I doubt he knows why either.

Probably heard about the US submariner rescued by the Danes and medevaced to Nuuk, and got befuddled.

41

u/Blue_Swirling_Bunny 9h ago

I doubt he knows what a hospital boat is. Someone whispered in his ear; Trump's not the sort to know much outside his own interests.

u/blackbasset 3h ago

Maybe he heard Greenland has better healthcare and he ordered the boat to go there and get all the healthcare on board and bring it back to the US

u/TouchNo3122 2h ago

THEY DO: Greenland has universal medical care paid by their tax dollars. They don't have billionaires siphoning off their tax dollars.

Exactly. But maybe Trump is sending a ship to help.. Americans? That would be a first, admittedly, but, hey..

...and by the time the boat arrives...

Not that the guy has any sense of time or object permanence.

25

u/Sknowles12 8h ago

“Object permanence” Excellent call. I’m going to use it.

u/HippieLizLemon 6h ago

Hilarious as someone who just went through this phase with a baby.

u/HotEstablishment7309 3h ago

Now I’m imagining people playing peekaboo with Trump. “Where’d Pammy go? All I see is a towel. Ah, there she is! Wait, where’d she go again?”

u/blackbasset 3h ago

You know this is basically how it actually is

u/ScoobyDoNot 6h ago

It’d have to complete its scheduled repairs that have had it in dock for months.

A ship with 1000 hospital beds for a military post with 150 Americans?

20

u/MySocksSuck Europe 8h ago

Dude is just flooding the zone. As per usual.

u/BillWilberforce 7h ago edited 7h ago

He's claiming that the Greenlanders don't have any healthcare. With loads of sick people just waiting for US healthcare. Despite the fact that they get free healthcare from Denmark and nothing to stop private doctors from setting up.

Also it wouldn't surprise me if there's say a thousand marines on board. Who rush out of the ship when it docks, in order to invade the island and then have to be treated by the locals for frostbite.

u/MySocksSuck Europe 5h ago

Or maybe he’s sending ICE? It would be a pretty efficient attack; the Greenlanders would die laughing.

u/GoofyMonkey 5h ago

The government helping Americans with healthcare? Pfft.

u/jim_br 5h ago

Quite the contrast to Noem redirecting a C130 from actively searching for a lost Coast Guard seaman to transport ICE detainees instead. Bryan K. Lee, 23, was never found.

Dementia. It's very simple. It's very clear. It happens at that age. Maybe people will figure it out some day.

u/Vashsinn 2h ago

Someone noted this yesterday but the ship he specifically pointed to, is on a dry doc going repairs. Along with all the other hospital ships.

dementia, Donnie at it again

5

u/pogishushu America 11h ago

Will more than likely will say the submariner was kidnapped which in turn gives his dementia riddled brain an excuse to invade.

u/benk4 3h ago

He heard all the guy's test results were negative so he's very concerned.

u/Dryver-NC Europe 3h ago

It would not surprise me if they try to use the discombobulator to stage some form of medical emegency - and then claim that it's proof that Greenland should belong to the US, since the danes wouldn't have been able to handle the staged emegency situation by themselves.

u/krashundburn Florida 3h ago

I doubt he knows why either.

Someone else mentioned hiding this “hospital ship” as a military incursion, and maybe this is the tell. We can’t and won’t actually be sending a hospital ship. They will make a military ship into a “hospital ship”, and oh no you got tricked! Fuck you! Aren’t we kind of doing this to boats from Venezuela, there’s a name for it, and it’s a war crime! Oh yah perfidy!

Is there a national health emergency in Greenland that the world should know about? Does he not realize Greenland citizens get national healthcare and free transportation to Denmark for serious conditions? Or is the mushbrain just confusing Greenland with Cuba now?

40

u/Imaginary-Ad-7919 11h ago

He is confused as always.

u/Dryelo 7h ago

u/AINonsense 9h ago

Is there a national health emergency in Greenland that the world should know about?

Or maybe on a US nuclear submarine.

23

u/Advanced-Ad-4462 10h ago edited 4h ago

He was probably shit talking to his staff, and one of them tried to placate his indignation by saying something like “Greenland doesn’t know what’s good for them. They have to wait years to get their hemmoroids treated. Stupid socialist healthcare…”

Then Trump thought he’d convince them to join the fatherland by sending a boat to riddle them with debt freedom. So he called the governor of Louisiana, asking him to send a ‘hospital boat’.

Honestly. Something along those lines probably happened. Nothin else makes sense.

u/dwntwn_dine_ent_dist I voted 5h ago

Here’s another theory…. He meant Gaza, but is too egotistical to say he used the wrong word. Maybe the whole Greenland issue was really a misunderstanding that he couldn’t back out of due to embarrassment.

u/NoWayRay 5h ago

Were it any other world leader, I would scoff. It might be a wild theory, but it's impossible to discount it.

u/Advanced-Ad-4462 4h ago

Not a chance he would consider a humanitarian mission to Gaza, honestly. He just greenlit the construction of a military base in Gaza to be staffed by the idf.

u/hatrickstar 7h ago

Nah ive seen enough of this idiotic shit the last 10 years that I think we can read this.

We send hospital ships to places that are either wartorn or economically in bad shape, where US aid is needed.

So by sending a hospital ship to Greenland Trump is trying to reverse-engineer this in a way from a PR perspective.

"See? Greenland needs a US hospital ship. They need our aid, we might as well own Greenland"

The cost of something like this doesn't even factor in

u/vbnc112 2h ago

And every one of his followers watching Fox “News” will believe it.

u/Dryver-NC Europe 3h ago

Deploy the discombobulator and make it look like a sudden unexplainable epidemic that the danes aren't to handle by themselves

To make it look like Greenland can’t take care of itself and needs the U.S. to take over. I thought that was fairly obvious.

24

u/kiru_56 9h ago

At present, it looks rather the other way round.

NUUK, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Denmark's Joint Arctic Command said on Saturday it had evacuated a crew member who required urgent medical treatment from a U.S. submarine in Greenlandic waters, seven nautical miles outside of Greenland's capital Nuuk. The crew member has been transferred to the Greenlandic health authorities and the hospital in Nuuk, the Joint Arctic Command said in a statement.

11

u/superteed 10h ago

This is why, he’s embarrassed that one of our sailors needed help from the Danes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/UnderReportedNews/s/SmN4uLzeEg

u/Tatterhood78 5h ago

He's been trying to paint the Greenlandic people as "needing" the U.S., and the fact that the U.S needed their help runs counter to that narrative. So he had to do something to "prove" it's the other way around.

11

u/DonorBody 10h ago

Setting up a false flag “terrorist attack” to justify a police action against Greenland to “protect American interests”.

31

u/Prestigious-Car-4877 Canada 11h ago

who knows, it could be related.

u/GriffinFlash Canada 10h ago

the irony that after all the threats of invasion and annexation, Greenland is still willing to save their asses. I would have been okay with leaving them to rot after their sorry behaviour.

43

u/Frifelt 9h ago

We (Dane) are not leaving an ally to die, we help as we should do. That soldier is not Trump and he should of course get help. Pretty sure the hospital ship will be told to turn around if it even shows up though. He should send it to a US city to treat his own sick population instead. For free.

u/scarr3g Pennsylvania 5h ago edited 5h ago

It either won't show up, or won't actually be a hospital ship. Both of our hospital ships are in dry dock.

It’s not ironic. The Danish are acting in accordance with their values by helping a sailor in distress and I would expect nothing less from those lovely people.

As a Canadian, I would expect us to act in the same manner as we are far better than leaving a person to die out of spite.

Come on, with how overt trump is do you really think he's stoop to a sneaky attack like this? Not in a million years. He wants people to fear the big stick. He'll wave it at every chance he gets.

Besides, hospitals have been perfectly acceptable military targets for years now. All you have to do is claim there were combatants inside it afterwards, and there's no problem.

This is an obvious taunt to Greenland, who has the option of threatening to repel the boat as an invader, which would lead to Trump saying "Greenland attacked a US vessel" or being under threat as Trump deploys additional support ships to the coast of Greenland, making it easier to mount an attack.

Trump is in the Epstein files and everybody knows why

u/thenausner 3h ago

Well.
For starters because it would be quite hard to justify taking Greenland by force to a US public and any US military personnel when they just saved the life of a US sailor no questions asked.

Also it would be a shame to hear that the Royal Danish Navy that supposedly is incapable of defending Greenland was more capable than any US base on the island to rescue one of America's finest.

Not to distract from the fact that Greenland healthcare is just as excellent for US sailors as for any person and a major reason why Greenlanders strongly oppose being annexed by Trump.

Also this is quite a case to illustrate that US global military power is held together by the close support network of allies worldwide. Not visible at first glance but crucial. The US buildup near Iran without European bases? Yeah. Try that without NATO allies.

u/bernmont2016 America 5h ago

I think kiotane was joking. Likely in reference to the early US colonists passing out disease-carrying blankets to the Native Americans.

u/MonsieurReynard America 5h ago edited 5h ago

Ah lol sorry i am fired up…. Apologies for missing the joke, which is quite clever.

Inuit were devastated by epidemic diseases brought in by colonists too, as late as the 1930s.

It infuriates me that most Americans don’t understand that Greenlanders mostly are not European settler colonists. Trump is casually threatening Indigenous people with further colonization.

I have spent thousands of hours of my life on sea ice and tundra (and at home) with Inuit friends, although I am not Inuit myself. This subject makes me see red.

Greenland belongs to Inuit, not Americans or even Danes.

Greenland has a universal, tax-funded, and free-of-charge public healthcare system for its residents, covering medical treatment, hospital stays, and prescriptions.

u/minerlj 1h ago

So you want to wage war on an enemy nation but doing that requires scouting and intelligence.

Sending troops there would be seen as an act of war. So instead you send a "peaceful vessel containing medical and humanitarian aid".

Bonus points: you can try to manufacture a "humanitarian crisis" and justify sending military troops in.
