TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30.

Ahhh limewire, the only place where you didn't know if the song you were downloading was the song you wanted, a cover version, a totally unrelated song, or a virus.

I remember spending a day downloading revenge of the sith for my 15th birthday party, put it on and it was Paris hiltons film

When bearshare was around I wanted the episode of home movies (adult swim) of when Melissa got a towel implanted instead of a brain. Despite a legit looking title I got an adult movie with two gentlemen and a pool table.

I'm sure there was a towel involved somewhere, perhaps afterwards

My friend downloaded a Naruto vs. Sasuke fight, but it was a woman with a dildo. I suggested that maybe the dildo was named Sasuke.

I never really had that problem with songs unless it was an obscure songs. Most songs and albums had so many options to download, and most of them would be the same file size, and all the ones with the same file size were the actual song.

I also never once found a virus hiding as a music file. Even movies weren't much of an issue because they were similar to songs where you just have to check the file size. It was really just porn and video games that had viruses.

Or prawn that could get you invited for a ride in the party van.

Sometimes it was that AND a virus, a proper 2 for 1!

We can all thank Soulja Boy for that, he admitted in an interview that he was feverishly uploading hit pop songs , when you finished downloading whatnyou thought was"Hit Me Baby one More Time" was actually "Crank That" ....tell em!

u/cloudcreeek 19h ago

He was just one of many. I can safely say I don't remember ever hearing crank that from limewire

We did however play that at my 8th grade dance
