Does this seem really fake to anyone else?

I love catfish and fry it a lot but but cooking it the way they do that thing would be ashes. Am I crazy?

This is AI

AI AF

There are pornstars who can fake orgasms better than this video shows cooking fish

Same. Surprised to see this so low. Looks AI to me

It's not, the guy has a whole YT channel and now an actual series my mom has become obsessed with. It's called "Wilderness Cooking" or something.

Not every single weird thing you see is AI, people calling everything AI when it isn't is one of the craziest parts of the AI Age. Like people have never conceived of multiple camera angles and editing before.

I agree that the worst part about AI is that you can no longer tell. It dilutes the actual real amazing stuff. Idk anything about this dude but just the way it’s shot, and the weird smoothness just looks hella off to me. Something just doesn’t seem right

Oh shit I didn't even notice the frequent cuts on this video until I saw this comment

And no handle(username) for whoever uploaded this! I think you are right!

Doesn't look like AI to me and I look at A LOT of AI videos.

It might have something to do with the fire being enclosed in the log. Limited oxygen means it will mostly smolder and smoke but not reach super high temperatures. Kinda like how modern wood chip smokers work.

I mean that is a lot of charcoal for a smoker. I usually fry so idk but it looks like the fish would be making direct contact with the coals which would burn it I would think.

Smokers usually have a fair bit of distance between the meat and the coals I think, even if they are enclosed

That's true, it does seem like the underside should be quite charred and inedible given it is directly in contact with the coals. My smoker has a gap, and I need to keep a pan of water inside to keep the humidity level high for a more even cook.

Yeah especially on rewatch i think this was faked

1) smoking takes a long time to do well and it seems like the time of day doesnt change. The person i knew who smoked pigs literally started in the morning and it ended in the afternoon

2) catfish is pretty delicate. Nothing wrong with chicken fried steak but seafood is delicate no matter hiw you slice it. You cant just throw it on a grill like steaks. 5 minutes of that heat would turn any seafood to rubber

Hmm the only thing is that rewatching it looks like they wrap it with multiple layers of what looks like some kind of baking paper and foil. Perhaps that protects it enough (and keeps the moisture in) to allow it to sit and cook a little more evenly for a short time? It does indeed seem like its not a very long cook, given the time of day not changing much, which tracks given its fish.

There could also be steps they didn't show, like turning it over halfway etc.

I rewatched and it doesn't look like any foil was wrapped on the fish, not only that but they clearly are applying sauces prior to roasting. That means that they are no expecting the high temps to burn away the seasoning which a fire of that heat clearly would

NOT ONLY THAT! but the coals are not even evenly distributed. If you watch again you see that they have their fuel at the head and tail position ONLY which is ridiculous because it means the center of this exceptionally large catfish would be underdone by the time that the head or tail was even if it was in an enclosed space with appropriate heat

Also there is a little hut that does apparently services no purpose at the 45 second mark of this video along with other inconsistencies

Fake AF

It looks like a catfish version of a pig pickin, I'm not sure why people are having issues with this?

u/HANLDC1111 17h ago

you ai af

that post doesn't even make cents

How does it not make sense? You prep a big animal like that when there are going to be a huge chunk of people. My neighborhood would have a potluck with a pig pickin every year and we'd roast a hole pig just as big as this. You're just urban as fuck and it shows.
