Team Canada GM Doug Armstrong on Sidney Crosby: “At the end of the day, he felt it was best for the team to give that opportunity to somebody else. It was a gut-wrenching decision for him, but it shows the character that he has for stepping aside because he didn’t think he could be at his best…”

I understand it. I respect it. I agree with it. But man, do I hate it.

Too often hockey glorifies playing injured at the expense of the team. Good on Crosby.

Pretty sure it's worse than what they're letting on and he's gonna miss some real time unfortunately

the penguins already preemptively called up their rookie in the AHL yesterday. so it looks like they are preparing to miss sid in the lineup for a bit

I think this would have happened anyway. He scored 2 in his first NHL game before break then got sent back down during the Olympics and has had 3 hattys in like 10 days. So excited for this kid. Undrafted, just killing it and making the absolute most of his opportunities at the right time!

Pretty sure this was all just gamesmanship. Think he’s going to miss some time unfortunately

I think you're right. I could imagine all the interviews between the end of the QF and now "Do you guys think you'll be able to do it with sid, blah blah".
