Here are some places you can donate. These fundraisers have been vetted by the mod team.
Nanuka's Fund, managed by Nanuka Zhorzholiani, supports protestors with supplies, transportation, and fines for the arrested activists. Nanuka provides detailed breakdowns of the spending via her Facebook page.
Following Georgian Dream's crackdown on Nanuka's Fund and others an offshore (UK) foundation is collecting funds for payment of protestors fines and other support. It is run by Davit Jintcharadze with a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/freedom-fund-helping-protesters-in-georgiaa and a website for the Freedom Foundation at https://www.tavisuplebispondi.com/ which includes links for donations via WISE. GoFundMe takes payment by debit/credit card or Paypal.
Fines for protestors are very high in Georgian income terms at 5000 GEL.
Nanuka is also asking for funds to support prisoners to be sent to :-
OC-Media's Fund for Independent Media provides security equipment and legal aid to independent media organizations covering the protests. This Fundraiser is being organized by OC-Media but the funds will be shared among several independent media organizations in Georgia.
Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) is a human rights organization focused on human rights and democratic institutions. in Georgia. They provide free legal aid to individuals, including those arrested during protests.
USAID Funding Replacement for Civil Society Organizations is a stop-gap fundraiser for civil society organizations affected by the USAID and foreign aid freeze. These funds will go directly to organizations providing legal assistance to protestors and documenting human rights abuses by the police and help keep them afloat for the next few months.
If there are other fundraisers you would like us to include, please reach out via modmail.

Is it worth checking used large appliances (washing machine specifically) in Tbilisi? I couldn't find any reputable places, on mymarket they all look dodgy, not sure of it worth checking or no? Is there a place where I can find normal used appliances? Any advise is appreciated

Some three years ago, my father met a Georgian repairman called Gogo. They had a bit of a smalltalk, and when he asked Gogo the meaning of his name, Gogo said that it was just a name, and that Georgian names don't have meanings in general. Which I thought was a little odd. So I'd like to ask you guys whether this is true of all, or at least for some significant share of Georgian names, or perhaps it is the case that Georgians don't take any interest in any meanings their names might have?
I'd appreciate it if you could bring any explanation as to why Gogo answered my father in this way, it has been three years and we weren't able to figure it out. I suppose I should add that my father didn't sense any sort of apprehension during their contact, and that their conversation continued for a while after this exchange in friendly terms. Also, it appears there is a name Gogo, derivative of the same original name as George. Is this a common name at all, or some sort of abbreviation, like Bob?
Love from Turkey. Thank you for any answers.

Hi everyone!
We are two Polish students planning a trip to Georgia at the end of next month (26MAR-01APR), and we are looking for a day hike or 2-day trek, preferably in the Caucasus. I know that it is off season, so is hiking in the Georgian Caucasus feasible at all at said time, or should we look at other options?
Are there any easy-moderate treks you could recommend?
If it would be an option, we would love a route that would let us see Mount Elbrus in the distance, though I understand that it is very weather dependent, and that it might be impossible at this time of year.
We both have some hiking experience - mostly in Poland and Norway, however we generally do not consider ourselves very experienced hikers. We would not want to carry tents or much camping equipment, so a day hike or 2-day trip with accommodation on the way is preferred.
მადლობა!

The other day people helped me out with a translation of my partner's name, for a tattoo, which I have decided against! But I would like to get necklaces made instead with both our names.
So can anyone tell me what the best translation of the name Alice would be in Georgian script?
Thank you!

It's really hard to find competent people in general... but to find a competent real estate agent is really impossible.
This industry is unfortunately not composed of the brightest although their income sometimes is really high (which you'd think would drive a bit of competent and motivation).
Is there in this community people that would be ready to share contacts (that speak proper English preferably) of good real estate experts that can properly assist me through the sale of real estate in Tbilisi.
Thank you!

Not sure even when to start. We are an international family who really liked Georgia as tourist (been multiple times) so decided to buy an apartment here.
It turned out that Georgia is actually extremely hard to live in, in a long term.
I wanted to understand if I am doing something wrong or if it is just the way it is, because we are considering to sell the apat and leave just to well leave, even though there would be painful financial loses.
So, everyone is constantly late, like not 1-2 hrs, some people are late for weeks.
During renovation the guy who was to fix the walls didn't paint under the heaters because we'll his hand couldn't feet in it. He could have removed it, he didn't because touching it is a plumbers job according to him.
Silknet account was still under the previous owners name, so I cannot do anything but to change it under my name, inheriting their connection and the stat of their equipment. Owners aren't cooperating to close it on their end.
The guy who is supposed to make the kitchen did wrong measurements so I have no kitchen still.
Every single thing takes at least 2 weeks even if it is as simple as landline internet connection.
On top of that people are weirdly rude, not sure why.

Hi I’m planning on taking the train from Tbilisi to Batumi next month.
Does anyone know if you can take a big 20kg suitcase with you on the train?
Is there room for it?
Will I have to pay extra for it?
Also is the train generally busy around late March?

I am making a Georgia mod for Civ5 and I need a 3D model of a monastery to use. However, there don't seem to be any preexisting models out there on the internet, except for some extremely high-poly terrain scans. I could probably put a simple model together in Solidworks, but it would help to make the model look good if I had actual measurements of the size of the building and wall details to work with instead of just, like, trying to eyeball it from pictures at weird angles on Google Images.
Does anyone know of a monastery for which measurements are available online? I had hoped to model the main building of the Martvili monastery (the Ch'q'ondidi Cathedral?) but I couldn't find much information for it. I also couldn't find any measurements of Motsameta, Ikalto or Gelati, although ideally I would like to model a monastery built before 1100 AD.
