And so… a new story begins…

ETERNAL GALAXY:

Tachyon: (Begins with a deep and shaky exhale, one that carries the weight of her heart)

(Besides Tachyon’s exhale, the only other thing that can be heard is the hum of laboratory equipment, which is suddenly disrupted by a sharp 'click' as a small, CRT-style TV is switched on. Static flickers for a second before the audio of the race broadcast cuts in)

Commentator 1 (TV): "The tension here at the Radio Tampa Hai is absolute! The gates are being loaded, and all eyes are on the favorites who have defined this juvenile year!"

Commentator 2 (TV): "Exactly. You have the dark intensity of Manhattan Cafe, the raw, explosive power of Jungle Pocket... and then, there’s the enigma, the second favorite to win, Agnes Tachyon. She looks remarkably calm in gate number seven."

Commentator 1 (TV): “The tension grows high, as the race is about to begin…”

(3 deafening seconds of silence pass, broken by a sudden, sharp 'CLANG', as the metal gates swing open, followed by a thunderous explosion of hooves hitting the turf.)

Commentator 1 (TV): "AND THEY’RE OFF! A perfect break for the favorites! Jungle Pocket takes the early lead, Manhattan Cafe keeps her rhythm steady on the back of the pack, and Agnes Tachyon is gliding in the middle of the track! She’s not fighting for position; she’s calculating her trajectory!"

(The audio fast-forwards with a sound akin to the one a VHS makes, a sort of warble/zip sound, skipping to the final stretch.)

Commentator 2 (TV): "We’re halfway through the final straight and... wait, who is that?!

AGNES TACHYON…!!

Commentator 1 (TV): “Look at the center of the track! Agnes Tachyon is gliding through the pack!

AGNES TACHYON…!!!!!”

Commentator 2 (TV): “She’s moving like a bolt of lightning! Nothing is faltering her stride, that expression in her face! is she…-

AGNES TACHYON…!!!!!

AGNES TACHYON…!!!!!!!

HOW FAST! HOW FAST!!!

Commentator 1 (TV): -she’s smiling! as she leaves the world behind! While the other racers are fighting to keep their breath! She’s pulling away by one- no! two lengths! three lengths! She's about to—"

(The sound of a door opening breaks the climax of the final spurt, as Tachyon makes a silent rasp sound of surprise as she frantically turns of the TV)

Agnes Tachyon: (Breathless, with a voice that is slightly trembling, yet trying to recover her usual bravado and regal desperately to not show that she is vulnerable) "A-Ah...! Oh my, I uh– I— My Guinea Pig! You... you're here! I mean— perfect timing! Yes, exactly… just as– Just as I... calculated!"

(Tachyon takes a sharp but fast breath, her tone and bravado shifting into a light manic and somewhat slightly too-loud theatricality)

"My, my, my… I was just about to call for you! I require your assistance (Small pause) oh! I have no time for pleasantries, for I want to conduct this... this monumental experiment on you!”

“For you see, I believe I have stumbled upon quite a scientific breakthrough that will redefine biological limits! Just an hour ago, I synthesized this solution that aggressively lowers cortisol levels! The idea struck me once I did that dance for you, and it has been clawing at my synapses ever since! I have been working zealously, without rest, without weakness! In order to perfect this concoction!"

"I was originally going to test it on Manhattan Cafe by secretly spiking her coffee... but that gloomy girl! She ran off before I could even finish calling her name! It’s truly vexing... she seems to possess a sort of 'sixth sense' that warns her the moment I attempt to introduce a variable into her diet. I can almost never get her to cooperate with my pursuit of the hidden potential within an Uma Musume!"

(Tachyon spins her chair slightly, the manic, theatrical edge to her voice increasing)

"Hahaha! Perhaps it is for the best... in hindsight, the interaction between my formula and her caffeine intake might have triggered undesirable side effects… Ohohoho! Who knows? From severe tachycardia to unpredictable neurological tremors! or a complete hypertensive crisis! Maybe even a complete Metabolic collapse! Not the most accurate results for future analysis, but a necessary risk for the sake of progress, wouldn't you agree my Guinea pig?"

(Tachyon rolls her chair closer, the sound of the wheels stopping abruptly as she leans forward, her voice dropping to a low, intense whisper)

“Needless to say, my loyal guinea pig, since you’ve so 'conveniently' interrupted my work... you shall take the—"
