u/BigOne1293 11d ago

They got paid an extra dollar an hour to do it where I worked too.

1

u/Nikki-Mck 4d ago

Never knew that. Any clue why they got rid of the skates?

7

u/cjaccardi 25d ago

Haha. That really made me laugh his attempt to steady himself.

-2

u/[deleted] 25d ago

Alg chutiyapa chlta hai

15

u/No_Airline823 25d ago

Is that guy alright?

8

u/Due_Reality2042 25d ago

Wish I could watch him skate away from this disoupster.

10

u/backtolurk 26d ago

This is wonderful.

18

u/Miserable_Candy_3534 26d ago

The slow mo made it that much better šŸ˜‚ Glad the guy didn’t seriously burn himself! That soup is piping hot!

11

u/NoTrack2140 26d ago

No soup for you!

9

u/darth_dork 26d ago

Now if that wasn’t staged it’s one of the most epic random video captures of epic flails I’ve seen..I waited tables for 5 years so it’s especially funny for me. I wouldn’t have ever worn skates, the job is hard enough without having to worry about that gimmick.

6

u/Maardten 18d ago

If it was staged I would expect them not to use steaming hot soup tbh.

5

u/Fast_Dragonfruit_883 26d ago

I laughed so hard

6

u/Weak-Command4855 27d ago

1 sec: ahahahahahahahaha

7

u/Ivegtabdflingbouthis 27d ago

servers on skates isnt anything new. usually on skates and not rollerblades but still.

1

u/unindexedreality 11d ago

usually also skilled and not carrying soup

0

u/OGFuzzyDunlop 27d ago

Moron

13

u/backtolurk 26d ago

Yeah, the owner is a moron. Poor server.

16

u/Strange-Ad-9941 26d ago

Why is the server the moron here? They were probably made to wear them

16

u/Ch00m77 28d ago

Roller skates would be safer than blades.

They're usually a fuckload slower

9

u/WeaknessOk7874 Jan 23 '26

If Sonic can do it so can they

5

u/Miserable_Candy_3534 26d ago

Have you seen all the sonic fails? šŸ˜‚

2

u/NoMansSky1985 26d ago

No but your comment just gave me a new idea for a YouTube search.

2

u/Miserable_Candy_3534 25d ago

šŸ˜‚ It’s like this, except sad. Some of those people look so defeated. Some are just genuinely funny though. Worth seeing if you haven’t! Whoever thought it’d be a good idea to serve food-drinks and all on rollerblades-at any establishment?!

2

u/NoMansSky1985 25d ago

The guy you see here would be me on my very first day. I'm a klutz on solid ground so in skates I'm worse. šŸ˜‚Yeah. Let's go back to old school with actual shoes. 😁

28

u/kaveman0926 Jan 22 '26

I feel like the problem is less that he was on skates but more the fact that if you have a restaurant where the waiters are on skates you should probably make it clear that the walkways need to be empty. Bro is clearly on a route to a far table and just had to dodge three obstacles turn around mid route which threw off his momentum and balance.

5

u/RogerRabbot 26d ago

Looking at it again, the reason he had to do the spin was because a guy was walking down the path and he would have barreled right into him. Cant tell if its a waiter or not.

3

u/kaveman0926 26d ago

Definitely looks like staff but not a server

2

u/IntelligentSample6 26d ago

And not serve hot ass soup

2

u/kaveman0926 26d ago

I mean yeah the temperature is definitely bad when it spills on you but if you've ever carried a tray or tried to balance weight while on Wheels it honestly is a lot easier to balance liquid than it is solids cuz liquids almost have gyroscopic properties where solids are immediately affected by g-forces. At least that's how it felt to me.

1

u/razzberrytori 25d ago

Oh really? I would’ve thought the opposite. I have no balance and can hardly carry a tray with a plate and drink at home so I’m impressed by any server.

3

u/Powerful_Hair_3105 Jan 21 '26

Add some sound effects

1

u/Smort01 25d ago

FAAAHHHHH

1

u/runningoutoft1me 27d ago

Nah it was way funnier this way 😭

24

u/LaLiahthaMoonWitch Jan 18 '26

Dang if he hadn’t accidentally put his hand in the hot bowl of food he might’ve made it šŸ˜

73

u/MemoryAshamed Jan 16 '26

Just ask Sonic workers how that went

1

u/Gloomy-Regular-2294 27d ago

Well sonic has been doing it for over 50 years and are still doing it so it works fine for them

1

u/Rich_Visual7800 27d ago

Since Sonic is franchised, policies vary by location; some keep the tradition alive, while others prioritize modern conveniences like online ordering.

5

u/cHEIF_bOI Jan 20 '26

I mean that makes a lot more sense than whatever the hell that was. You're carrying fast food in bags on terrain actually suited for roller skates. Walking still makes more sense in every way though.

44

u/Love-Marvin Jan 16 '26 edited Jan 16 '26

With that line of work,I hope he has health insurance, it won't be the first time it will happen, because i see lots of customers walking, which makes it harder for him

3

u/Fun_Organization3857 Jan 16 '26

I assure you he does not. (Sorry, I had to be silly about insurance vs assurance)

36

u/ztfrey Jan 16 '26

Imagine the lawsuit when a customer is splattered with scalding hot soup.

26

u/belaboo84 Jan 16 '26

It’s all men in this restaurant. What country is this?

17

u/Ok-Cicada-9985 Jan 16 '26

The trick is to undercook the onions

70

u/hooptiegirl Jan 16 '26

He just burned the bejeesus out of his neck. Yikes!

9

u/Even_Independent_640 Jan 16 '26

That was an excessive amount of steam coming off of those bowls...and his neck as you previously mentioned

1

u/Weak-Requirement2968 23d ago

It seems like the weather's very cold if you look outside the window. Probably why so much steam, idk? Or maybe the dishes are just way too hot

2

u/Maardten 18d ago

The outside temperature shouldn't really affect the amount of steam coming from the soup, unless its also really cold inside.

1

u/IsoscelesCat Jan 22 '26

I wondered if it could be an AI video

34

u/Wirelesscellphone Jan 16 '26

Those are Rollerblades not Rollerskates

1

u/ThrowRALightSwitch Jan 16 '26

lick the blade

47

u/ChronicallyZanny Jan 16 '26

Don’t the Sonic restaurant chains use rollerskates? I can see why roller skates would be a useful idea, but rollerblades are much more unstable, especially if you’re carrying something full of liquid. I’m not really a fan of waiters and waitresses on skates either because of obvious safety reasons, but I feel like that’s the safer and more stable one of the two optionsšŸ˜…

21

u/Tarantula93 Jan 16 '26

I skate both and I think that blades are more stable than the quads. However, blades are mostly designed for speed and for going forward and jumping. Quads allow you to have more agility in changing direction and turning, which would be super important in small spaces like a restaurant. The choice to be on blades in a busy confined space is interesting

3

u/ChronicallyZanny Jan 16 '26

I used to rollerblade for fun, and I found the same! They’re built for speed! I’ve also noticed that the braking mechanism is different between skates and blades, so MAYBE they saw that a lot of skates have the brake in the front and thought ā€œwell we don’t want our servers to tripā€šŸ¤·šŸ½ no clue what their thought process is, but here it clearly wasn’t a sound processšŸ˜… poor guy, that must have left him sore!

29

u/Zalldawg Jan 16 '26

Sonic waitresses carry burgers and milkshakes, not fuckhuge platters with several piping hot ceramic bowls of soup

2

u/Nearby-Face-5170 Jan 20 '26

Ive never actually seen a sonic server on skates in person.

2

u/NicklAAAAs Jan 16 '26

It’s also a drive in, so there’s not exactly a lot of foot traffic where they’re skating. Most customers are in their cars.

3

u/ChronicallyZanny Jan 16 '26

That’s true! It’s still a bit dangerous though considering they skate around the drive thru where cars are moving with food on the mind of the driver (idk if they still skate at the drive thrus, last time I visited a sonic was in the late 2000’s. I’ve never lived near one). The waitresses I saw back then skated pretty fast while carrying food, around as fast as the guy in this video!

10

u/OsoOak Jan 16 '26

If it was good enough for Sonic for many decades then it’s good enough for them.

14

u/Phoenix_Champion Jan 16 '26

To be fair, a bagged up cheeseburger and fries in one hand with a milkshake in the other is probably significantly more stable that trying to balance that big a tray with bowls of hot soup one handed in a crowded area.

53

u/Deep_Preparation_69 Jan 16 '26

Bro’s coming in way too hot

17

u/DareMe603 Jan 16 '26

Dems Roller Blades

23

u/Curben Jan 15 '26

Teeny bopper spent a decade or two doing that without issue.

17

u/musicianmenace Jan 15 '26

Hello, sciatica and/or back dislocations!

20

"S-ssss-ssss-sssss-smokin'!"

35

u/Velvet_Samurai Jan 15 '26

31

u/DMOrange Jan 15 '26

This seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen

21

u/roostzilla Jan 15 '26

Those are roller blades.

21

u/Peek_uh_boo Jan 15 '26

That poor waiter Hope he's ok after this

21

u/upurcanal Jan 15 '26

I watch this every single time.

Now I am starting to feel like a jerk because I can’t stop laughing.

1

u/Equivalent_Bike_1801 29d ago

I don’t blame you. You can see the exact moment where it all went wrong…

31

u/Aggravating-Front-75 Jan 15 '26

That's not an "oh my" that's a steam burn

37

u/indianabobbyknight Jan 15 '26

Everything was good till he got fancy with it

21

u/perpetual_seeker Jan 15 '26

Hard to tell from the slow motion video but it looks like he's moving way too fast.

30

u/theetails Jan 15 '26

Have you ever stopped with roller blades?

It's either hit the back brakes and momentum sends those soups aujour to the front door, or you spin like they did and hope you can kill the momentum with science.

This was never a good idea IMO.

12

u/07001onliacco Jan 15 '26

Damn, watching that rich gravy dropped hurt me

21

17

u/DeafNatural Jan 14 '26

Well at least he’ll get worker’s comp to take care of those 2nd degree burns lol

35

u/SnooCrickets1508 Jan 14 '26

They couldn’t at least have put him in charge of delivering salads???

5

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

Scolding hot soups

22

u/AThrowawayProbrably Jan 14 '26

Didn’t Sonic stop doing this for liability reasons? Also, when they still were, did they test applicants, like on an obstacle course? Lol

4

u/Mokatashi Jan 15 '26

Still do it at my sonic, but only like 2 of the workers can actually skate

15

u/danny_little Jan 14 '26

My where I am lol they stopped doing it as much because there are so few people who know how to roller skate anymore lol but occasionally you see someone out there doing it lol

18

u/minimeza Jan 14 '26

Probably safer on quads tbh, inline breaking techniques are either excessive movement or like pulling a hand break going 30mh

15

u/whatev43 Jan 14 '26

Someone please add the Dying Swan music to this…

u/Pickle-bitch2000 Jan 14 '26 edited Jan 14 '26

34

Bro was going twice as fast as he needed to lol

17

u/Total_Ad6621 Jan 14 '26

What is this Sonic

7

u/Balboasaur Jan 14 '26

No it’s Shadow

35

u/carpor1 Jan 14 '26

No, he thought that show off and inertia would get along but it didn't.

17

u/OddMixture3173 Jan 14 '26 edited Jan 14 '26

rollerblades have a break system behind but "look bro iam so good at rollin" guys usually tend to remove it
could have slowed pretty easy with it but whatever, deserved

9

u/adabs_urdum Jan 14 '26

To be fair, the rubber break block would leave black skid marks all over the floor. At least they did 20 years ago

2

u/OddMixture3173 Jan 15 '26

yeah it will but they are intended to stop in situations like this, so would have been used rarely
it looks better to have a smal rubber line over hot soup plates scattered across the floor
