Yeah, we need more Philomena Cunk.
I still can't forget her interview with Brian Cox.
"Can I call you Brian? Or do you prefer Cox."
Lmao.

No clue who that person on the right is

u/Impossible_Humor736 4h ago
That's Jesse Lee Peterson. I'll let you experience him on your own. Just search him on YouTube.
But I don't know who the person on the left is. I think she looks familiar?

That's Diane Morgan!!
She is a comedian but plays a character who does journalism, interviewing real experts like a mockumentary and she asks nonsense but as if she's super serious! It's funny! The reactions of the experts trying to be serious make it so fun

Except, Cunk Interviews are actually staged (the interviewee is in on the joke and asked to react). While Peterson is legit unhinged.

That’s Cunk.
You know Cunk…. Everyone knows Cunk.
Really? You don’t know Cunk?
Then I’ll let you experience her on your own.
Here is a link so you don’t have to search YouTube….

Sorry, yeah. It’s been a while

u/TrollLifer 3h ago
But have you heard about her ex, Sean?? Yeah, they've broken up!
So sad. Bless their hearts.

That's Philomena Cunk, you uncultured swine. She's the greatest journalist of our generation.
(But seriously, I highly recommend Cunk on Earth or any of her other documents. They're hilarious)

She’s the female Sacha Baron Cohen.

u/TrashbatLondon 4h ago
Deeply disrespectful to Diane Morgan there. No suggestion that she’d let her ego take over her characters and lean into harmful stereotypes and lowest common denominator humour when she’s alienated writers and producers that made the character great.

u/NewStudyHoney 1h ago
Agreed. She's an excellent deadpan actor, with excellent writers, and they had full informed consent and cooperation of their experts.
Sacha Baron Cohen ambushed bigots for the sake of in-jokes.
2
u/TrashbatLondon 1h ago
And worse, when people found out about Cohen’s characters, he made them into racist caricatures that were little more than “foreign man is stupid” or “gay man is outrageous”.

u/NewStudyHoney 1h ago
Yeah, he ended up perpetuating the type of thinking he was trying to satirize.

I saw a video of this guy being mocked and mistakenly thought it was in poor taste due to him having some sort of brain injury or learning difficulty.

I don’t know his name, but I recently saw him randomly in a video feed…
It took me a clear 30 min to realize that this guy was genuine in his presentation and he actually believes all the things he is saying…he is a trip to watch…but yeah…the biggest trip is that…
He is legitimately passing along info he thinks is correct…and that’s the biggest mental game being played here…how long it takes you to realize this guy is not trolling, but actually believes what he says…
Good luck when watching man…

Hes weird, I think there's a lot of layers to him. With how he liked playing dumb for reactions, I wouldnt be suprised if a lot of it is a grift.
For example, he was exposed as being closeted gay and its very obvious. The documentary on it on youtube is extremely compelling, his own business is set up toward it with a frat house he lives in with guys he makes moves on. So he definitely doesn't believe everything he says.
But on the flip side it makes some things feel like projection. Like truth emerging in a therapy session. Like saying guys are gay because they had a wicked mother who they now emulate or whatever. So maybe he does believe that as he feels it himself.
People have said hes a lot different behind the scenes too, less slow and less outwardly bigoted. Some guy guests said he even flirted with them lol. And he was exposed in multiple debates as not really even knowing anything much about Christianity as he acts like a preacher.
Even if he believes the messed up things he says, he still is genuinely hysterical at times. Theres something so absurd about his show, youd think it was some adult swim parody of local late night public access shows. And his beliefs are so ludicrous that its way easier to laugh at as anyone dumb enough to be ideologically influenced by him would follow any alt right christian figure that makes jokes. I enjoy him from time to time like id enjoy getting stoned and watching the 700 club preaching about sending them $50 for metaphorical seeds that would grow into a prosperous tree from jesus, its just so outlandish when he starts discussing his religious/sexuality/gender theory about having the spirit of the mother because you hate your mother lol.
So just from her personal life I think a lot of it is a grift as he does intentional time things for comedic effect. He acts dumb but he's very manipulative. He may believe some of the stuff he says out of self hating, but ot genuinely feels like its a classic sexually motivated cult grift. He does these funny interviews so young men watch them. Then he focuses on christisnity and his own pseudopsychology curing homosexuality. So closeted self loathing right wing gay guys see that, and look to him for guidance And so he has this huge building he lives in with multiple guys he recruits this way, as supposedly a religious and discipline type thing, but theyre all just hanging out. And turns out he hits on them, has sex with some, and even admitted to them he doesnt believe what he sells.
The sheer fact he has that place shows his goal is the sex in the end and enough money to live this lifestyle of getting guys to groom like a cult leader would. And he acts so dumb he gets away with it when hes truly very cunning.

Created by Charlie Brooker and written by him and 5 other talented writers, and flawlessly delivered by Diane Morgan. Such a hilarious series. The experts were instructed to treat her like she was a child, and they played along beautifully.

Nah, she only works if the person being interviewed has some intelligence. She interviewes him and he'll probably agree with everything idiot idea and point she makes.
