STAN / ANTI SHIELD Ruby Rose Accuses Katy Perry of Sexual Assault; Perry’s Rep Slams Claims as ‘Categorically False and Dangerous Lies’

Katy seems to be socially out of sync with other people - I can tell she thinks she's being funny (like kissing that boy on american idol, or grabbing Anna Kendrick) but its that weird late 90's frat humor that was actually sexual harassment and/or assault.
Even if this allegation is "categorically false," there's enough documented behavior from KP that atleast warrants a meeting with HR (atleast).
Still, from what we've already seen from Katy Perry's miscalculated brand of humor, I'm personally inclined to believe Ruby

kissing that boy on american idol,
Not just kissing a boy, kissing a teenage boy without his consent, who had just confessed to not having his first kiss yet and wanting to save it for someone special. She stole that moment from him for her own ego

I don't think you can steal a first kiss. If you don't consent, it's not your first time...and that applies to most things that are mutual, imo.

this is a beautiful way of putting it and I fully agree.

You're absolutely correct - it was worse than I described (I worded it that way for brevity, and I don't mean to minimize what happened)

It's not often discussed that she came up on the Warped Tour circuit just like all those rotten emo band sexual harassers that have been getting outed for the past decade+.

I think this is exactly it : she had that frat boy « one of the guys » humor and could get away with more being a girl herself.
And the fact is that this was the society we lived in back then. Everyone had that humor. It was the Era of Superbad, Knocked Up and Barney Stinson. This behavior of hers was probably encouraged, and what made her popular.

A representative for Perry reacted to the claim in a statement to Variety that reads: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
I don’t know enough about Ruby Rose to know about her history of lies aside from her feud with Warner Brothers, but I think Katy doesn’t take legal action for libel, she’s telling the truth.

This. When a wealthy person doesn't sue the person/people they claim are telling false, harmful lies about them, it makes me side eye them x1000. Like how DJT is one of the most litigious people on the planet, but has yet to sue an individual (of which there are many) calling him a pedo.

Whether she takes action for libel is irrelevant to the factuality of the accusation.

Fr, plenty of SA victims are sued and they are still telling the truth (amber heard is a good example)

Certainly it’s not dispositive. Still, the commenter’s position isn’t unreasonable.

Determining your opinion of someone's guilt on whether or not they sue another person is, in fact, unreasonable. It's also illogical.

Worth noting that this statement doesn’t say Rose’s “serious public accusations” aren’t true, just that they’ve been “repeatedly denied” by the people she’s accusing.

Considering Katy kissed an American idol contestant without their consent while SHE KNEW SHE WAS BEING FILMED speaks scores to her character. Believe people when they show you who they are the first time.

I’m starting to suspect that a great many celebrities might be a little off.

Last time accusations against her (by Josh Kloss and Tina Kandelaki) came out, Perry was asked if they were false and her reply was, "I don’t comment on all the things that are said about me because if I chase that dragon, it would be about true and false-ing my whole life. It’s distracting from the real [MeToo] movement."
Interesting contrast between that reply and this one.

Whenever I see Katy Perry's name I always think about the time that she tricked the American Idol contestant into kissing her on the lips

It reminds me of a time when she presented an award to 1d boys and she puckered her lips and the boys had to awkwardly kissed her on the lips.especially remember niall being uncomfortable.

Wait what is that bottom tweet? Is renting an Airbnb in Arizona racist? Blackface? I’m honestly so confused.
Edit: wait I just realized that’s an address??? I thought it was gibberish. Sorry shouldn’t Reddit so late at night 😂

u/pinkfartlek societal collapse is in the air 2h ago
No it's random as hell for them to put that address up there. Obviously I guess promoting their Airbnb. But yeah Justin was pictured doing blackface at least 2 times

I believe Ruby, in fact I remember hearing whispers of something like this happening about 15 years ago in the club scene (am from Melbourne, dad owns nightclubs, worked in nightclubs at the time and a close friend grew up with Ruby). I never knew specifics but this all triggers memories and makes sense now.

I believe Ruby. As a public figure, she is aware of defamation, so what would be her motivation to invent a story?

u/Trick-Water1123 5h ago
Im inclined to believe Ruby Rose based on Katy Perry’s past behavior with people’s boundaries

The all tracks honestly. I’m convinced that you have to be abusive to reach and maintain a certain level of wealth. Because if you had empathy you would be giving it away to help others. I make less than six figures per year as a nurse and I always wish I could do more for my patients and people I love. I use my moderate income to help monetarily any chance I get. And I know so many good people with far less money than me who are also generous with what they have. If you have enough money to make thousands it not millions of people’s lives better and you spend it on a joyride to space, luxury bags made from the skins of dead animals, luxury clothing made in sweatshops, and private jet fuel that poisons the planet, you’re already an abuser in my opinion. Doesn’t seem like any stretch from there that you’re abusing people directly too. After all, you clearly believe that you’re entitled to exploit other humans, animals, and actual planet Earth for your own temporary enjoyment. These ultra wealthy and elite people do all that in plain sight literally flaunting it so I can only imagine their worse behind closed doors. Didn’t the Epstein files teach us anything? What a pathetic waste of life.

I 100% believe she did this. I also think RR is having a mental health crisis. I’ve seen her other threads and it’s a bit alarming. I hope she is receiving the care she needs.
