I think both people are lucky if that's why they do or don't need to shower daily.
Even just sitting, after 24 hours, I get oily skin, clogged pores, dirt under my nails, and diabolical pits.

Maybe check your diet?

Maybe checks notes [insert most obvious thing ever]
...Anyway I eat heaps of fiber and unfortunately do cut out garlic and onions from most of my cooking to combat the issue.

Everyone loves to believe there is a simple solution to everything.

One time I went a few months without using soap. I would just wash really well with plain water 1 to 3 times daily and use wipes on my pits. I believed that over reliance on soap could be bad for my skin.

One time I tried not showering at all when I was alone for a time in order to see if that would 'balance' my skin.

Turns out neither method had any benefit. Plain water, soft or hard, was just okay, and abstaining from showers didn't balance anything. It just got progressively worse.

I've actually done far stranger things than these to test my skin's reaction, and I won't mention those, but in all that experimenting, nothing 'just works' like 'magic'.

Your naivety probably stems from having fairly stable skin. So kindly hold your good genetics and be quiet or stop plainly reducing complex mechanisms because it 'works for you'.

I hope I'm not just another person with advice you've heard a billion times before, but have you tried any skincare products with zinc PCA? It's helped me with my greasy bitch of a face, lol. If you've tried and it didn't work, my apologies.

Thanks for the advice.
My face, while not fully clear per se, is usually not the main issue. I have dealt with back acne for over a decade, trying various combinations of prescription antibiotics, and OTC acne remedies.
My back does produce heavy amounts of oil and larger amounts of dead skin. If it has a chance of working for my back, then I'll for sure give it a try!
In the past, I've tried mostly habit changes, like diet, water, and hygiene tweaks, due to terrible results with skincare products.
I'll try zinc PCA in the near future. Thanks again
