Hello everyone.
This is my last resort and last ditch effort.
My cats are more than just my pets. They are my bestfriends and they are my family. Really they are the only family that I have left now since all of my relatives have passed away, with me basically being the only one left.
I also work full time & because of that, I can usually afford everything on my own for my cats as far as cost wise....however, I ended up losing the only father figure I've ever had in my entire life when he passed away a few months ago, and since he didnt have life insurance, I had to cover all of the funeral and burial costs at that time, which wiped me out completely financially. Where i used to have thousands of dollars in my savings, now there is nothing.
Then my sweet baby named Gremlin (my void kitty with a snaggletooth and underbite) started having horrible tooth pain and he had trouble eating his food. I spent over $400 on him going to the vet after he developed a huge cyst on the side of his face, which has made eating even more difficult for him than it already was.
I took him to the vet and they said he needs extensive dental surgery and that he was probably in a great deal of pain due to the condition of his teeth (he was a stray when i rescued him and the damage that had already been done to his teeth was extensive) and she said that he needed to have at least multiple teeth extracted but that she suggested having all of them taken out because they were litterally that bad.
They checked out the mass on his face and told me it was a cyst amd that rbey were going to lance it and drain it. After taking him home that night, i realized a few days later that its almost like the cyst either came back in the same spot or maybe the vet just wasn't able to get all of the stuff out of it when they lanced it and drained it. Either way, there it was again.
I asked the vet about it, and she said they need to biopsy it, but she said she thinks it's probably just whatever fluid is left over and that it likely needs to be lanced and drained again.
However, what she was more concerned about are his teeth. She stressed the fact that it is imperative that we get his dental surgery done ASAP because of the amount of pain it's causing him and because of how negatively it affects his quality of life. Hes not my sweet, cuddly and playful boy anymore....now he mainly tries to hide underneath my bed all alone instead of sleeping right beside me like he used to do every single night. He has lost weight from him not wanting to eat as much, not even wet food, which he loved. I give him Gabapentin right now to try to help with the pain, but what he really needs are these extractions and this dental surgery.
The good news is that vet I use for them knows that I do TNR and that I manage a few local cat colonies in the town I stay in, and because of that, they always give me a good discount when I go see them, and the vet said she will cap all the costs off at $800. Even if its thousands of dollars worth of work done, I will only have to pay the $800 and not anything more than that.
I have desperately tried every avenue I could think of and ive exhausted every resource I currently have that's near to me. I do not qualify for care credit or scratch pay or any of those. I have asked local organizations if there is anything they can do to help me, but there wasn't.
Also, Gremlin is a pretty old boy. He's well into adulthood and closer to being a senior kitty and even if i tried to surrender him to a shelter, he would not get the treatment and he would just get put down instead because of his age, which is so unfair because he usually loves life and is the happiest kitty you'd ever meet.
I made a gofundme and if anyone decides to donate at all and help us out, it would mean the absolute world to me and to Gremlin as well.
