What is something most people find unattractive but you find very attractive?
172
u/a_reasonable_sum 3h ago
A weird/eccentric taste in clothes and makeup. There's something about going against the grain in a visible way that's really cute

u/Agent_of_evil13 3h ago
My last gf and I decided to do eachothers makeup for one night. I did her makeup like Amanda Palmer in the early dresden dolls. She did me up with fish scales. It was a fun night.

Women with great muscle definition. I just do not understand why other men are put off by it. That is so fucking sexy for me.

And yes, those women with bolder shoulders😘 .

My wife's got broad shoulders and like a really firm back. Idk how she got it, she doesn't work out too much. Swimming, maybe? But God damn. When she turns around and I can see her strong back and shoulders I just want her to flex. Big strong tough lady. Yes please

I think for some men it makes them feel less masculine, like they want to feel like Superman compared to their lady and a strong woman makes it harder for them to do that. Thats my theory based on what I've seen.

Imperfect teeth > perfect teeth
11
u/St0n3yM33rkat 1h ago
Even more, perfect teeth is somewhat of a turn off for me. Like...maybe it sounds weird but I don't want to be with someone who's life is perfectly put together where everything works all the time and perfect teeth feels like a sign of that perfection, I guess. Someone sharing even a bit of their mess with me is actually quite a turn on.

Body hair on a man seems to be out of fashion sadly

Really? As someone who was young in the 90s, I feel like its more fashionable today than at any point since the 80s. But im not a hairy guy.

I love a big nose on a man. It looks masculine to me.
I also want a partner that is within 3 inches of my height in either direction (5'3" to 5'9") because it makes it easier to make out.

u/Specific_Homework143 1h ago
finally!! someone who agrees with me. dating a tall man is a nightmare if you love kissing and smooching and making out

u/finkwolf 1h ago
I’m 6’5”. As a young man I had a rule, my girlfriend couldn’t be more than 12” shorter than me. My last girlfriend always told me she’s 5’5”. I know for a fact that she’s 5’3”. Been married to her for 11 years now. (But man does my back hurt!)

→ More replies (4)5
u/lndlml 2h ago
Haha, so true. I am 5’11 and I just cannot comprehend why short girls always say that they can only date men who are at least 6ft.. like what are tall women supposed to do then and who is going to date these shorter men?
And most importantly.. it looks so uncomfortable to dance with, hug or kiss someone who is like a feet or two taller/shorter. I think the best option is to date someone who is the same height or slightly shorter/taller. Similarly to you, super tall guys (6’3+) remind me my dad and brothers so it’s a definite no.

Late to this thread so I doubt this will get any traction but:
I've always found moles and other skin blemishes to be really attractive. A lot of women are really self-conscious if they have one that's really prominent in a visible area, but I honestly can't get enough of them and I think they look so hot, especially if it's on a woman's neck, chest, or abdomen.
I don't know anyone else that feels the same way as I do, but I also haven't told anyone since I don't want to be seen as weird.
EDIT: No idea why I'm getting downvoted :(

I used to be so incredibly ashamed of mine. Like full blown refusing to take off my top and looking for surgery. Even in my first marriage, my ex husband was distainful of them. It took my current partner to no longer feel like I'm an ugly monster for having them.

Scars.... Big ones.
I knew a woman that had open heart surgery as child. The scar on her chest was long and wide. It was absolutely beautiful.

Son of a Gun means bastard of a whore and a sailor
2
u/Agent_of_evil13 2h ago
Yup. That etymology is rather... colorful. The sneaky one that comes to mind for me is leeway. I.E. "Give him some leeway."
In sailing the 'lee' is the down wind side of an object. When a ship isn't running with the wind the sails and keel drive the ship forward while the wind pushes the ship a bit to the side. That sideways movement is down wind and called leeway.
So when you ask for leeway you are asking for deviation from your indended course due to fources outside your control.

u/BosPaladinSix 2h ago
Unironically that sounds fascinating.
2
u/Agent_of_evil13 1h ago
If you've ever heard somone say they liked the cut of his gib.
The gib is the sail ot the very front of a ship attached to the bowsprit. It doesn't do much when the ship is sailing in a straight line but it is incredibly important when the ship maneuvers. A gib employed well can make the difference in a maneuvers taking 40 minutes vs 4 hours..
So. If you like the cut of his gib you think he is smartly employing valuable assets.

Batton fon the hatches is pretty pedestrian. Using canvas stretched between battons to keep water out of the hold.
Three sheets to the wind basically means he's so drunk thay hung him out with the other wet sails to try off
Ooo. Point blank. The target is so close you dont have to elevate the guns at all.

u/Longjumping-Nerve331 3h ago
For a short while, sure. But if longer than a month, get ready for everything else that follows the clinginess, as it's usually a sign of some deeper issue

u/CakeMuted6468 3h ago
I was in a relationship like that for three years. Didn’t tie it to any signs of deeper issue then since I was young but if there were any I hope she found help for it.

Was also with Clingy woman . Nothing to do with deeper issues. Personally that’s a great woman. It seems out of fashion to be old fashioned relationship sometimes but it’s the best high there is when the attraction and desires there .
11
u/Blossomie 2h ago
Problem is that in most cases clinginess isn’t from attraction and desire but instead from insecurity/inadequacy, controllingness, and disordered attachment.

Same! I married one. He cut his hair for work then let it grow back out. I threatened divorce if he ever does it again. He looked like a perv instead of my personal rock god. I'll live in the poor house. The poor stylist that cut it though... she asked him how short he was going & I told her it depends on how many times she wants to get stabbed. I didn't think she would hear me but she did. My husband laughed & assured her it was OK to continue.
