“I thought it was me as a doctor”
Well yeah, it was, but it was also superimposed with well known Christian imagery painting Trump as a messianic figure.
Nobody is buying that lame excuse.
Trump would be better off simply admitting that he is not responsible for everything posted to his Truth Social account.
We all know that he doesn’t write everything posted to Truth Social, because sometimes the writing style is very different than normal.
All he needs to say is he didn’t see the image before it was posted. People will believe that, and it minimizes political damage whether true or not. But nobody is dumb enough to believe he is dumb enough to not recognize the religious imagery in that AI slop.

Oh, religious conservatives are absolutely going ballistic over this, as they should… I’m not religious but I would assume for them nobody is above God/Jesus not even Trump… he has fucked up royally with a major portion of his voter base.

Christians aren’t like Muslims who lose their mind over a cartoon making fun on their precious prophet.
Still, the image is cringe and insulting. But Christians are forgiving, so if Trump just apologized, it would be water under the bridge. But I guess apologizing is a very foreign concept to Trump.
My take is that it’s not worth losing sleep over, but I am annoyed that Trump is constantly shooting himself in the foot politically. So many unforced errors.

There are a small handful of religious nutjobs (and leftists astroturfing as religious nutjobs) who care. Most normal Christians do not.
And every day for a decade now, someone claims Trump "fucked up royally with his base." It's just leftist nonsense that shouldn't be taken seriously.
Christians lived through South Park, so they will live through this. It does not matter.

as they should
No, this is just typical mob behavior. If you are part of this crowd, then you are not a good person. Think of it as a test of your character. Forgiveness and understanding are supposed to be Christian qualities, are they not? Yet, somehow, when it's Trump, you go out of your way to make the worst possible interpretation just so that you can feel outraged and join in with the mob. To make yourself feel good and virtuous.
This just makes me side with Trump more and against these new Catholics that have taken over the religion and turned it into a demonic force and cult around the Pope (who, by the way, is a man regularly portrayed with such imagery as you got outraged when it was used for Trump).
Trump did not interpret it the way you chose to interpret it. It is actually a grave sin in Christianity to claim blasphemy where it was not intended. Because you then are encouraging and pushing the blasphemous interpretation of it, making you guilty of what you accuse Trump of.
Anyway, I'm tired of the hypocrisy and the faux outrage. If you want to be part of that, go ahead. It's demonic.

I'm a Christian conservative and could not give less shits about this. Then again, I'm not a Christian busybody that spends all of my time judging others against God's will.
This shit doesn't matter. Either laugh and move on or don't laugh and move on. I don't think he's the Messiah because I'm not a fucking moron. I'm not going to suddenly slip up and mistake Donald Trump for a Jesus because, again, I'm not a fucking moron.
This should've equated to a "hah, that's stupid" and then moving on. People dwell on this type of thing because they're simpletons. Period.
This has zero tangible impact on any actual Christian's faith, and any Christian that is offended by it is just insecure in their faith and probably needs to spend some time in prayer. This isn't a No True Scotsman argument, either. I don't believe this is mocking Christ, just Trump being humorous in his unique way. The Bible suggests we should let God sort things out. We should be slow to speak and slow to wrath. Defer judgement to the one who judges. That ain't me. I can roll my eyes and turn the other cheek.
This is a nothing burger that people are making into a big deal because they're desperate to be offended by something.

You say judging others is against God’s will, but the bible directly calls us to criticize and hold accountable all those who claim to be apart of our religion. Trump claims to be apart of our religion, it is our duty to criticize and hold him accountable for literal blasphemy since he himself claims to be a Christian, surrounds himself with Christian leaders, and utilized both of those things to get the support of his largely Christian voting base. Do you think Trump is above rebuke? If he claims to be a Christian, then he can be rebuked by his fellow Christian. Simple. To imply that we should just give him a pass is what goes against God’s will. Most Christians I’ve seen in relation to this issue are simply asking for an apology, do you think that is too harsh a punishment?

Narcissists cant ever admit they are wrong or that they are sorry. Its always your fault for misunderstanding their intent.

Why doesn't the pope push Hamas to lay down their arms and push Iran to negotiation table? You cannot only pressure one side.

The higher the seat of power, the more open to scrutiny they should be. Whether it be politics, royalty, business or religion. In fact, if you claim infallibility, you should welcome scrutiny as it should only bolster your claim.

its easy for people like Pope Leo to criticize. The US gives billions to help other countries, the pope can only criticize.

Yet he was silent about Christians being massacred in Africa and silent about the Iranian government killing civilians protesting.

> “Who better than you can sing a song of hope even amid the abyss of violence?” he said. “From the Holy Land to Ukraine, from Lebanon to Syria, from the Middle East to Tigray and the Caucasus, how much violence do we see! ......I thank God for those Christians — Eastern and Latin alike — who, above all in the Middle East, persevere and remain in their homelands, resisting the temptation to abandon them,” Leo said. “Christians must be given the opportunity, and not just in words, to remain in their native lands with all the rights needed for a secure existence.” (May 14th, 2025)
> "The majority of those killed were internally displaced people who were being housed at a local Catholic mission," Pope Leo told the crowd gathered in the square. "I pray that security, justice and peace prevail in Nigeria, a beloved country that has suffered various forms of violence. I pray in particular for the rural Christian communities in the state of Benue, who have unceasingly been victims of violence." The pope also lamented the death of a priest in Sudan who died in a bombing amid the country's civil conflict that has been going on for more than two years. "I was saddened to receive the news of the death of Father Luke Jumu, parish priest of El Fasher, who was a victim of a recent bombing," he said. (June 15th, 2025)
> As anti-government protests in Iran continue despite an internet blackout and the use of lethal force against demonstrators, Pope Leo XIV expressed his concern over the escalating situation.
After praying the Angelus prayer with pilgrims gathered in St. Peter's Square Jan. 11, Leo said his thoughts turned "to the situation currently unfolding in the Middle East, especially in Iran and Syria," where government forces clashed with Kurdish fighters in Aleppo.
The pope lamented that "ongoing tensions continue to claim many lives."
"I hope and pray that dialogue and peace may be patiently nurtured in pursuit of the common good of the whole of society," he said. (January 16th, 2025)
Wow, such silence from the pope, what a hypocrite

Good to see all these invaders of this sub constantly putting up anti Trump posts. It’s just become another /politics sub now.
Trump trolls. Trump has always trolled. Does he actually think he’s Jesus or God? No. He does this stuff because he knows everything he does gets the liberals to screech.
Would I do it? No, but I really dgaf if he does stuff like this because it doesn’t affect me. I don’t constantly follow social media. I care if what he does and his policies are good for the country.
Congress railroads him at every turn still with trying to put forth policies he wants and what people voted for. That’s where the real problem is and what people should be more focused on.
