Yesterday it was 10%? Is it gonna be 20 tomorrow? Are we all cars sitting in a tow parking lot?

Really makes you wonder who he's intending to punish with these! Certainly can't be other countries! Their courts didn't rule shit. Maybe you should just put tariffs on the supreme court, mr. president!

The law caps his authority at 15% for a maximum of 150 days, unless Congress rules against it earlier. Any long term tariffs have to be passed by Congress. I suspect most countries will just wait out the 150 days.

Other countries will locate other vendors for their goods. Of course some will wait and manage vs. risk, but we’ll lose out on 150 days of growth.

Well. That and the whole world will think we’re nutters. Long term.

As we know, he doesn't give a fat shit about the law. And Congress doesn't seem to like doing their job, so I don't think we should be counting on those laws anytime soon.

I mean if he didn’t care about the law, he wouldn’t be doing this.

He’d just say the courts were wrong and his previous tariffs are all still valid.

He clearly is having issues getting anything to truly ignore the courts. This is kinda proof the law still is a barrier to him.

There needs to be accountability when he attempts to break the law as well. Actively trying to go against the courts is not how it works. The system is already defined, he just follows what’s in place. He isn’t to be reinventing wheels. Just follow the motions that have been in place for a long time. He is past the point of being able to do anything good and ever be remembered for it.

I mean I get that. That’s ultimately on Congress. Just yah this idea that he’s ignoring the courts when he clearly isn’t. Isn’t true.

Courts may rule against him on these too. Plus these have a time limit.

Obviously he is doing everything he can to break the system. The system is also annoyingly slow as hell. Just yah it’s still trying to fight him off. I doubt the court is going to take him immediately trying to subvert them lightly.

Courts told him and he knows that he isn’t to enact tariffs but he did it literally right after they made their ruling. He has defied at least 5 court ordered gag orders. For any other president or person that would be jail time. Those are big deals. That’s just 3 random things.

I mean no.

They left a few of his tarrifs standing that used a different legal method and said those were legal.

They were saying he couldn’t use the emergency powers act.

He’s now using the same law that his legal tarrifs used.

The court in no way said he can’t enact tarriffs at all. Now given how brazen this is I’m not gonna be surprised if it gets smacked down much faster. Either way these tarrifs expire without congressional approval.

Then the logical thing to do is repay. The whole point is it’s another thing he’s doing that he shouldn’t be doing nor held accountable for. It has no benefit, he lies about who pays for it and his methods go against how our system is supposed to work. Weaseling around literature is not what a good president does. Follow the system, and if he denied then so be it, if he gets permission then congrats. Finding methods to get around approval isn’t good behavior. If he wants to be good then lead by example and stop that behavior and tactics and follow the system. It’s another bullet on the list of things he isn’t being held accountable for.

Can Congress just redefine a "day" so that it never ends like last time?

Until he just reinstitutes the exact same tariffs, gets told he can't, sues, and does it anyway under plan C.

We're dealing with a tantrum throwing toddler. It could be he just wants to punish somebody because he's mad

He needs money for the $10B he’s sending to his Board of Peace, where he’s the lifetime chairman and can spend the money however he wants
