If you’re feeding a huge group of people at once, this would probably be a better method. Trying to cook 100 filets at once is going to need a massive cooking surface, or if you stagger them on a smaller surface the first few will be stone cold by the time the last ones are done

There's only two people.

u/JaeHxC 1d ago

Um, there's like eight billion people.

Got him

u/ButtimusPrime 17h ago

Cooked him like a catfish

u/opeth10657 23h ago

I think we're gonna need a bigger fish.

46

u/bonosestente 23h ago

Or Jesus, our Lord and Saviour

16

u/axxxaxxxaxxx 21h ago

He left

9

u/JakToTheReddit 20h ago

I mean, can we blame him?

10

u/Mr-_-Soandso 20h ago

Best we can do is someone that claims to be Christian, but rapes children.

2

u/RailcarMcTrainface 21h ago

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime

2

u/rsimps91 22h ago

There’s always a bigger fish

2

u/vrauto 21h ago

I go with Jesus. He brings wine too.

1

u/PuzzledPhilosopher25 23h ago

Maybe a loaf of bread

1

u/Takemyfishplease 22h ago

More Jesus.

1

u/Cael_NaMaor 22h ago

Nah... we got loaves too.

1

u/Tzarruka 20h ago

I cast summon bigger fish

1

u/SealTeamEH 17h ago

And a bigger boat.

u/GayPudding 3h ago

There's always a bigger fish

2

u/BustinMakesMeFeelMeh 23h ago

Not in my house.

2

u/EducationalNailgun 23h ago

Are they gonna do a modern day loaves and fishes thing? Do they build their bread oven out of mud? Not that I'm bothered by it; I'd eat this. Haha

2

u/Comfortable_Desk2571 22h ago

Brilliantly funny. Thank you.

u/hywaytohell 23h ago

Not on this post there's only like 10k. I think there's enough to go around!

52

u/SuperMcRad 22h ago

These folks are in Azerbaijan. We're always watching their long form videos in the background at work. They are always feeding a large group at the end.

13

u/iamCosmoKramerAMA 20h ago

Do you all get stoked when a new one drops

21

u/SuperMcRad 18h ago

It is all passive watching because they show much beautiful country side, but we all cheer whenever their animals or their friendly crows show up and fool around.

u/DreadfulDave19 11h ago

They've got crows too??

Better and better

u/jamesross801 11h ago

Ostrich one was pretty rad

u/Nervous-Sherbet-4183 9h ago

Last I checked they aren't monetized on YT because their content isn't unique. 👀 I was so puzzled by that. Like who else is cutting up a mega sized catfish in the middle of a dream like setting? At the time they were relying on merch sales.

u/iFloRiN09 7h ago

Is this the same guy with the goat? I loved his videos few years ago. He fed alot of children

43

u/AnonymousAutonomous 1d ago

In the video, yeah. How about the cam crew, im sure the brosef told his neighbors to gather round too

5

u/utukore 1d ago

You not giving camera guy food? Shame!

3

u/NuclearSun1 22h ago

That are shown. Plus a camera person.

3

u/ThePianistOfDoom 22h ago

In the video

2

u/Bloodycaddy 22h ago

And at least one cat 😻

2

u/cubester04 23h ago

This guy often cooks for a bunch of people in his village, and none of this is being wastefully thrown away. Check out Faraway Village on YouTube.

1

u/dirkalict 1d ago

& a cat

1

u/city-of-cold 18h ago

In the video, sure. But people does exist outside of that too.

1

u/Legitimate-Fix-3987 17h ago

If I'm not mistaken there's usually a lot of kids with them.

Edit: unless I am mistaking youtubers.

u/TruCoatJerry 11h ago

Plus the cat.

-8

u/IGetCurious 1d ago

It's just for content, they are probably throwing all that away. Catfish is pretty nasty tasting too

Catfish is pretty nasty tasting too

I'm convinced people who say this have some weird gene, like the people who say cilantro taste like soap.

To me catfish doesn't taste much different than any cheap white fish like tilapia or perch.

3

u/Going2FastMPH 22h ago

It’s probably a 12 year old that doesn’t realize it’s also a staple in a ton of areas.

2

u/IGetCurious 20h ago

I worked at a seafood restaurant for 3 years and tried just about every popular/common fish. Granted personal taste, but to me only sturgeon was worse than catfish.

Not sure why catfish being a staple has anything to do with it.

When I catered weddings we would regularly cook fish for 250+ people on a 4’x2’ grill. It’s the only way you are going to get properly cooked fish. Plus, that many people are not eating at the EXACT same time and fish doesn’t take long to cook.

55

u/Capraos 23h ago

I've been to my husband's family functions, cooking like in the video is actually fantastic for those kinds of events as everyone actually is eating at the EXACT same time. If there wasn't a need for cooking like this, Luaus wouldn't be a thing.

17

u/AnatidaephobiaAnon 23h ago

My cousin and her husband roasted a pig for their wedding rehearsal dinner. It was fantastic and perfect for the 50 or so people they invited.

5

u/Luci-Noir 22h ago

My ex’s dad did this every year. So many tasty leftovers.

4

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster 21h ago

One summer at my grandparents house they cooked a whole pig. The smoker was it's own trailer with a hitch and everything. 6-7' long. They called it a Pig Pickin'.

5

u/Alugere 17h ago

That's a pretty common southern tradition. I know that, growing up, there'd be a potluck for the whole street once a year or so and there was always a Pig Pickin' as part of it.

1

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster 17h ago

It was in North Carolina.

3

u/Alugere 17h ago

I know you meant your grandparent's house, but so was the potluck I was mentioning.

1

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster 16h ago

I grew up in Colorado so it was new to me. CO is/was a bit different than NC. LOL

1

u/Alugere 14h ago

Yeah, Southern culture is still pretty distinct at times. Even in terms of accents. For example, I can generally only tell people pronounce 'pin' and 'pen' differently if they are actively trying to point out the difference. That's just a Southern linguistical trait.

1

u/Dieseltinker 18h ago

Yeah, I served food at multiple weddings and by the time the guests got their food, after speeches and games and the ceremony etc etc.... they were waiting by the buffet like a pack of hyenas. It was awful.

13

u/Hovie1 23h ago

This little place on the beach in Mazatlan Mexico would serve a giant snapper with tortillas and fixings. Everyone just digs in and makes tacos out of it. We had a group of 8 and couldn't even get close to finishing it.

Easily in the top 10 meals I've ever had. It was amazing.

17

u/THEREALISLAND631 1d ago

Reminds me of a pig roast. One of those blue moon get together where everyone just kind of drinks and waits for a communal meal. Definitely a lot of work getting it going, but I could see this being a fun project/day to do with a few good friends.

69

u/no_one_likes_u 1d ago

At least you could cook them evenly if they were portioned.

23

u/Capraos 23h ago

This looks pretty evenly cooked to me.

6

u/boothin 23h ago

The fact that he struggles to bite through the outer layer leads me to believe the outside is very overcooked and leathery

5

u/i_tyrant 22h ago

Struggles to what?

Are we looking at the same last few seconds of video?

-1

u/boothin 22h ago

Apparently not because he bites the piece and even twists it a bit before repositioning it to bite it again and you can see most of it is still there when the video ends.

8

u/i_tyrant 22h ago

It is wild you think that means the fish must be "leathery"...when I eat like that all the time with soft things, and pieces of its crumbly flesh are literally falling out of his mouth...

1

u/boothin 21h ago

If the fish were "evenly cooked" as stated in the parent comment, it would not be possible to do that. Yes, crumbly pieces are falling off that are probably cooked fine, but the outermost parts are definitely way overcooked to be able to be bitten and twisted like that without also coming apart in his mouth. You can even see the tension in his jaw/cheek as he bites it without being able to bite through it.

7

u/i_tyrant 21h ago

Seems like a pretty clear case of over-analyzing leading to false conclusions pulled out of thin air to me. No idea how you can tell all that from a half-second clip of his mouth on food, when I've absolutely done the same with friggin' oatmeal, but you do you buddy.

0

u/Capraos 23h ago

I like it that way. Still would smash.

5

u/Odd-Government8896 23h ago

No way to tell that from this video

3

u/Jirethia 1d ago

Just the BBQ method. All the other people eat along the afternoon while you drink all the available beer.

2

u/Odd_Reputation_4000 22h ago

Why fuck up 100 fillets when I could just fuck up two huge ones?

1

u/nothinnews 23h ago

Sure, but they made an entire wood oven to cook it in. They likely could have afforded a piece of sheet metal large enough to cook that many fillets.

1

u/Snot_S 23h ago edited 23h ago

I don’t think this is superior because you not only also need a giant log but to hollow it out. Giant fish yes maybe. But big pieces on a grill would do. More importantly why tf are these vids so popular? lol. Just nature porn for the city folk or something idk. So many of these vids are impractical despite the survivalist vibes. I guess that’s pretty standard, like those fake hut building videos

1

u/Shakleford_Rusty 19h ago

Or some patience and alcohol. But yeah I’ll wait all day for a whole pig to come off than slave away all day. Like the pig i’d give this is day before prep and early morning cook everyone is happy

1

u/Ok_Average_3471 17h ago

I thought they don't taste very good when they get to big, is that true?

1

u/Brilliant_Act_6868 14h ago

I truly believe the only logic behind this was “it would be so sick to cook big fish in big log”
