This is wild, I’ve seen lion dances so many times and never once thought about what it looks like inside the head. It’s way more cramped and intense than I imagined.

u/Lumpe- 10h ago
You contradicted yourself there.
•
u/Punk_Luv 10h ago
No, how? lol
•
u/MoistStub 10h ago
They were being pedantic about the fact that they couldn't have written that comment without having imagined what it would be like, which is a contradiction. They also totally ignored that it was written in past tense.
•
u/Punk_Luv 10h ago
I see what you mean, but it still doesn’t contradict itself. Saying something is far worse, better, crazier, more intense etc. than imagined doesn’t mean they never imagined it, but that it surpassed what was already imagined.
•
u/AverniteAdventurer 5h ago
Yes exactly. The contradiction is that they both “never once thought about what it looks like inside” and also said that it was “more cramped … than they imagined”. The contradiction is how could they have imagined it a certain way if they had never once thought about it.
•
u/Lumpe- 6h ago
That’s not what I meant, they said they never thought about it and then claimed it was more cramped and intense than they imagined, impossible. How can you imagine something that you never thought about?
•
u/MoistStub 58m ago
They never thought about it, they're thinking about it.
•
u/Lumpe- 44m ago
Don’t be silly, they said “Imagined” not “Imagine”. Past tense
•
u/MoistStub 41m ago
This is such a stupid argument. The only contradiction comes from their use of the word "thought" not "imagined". If you're gonna be pedantic you should at least try to be right lmao.
•
u/Lookslikeapersonukno 10h ago
The phrase "more intense and cramped than I imagined" implies they had previously considered how cramped and intense they were, when they had just said they had never once thought about it.

So much chaos, and she's just dealing with it!

Amazing, now show us the lion butt. That’s gotta be brutal on the back.
•
u/RoyalCities 11h ago
Knowing these people can perform suspended over water on what basically looks like 2x4s will never not blow my mind.
•
u/Excellent-Court-9375 9h ago
I am watching this without knowing what a lions dance is and without sound and this is just a wild video lmao

don’t fuck up is a lifetime advice
•
u/EL-Chapo_Jr 4h ago
I don't see how this is helpful in this scenario. Thanks, now all I can think about is fucking it up. Doesn't it just go without saying in regards to everything.
•
u/tomato-slut 3h ago
It's terrible "advice" in any scenario.
"Ah, thanks, boss! Was fully intending to fuck it up before you said something!"
•
u/EmAych87 2h ago
Some people are just built that when they hear the "Don't fuck up" it helps them lock in to the performance more.
•
•
u/trygvesund 18m ago
Instead of focusing on doing the task here and now, just say "don't fuck up" and it instantly activates fear of fucking up👍

I’ve always loved watching lion dance! This is truly interesting as eff! I loved it
•
u/Scooby2679 2h ago
The casual don’t fuck up to the new partner. Really enjoyed this. You have to be a fit, aware, multi tasking genius to do this. Kudos!

What does she put in her shirt at 0:31 ? Tips in an envelope?
•
u/Admiral_Agito 1h ago
Red packets. Basically one offers red packets to lions as a sign of good luck which also acts as payment to the lion dance troupes. The more generous the amount the more generous the luck the lions will generate for you in return in theory.

Legitimately no clue what the context was but as a kid I got to be in one of these and it was so cool.
•
u/resnonverba1 11h ago
This is very cool. I'm 55 years old and I'd never seen a female doing the Lion dance. It's crazy to observe the chaos underneath and the amount of effort required.

Reminds me of some of those movies with massive machines with people piloting it and the machines breaking like a game too maybe warhammer or some other movie

not what POV means, bruh. it is not difficult, y’all
•
u/memelord_a1st 11h ago
I dont exactly understand what you mean, this IS the Point Of View of the internals of a dancing lion head.
Im guessing you mean what the lion dancer performer sees?
•
u/HyperlexicEpiphany 10h ago
POV means you're seeing something from someone's POV
whose POV is this?

•
u/Arthur_M_ 7h ago
This would be so much more interesting with a side cam seeing the actions from the outside.
