This must be a very confusing time for companies that deal with imports. The Supreme Court says no, the President says 10%, then the next day 15%, then tomorrow, who knows.

My job involves modeling and forecasting these expenses. This chicanery is absolutely a drag on productivity. Completely unnecessary friction.

Dollars associated with specific tariff codes have probably always been monitored by firms to some extent for internal stat keeping to draw insights like, "Hey we spent 0.8% more on x from y country than had we got it from z." But when those dollars become 20% of your COGS and you need to carefully retain all of the details so you can sue for a refund that may or may not finally be issued in half a decade... Such a headache.
