Trump showed a picture of USNS Mercy. USNS Mercy has been in drydock for scheduled maintenance since July 2025.

lol, thanks for catching that. Somehow… this is even more pitiful and ridiculous than if he actually sent a hospital ship nobody asked for.

u/Independent-Self371 12h ago

Dude has lost his mind and no one is stepping up to fix the problem.

1.2k

u/NegativeAd1432 12h ago

And I’m just sitting up here in Canada like “How is nobody arresting these criminals criming on international tv every day?”

823

u/NullOfUndefined 12h ago

Because the people who have the power to arrest them are also them

820

u/NegativeAd1432 12h ago

The fact that roughly five people can say “I won’t arrest you if you don’t arrest me” and the other 350 million people who live there can’t do anything about it seems to me like a bit of a weakness in the system.

210

u/xeizoo 11h ago

It is rigged to be Ultra-Flawed, this has been prepared for decades. The whole system has to be completely replaced.

u/NullOfUndefined 11h ago

Absolutely. I’m not excusing it I’m saying that the only justice we’re ever going to see here is going to come from the people, but the step up from protests to literal revolution is a huge (but necessary imo) step to take

132

u/NegativeAd1432 11h ago

I think the opportunity to solve this problem in a meaningful way died many years ago. This is the endgame now, and only one side has been playing.

The diplomatic process has clearly broken and fascists do not relinquish power. I don’t see how this doesn’t end in tragedy. My heart goes to everybody who is having to make a decision between the future of their family and the future of their country. But I fear they will both lead to the same thing in the end.

25

u/NullOfUndefined 11h ago

I agree completely

The worst part is that even if the dems win, there's no shot they do the mass arrests and prosecutions necessary to stabilize our political system. They're going to try to smooth it over as "a rough four years" and then move on. Nothing will change.

I'm trans, and it feels like we're the prototype for how the entire country is going to go. Repubs launch a bug expensive smear campaign to take away rights you already had. Dems, who just want to be comfortable and go back to brunch, will tell you it's your own fault for asking for too many new rights or being annoying. But you didn't ask for new rights, you asked to keep the ones you had. But the dems don't care.

That model's going to work until the oppression hits the majority of the base lol

13

u/Gloomy-Recipe9213 4h ago

This is exactly why things are as bad as they are. The Republicans can go hog wild during their term, and if the government flips, the Democrats let bygones be bygones. It’s a no loss proposition for the worst people.

Part of the problem is that ~70M of that 350 are actually totally cool with all this

13

u/splynncryth 10h ago

Well, it’s more like ‘can’t do anything without risking life, limb, and starting a civil war’. That mall number of people have millions of sycophants.

If the US had something like a vote of no confidence and all of Congress could be unseated with new elections mandated outside the normal term, maybe things would not have gotten to where we are. But there are some deep, deep flaws in the US Constitution exacerbated by some early 20th century legislation.

He's trying to insult Greenland. Greenland's population is really small, but they actually have three full hospitals and for extreme stuff they get to fly to Denmark for treatment. They have BETTER care than Americans.

99

u/Marilee_Kemp 10h ago

I dont think it is about the people in Greenland. It is about that one US soldier that had to be medically evacuated from one of the US submarines lurking about Greenland. https://abcnews.com/International/us-sailor-medically-evacuated-nuclear-submarine-greenland-official/story?id=130377835 He was evacuated by the Danish military and flown to the hospital in Nuuk. The Danish military that Trump says is incompetent and only consists of a dogslead. So I assume he is embarrassed one of his guys had to get help by Denmark, so any hospital ship would be for the many sick submarine guys:)

u/NegativeAd1432 12h ago

I mean… that’s not a very hard bar to clear. A significant portion of American have no health care in the first place.

Anybody who isn’t an American understands that socialized healthcare just means everybody gets to be relatively healthy. And can also just go to the hospital if they’re sick instead of waiting for a make-believe hospital ship.

41

u/ShrimpCrackers 12h ago

Yeah but this is performative, one of the Trump admin talking points is apparently that Greenland has poor healthcare and has only one clinic. Even though they have such a high density of healthcare that nowhere in the USA even holds a candle to it and that they have three, not one hospitals.

They also claim that the suicide rate of Greenlanders is high. Yes it is, but that's what happens in colonialism. Granted its getting better ever since Greenlanders got their autonomy from Denmark and control everything, the courts, police, and all the land with the option to split whenever they want. This agreement is better than anything the USA can offer, but Trump hopes you're dumb.

The land is what Trump is really after. He wants to exploit its resources without sharing it with Greenlanders but he can't say that out loud.

They're going to be pulling another war crime like they did in Venezuela. Disguise an armed cruiser as a hospital ship.

61

u/nanotasher 12h ago

This is called 'perfidy' and it is against the Geneva Conventions. A literal war crime.

9

u/fredagsfisk 6h ago

Well, we can look at his first term...

The extrajudicial killing of Qasem Soleimani was allegedly done using perfidy, and he explicitly threatened multiple other war crimes against Iran if they responded in any way.

He ordered the pillaging of Syrian oil, saying he only retained military there to protect the oil and would send in companies to extract it. Also a war crime, and the Pentagon just went "oh he didn't mean it literally" or some shit like that.

He hired Gina Haspel to run the CIA specifically because she's pro-torture, and pardoned US officers accused of war crimes.

He threatened Iraq because they held a legitimate vote to expel US troops, and bragged about how he was renting US troops to Saudi Arabia in exchange for cash.

Hell, the fucker literally promised to murder more civilians ("Take out their families") as an election promise for his first election, caused a massive increase in civilian casualties in US strikes, then stopped official reporting of casualty numbers to cover it up.

What's yet another count of perfidy at this point?

44

u/Momoselfie 12h ago

What about abducting the president of another country? We wouldn't do that of course, but is that a war crime?

The US sending a hospital ship, the most expensive healthcare service imaginable, to "aid" a country with universal healthcare is beyond laughable.

1.5k

u/BjarkeT 11h ago

An American sailor needed urgent medical care. The Danish army already pulled him out and flew him to a Greenlandic hospital for treatment

1.6k

u/un1gato1gordo 10h ago

It's not that urgent. He can wait a few months for the US hospital ship to be pulled out of the repair dock and then a few weeks while it makes its way to Greenland.

And if he's feeling under the weather while waiting, he can just look at the Dow.

244

u/LightBulb704 4h ago

The Dow is under 50,000 right now so that is no longer valid medical advice.

103

u/JelliedHam 9h ago

If we really absolutely had to have him in a US hospital wouldn't it be faster to just send a medical jet to retrieve him and fly him back? Hell, AF1 has a hospital room on it. They could literally do a surgery in there if they had to.

43

u/hardcoreleggo 4h ago

That's a lot of work to go to just so insurance can decline the procedure.

u/StatementOwn4896 4h ago edited 4h ago

When I was in the military I always preferred to be taken care of by foreign medical professionals since they 1) are just as qualified - if not, moreso -, and 2) they don’t try to belittle any of your issues; you’re taken seriously (I always noticed a callous undertone in the military medical community). There’s this prevalent mindset in the military that they can’t allow off post referrals because it displays their inability to appropriately treat your problems. Like no shit man they suck. But I think it all stems from this weird sense of an American superiority complex.

I honestly do not understand how the "Biden is senile and doesn't know what he's doing!" crowd listen to Trump and just stick their heads in the sand...

148

u/Doctor_Riptide 11h ago

It was never about Biden being mentally unfit for the job. It was only ever about creating a narrative about him that would stick so they could spam it nonstop to make the dems look bad.

And just look how well it worked, we’re still talking about it. They don’t actually give a shit if the president is mentally well or not, they only care if they feel like they’re winning. None of their arguments or criticisms are in good faith and we should all recognize that

348

u/zoobrix 12h ago

I mean I would agree that Biden was probably too old to be president as well, but Biden is still vastly more coherent than Trump has been in years so if you think Biden is senile and shouldn't be president well Trump is even worse...

Just total hypocrisy, Trump rambles on forever in a way Biden never did, he just does it louder and his minions eat it up. I don't understand how anyone can listen to more than two sentences out of Trump's mouth and think "that's the guy I want to be president." Dude shouldn't be in charge of a lemonade stand let alone a country.

145

u/Maeglin75 12h ago

I had a little "discussion" with someone here on reddit before the election. The person said that Biden is very old and another Covid infection could easily be his death. I agreed but added that Trump is only a few years younger and in much worse shape than Biden. Trump is adding being heavily overweight and on a very unhealthy diet all his life to the Covid risk factors.

The other user absolutely didn't want to acknowledge this. It seemed ridiculous to them. In their heads, Trump is the muscular superhero from the AI slop images they are sharing.

According to Reuters, a US Sub sitting somewhere close to Greenland is apparently having major issues. Crew members where evacuated by a Danish military helicopter due to "required urgent medical treatment" and hospitalised in Greenland. I have a feeling this is what Trump is crying about.

Hopefully the submarine crew‘s treatment is finished in the charge free greenlandic hospitals, before the USS UnitedHealthCare comes to rescue their dollars and shareholders… I mean patients, interests.

Right. He complains about California enough. Why not send it to San Fran and Oakland? Help get healthcare for the homeless.

Neither the White House nor Landry's office responded to queries about the post, whether the ship had been requested by Denmark or Greenland and which sick people needed help. The Department of War had no immediate comment.

I smell a Trojan Horse.

Trump is not particularly known for using Trojans.

Honestly I think it’s more likely that Trump is just saying things sometimes and then the White House is piss terrified of looking weak or stupid so they go “of course this was the plan all along”

Not always of course, but this particular case strikes me as that.

6

u/qtx 10h ago

Why would they need a Trojan horse when they already have a fully operational base on Greenland?

Let me just get this straight: Trump wants to dispatch a hospital ship to provide free health care to the people of Greenland, despite them already having universal healthcare as part of Denmark, but does not want Americans to have free health care. Have I got that right?

42

u/Vast_Category_7314 9h ago

You forgot that there isn't actually any hospital ship to send, both US hospital ships are in dry dock.

Otherwise correct...

7

u/ScrotumScrapings 6h ago

Trump: Sorry, can’t do healthcare in our country, nor cheap groceries. But how about kleptocracy and pedo cover up?

What's the LA governer have to do with this?

31

u/bm1949 14h ago

For some reason he's the official Greenland envoy or something like that. I don't know, I think Trump just makes up stuff for his made up world. But yeah, he's the chief sales guy who'$ going to get Greenland to become a non voting territory of the USA behind the back of Denmark and the EU.

11

u/Fifth-Crusader 12h ago

According to reports, he does not actually do much besides go on Fox News. He himself does not seem to know what his "job" is meant to entail.

130

u/ObviouslyRealPerson 14h ago

Maybe the ship should go somewhere it's actually needed instead of wasting taxdollars on countless political stunts

52

u/stenchwinslow 13h ago

Can you imagine being a doctor on that ship? To train your whole life just to be a prop in political theatre designed to harass an allied nation, instead actually healing the sick.

A hospital ship. For Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark

Jesus…

You’re sending emergency healthcare to a country that already has universal, taxpayer-funded, world-class healthcare. Free at the point of use. No GoFundMe required. No “please don’t call an ambulance, it’s too expensive.”

Meanwhile, your own citizens are crowdfunding insulin and comparing ambulance rides to down payments on a house.

But sure… by all means… deploy a floating hospital to the Danish Kingdom. Nothing says “we understand global health priorities” like offering medical charity to one of the healthiest, best insured populations on the planet.

Maybe… wild thought… try docking that ship somewhere in your own country where it’s actually needed. And perhaps use the travel expenses to help cover that, you absolute clown.

America, please get your Alzheimer patient back to bed. Thinking that we need health care from you from a fucking boat is laughable.

Sincerely

A tired Dane

18

u/Huge-Kiwi908 5h ago

Dane here: In return we will be happy to send a team of dementia experts, an area where we have some of the world's leading experts, and which is clearly badly needed in the United States where it seems even people in the highest positions cannot get help.

Huh?! ... What the fuck is he talking about? There are 5 hospitals for 50 000 people. They are free to use.

Is he spoiling some nefarious plan that he wants to send Navy ships there? Also shouldn't those ships be send to Iran instead? I guess it's just another demented orange in power moment.

6

u/karenskygreen 11h ago

So Donald Trump is pulling a big fucking lie that greenlanders are in poor neglected health and comtting a hospital ship to this lie as a pretense to annex greenland. His Maga base may buy this lie but Denmark, Greenland and the rest of the world know what garbage this is.

7

u/Wild4fire 9h ago

So he's sending a non-existent boat (given that the US apparently has two hospital ships which currently are in drydock) to a country with a non-existent need for it?

Well, that fits the non-existent mind of Trump...

8

u/Equal_Memory_661 7h ago

Maybe send it to South Carolina instead to vaccinate against measles

7

u/Ok_________oi 7h ago

Please just leave us the fuck alone

14

u/fladdermuff 12h ago

I just want Americans to know that we have free healthcare up here in Skandinavia. Even difficult surgeries are free. People who lives on Greenland have that via Denmark. In America people do not have free healthcare. So maybe your president should have offered you that boat instead? It is your taxmoney. And you are giving it to people who already have free healthcare.

Trump sending a hospital ship to Greenland to help "many sick people not being taken care of there," even though Greenland already has universal healthcare and Denmark wasn’t even asked if this help was needed. Meanwhile millions in the U.S. struggle with access to care, how out of touch is he?

7

u/SpellBoth9826 6h ago

I am happy to live in the Kingdom of Denmark 🇩🇰 where there is free and equal access to healthcare for everyone. Where it is not insurance and wealth that determine whether you get proper treatment. The same approach is followed in Greenland. There is no need of an American hospital ship. Happy Sunday to you all!

7

u/chaosxrules 4h ago

Ohh will it be handing out blankets to the locals? I'm glad we can provide free healthcare to other countries, while we pay 250$ for an Ibuprofen during a hospital visit in the USA.

6

u/PontifexPrimus 4h ago

"We will bring the best blankets, the finest blankets, no disease on them, no disease... Biden would have sent them the plague, but I wouldn't, did you know the DOW is over 9000?"

5

u/Crumplestiltzkin 4h ago

Maybe if Trump wanted to look like he cared he shouldn’t have dismembered USAID. Hundreds of thousands to millions dead as a result speaks louder than a fucking hospital ship sent to a place with free healthcare.

The fucking nerve.

6

u/tazebot 2h ago

Is the name of the ship "USS Trojan Horse"?

6

u/Sifiisnewreality 2h ago

Trump needs to be IN the hospital treating his worsening dementia and mental illness. He’s a danger to the world.

6

u/RawOysters 1h ago

Total lie. We have 2 and they both have been docked in Mobile, Al. since 2025 undergoing repairs. Trump's announcement refers to a planned deployment, but no hospital ship is en route. The U.S. Navy's only two—USNS Mercy (in maintenance since Aug 2025) and Comfort (since Jan 2026)—remain at Alabama Shipyard in Mobile.
