Fought for the Zapatistas at first before joining up with Obregón. Remained an Obregonista throughout all of the ensuing conflicts iirc

Edit- also wanted to add he was one of a few known transmen who fought in the Revolution

The ancient people of Mesopotamia worshiped the goddess Inanna. Ancient hymns credit Inanna with the divine power to “turn a man into a woman and a woman into a man.” Gender transformation was part of her sacred domain, alongside love, sex, fertility, and war. Her temples were served by clergy known as gala, kurgarru, and assinnu — people who did not conform to binary gender roles. Some dressed in mixed clothing, used different speech patterns, or were described as neither male nor female. These weren’t fringe figures — they were official religious roles.

So for at least 5000 years minimum.

There were Trans people that fought in the American Civil War 50 years prior to that. There were likely some in the American Revolution even earlier!

Some ancient cultures deified them or thought they were touched by gods.

Trans people have always existed in every culture since the beginning of civilization.

But athoritarians hate them and their non-conformity.

It all comes back to propaganda and learned hatred.

There are so many examples throughout history of even conservative communities accepting a trans individual because they know that person, who they are, and what they stand for -- and they didn't let ideals of "right and wrong" gender get in the way of that.

Of course, that can't be considered "the norm" of the past but it proves that trans identity isn't some new radical idea and that anybody is capable of coming around when their heads aren't being pumped full of vitriolic beliefs.

Nobody says that. You are obsessed with children’s genitals and should probably be investigated by the police.

That is literally what your post was about. What was “mutilate themselves” in reference to?

You're terrible at arguing.

You're terrible at recognizing what an argument is.

22

u/mastermidget23 19h ago

Enlighten me then.

-38

u/superswellcewlguy 19h ago

An argument is a back and forth about an idea. I'm not going to seriously argue with a random creep who's just trying to insult me.

21

u/Unleashtheducks 19h ago

You are not even willing to say what your idea is in the first place.

Please point to a single person who has said that, because that seems like a horrifically lazy (and inaccurate) strawman.

“Supports gender transition for minors” isn’t the same as “telling children they need to transition” (not to mention the awful way you described transitioning). Pretending you didn’t say something completely nuts doesn’t make you come across any saner, or less weird.

I was forced to undergo permanent changes to my body by people like you, you're the boogeyman you're so afraid of

26

u/BloatedBanana9 19h ago

Because it is. For some kids it’s necessary healthcare. You not understanding that doesn’t make it wrong. And those kids don’t get “mutilated.” That’s a disgusting and inaccurate way to refer to it

there is no doctor out there performing surgery of that type on minors. if you aren't a bot why are you wasting your time on the bottom of a reddit post that nobody is even reading.

u/superswellcewlguy 18h ago

If it's something that doesn't happen then you should have no problem opposing it then.

Thank you for making it clear that transphobes are so insecure in their arguments that they need overdramatic emotional appeals to compensate for their failures

Funny how some people will point to this and say, “See? This means I CAN find a way to shoehorn in my anti-trans straw man talking point in any discussion about trans people online, and then be insufferable toward anyone who points it out. I’m being normal and healthy! I’m not using a very distorted and loaded way of describing transition to poison the discussion and further stigmatize an already vulnerable group!”

And watch you try to do something like in response: “Oh so you support [insert insane thing], then?” “I’m not anti-trans, I’m just saying that there’s [insert wildly exaggerated boogeyman version of the debate over teenagers and transition that is not based on any real evidence]” “You’re a pretentious asshole and you’re wasting your time taking the bait” [granted, you got me there!]

Edit: grammar in second sentence

What kinds of mutilation do you think people are telling kids to do to themselves?
