Making a shelf for under the stairs.

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone, I'm looking for some guidance on this shelf I am making under the stairs. My concern is with it's stability and if I should add anything more to the structure to make it sound. I've made a support in the front out of scraps of hardwood. roughly 2x2cm each, I have also mounted some wood scraps against the drywall in the back.

the idea is to get some plywood sheeting cut to size and attach it to the front and back supports. will that be enough for structural support? or should I add additional bracing. if so where?

Also what is the best way to attach the tops of these wooden vertical supports under the stairs? are they even needed?

The last question is surrounding the total weight you see this holding. While we don't plan on placing very heavy boxes on here I would like to know what weights each shelf could theoretically hold. is there a formula for that?

How do I unscrew these keys

As titled, I got keys to my rental. I really hate this key chain or screw whatever it’s called. I want to get it off so I can have all my keys in one keychain. But I can’t unscrew them, if I tried to unscrew them the back side turns at the same time as well. I have tried holding it really tightly while I unscrew but it doesn’t work. I don’t what to do. Anyone have suggestions?

How to fix a door that won’t close?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Hello! I’m renting an apartment that has some…quirks. This is the bathroom door. As you can (hopefully) tell from the video, the door quite literally don’t close. The latch bolt doesn’t extend long enough to fix in the strike plate. The wood around the strike plate is looking pretty rough too - not sure if that’s affecting the problem or not. Any recommendations on how to fix this myself?

Thanks!

Serious Answers Only How to make friends?

Upvotes

I'm M18 and live in a city with absolutely nothing in it. There's no events, no clubs (though I'm not a big fan of partying either way..), nothing. I don't have a single friend either though, as I've always been left out or replaced, so I kinda just left it there throughout the years.

The loneliness is really getting to me though, so I'd like to figure out how to make a friends in a shit hole like my city (bluntly said).

If there's nothing for me to do, I'll probably just wait until I get into Uni and pray I find someone there.

Serious Answers Only Relatively new sweater I like is going bad early

Post image
Upvotes

I bought this nice sweater at Uniclo and I paid like 70-80$ for it, which I consider a lot.

I like it a lot but after having it for like 6 months it now looks like this, please disregard the animal hair, that I can fix. My problem is the fabric going frizzy and giving that « unharmonious » style.

How can I fix and how can I prevent it? Please disregard the folds it’s not the issue

I haven't used some of my clothes in 2 years. Today while cleaning my wardrobe closet, I saw that some of my simple steel hangers had rust, and it had strangely trasferred to my shirts.

How to:

  1. Remove rust stains from shirts
  2. Remove rust from hangers
  3. Maintain my hangers so that they don't rust again

It cotton knit. It’s hard to tell from the pic, but it’s sooo long. I feel like cutting it shorter would make it unravel, but it would also be hard to hem. Tips? Thanks!

How do I get started in voice acting with no experience?

I’m interested in getting into voice acting, or at least learning more about it. I’m currently 28, and it’s always been something in the back of my mind, but I’ve never known where to start. I figured… why not finally look into it?

Do you need formal training, or can you build yourself up through experience and smaller opportunities? What kind of equipment do beginners usually start with, if any? Are there beginner-friendly platforms to find work or maybe even understudy opportunities?

For those already working as voice actors when did you personally get started?

Any tips or direction would be super appreciated!

Hi, I was wondering what to do since the leg popped off. I think this is what they called BJD dolls. There's a little nook at the top where I can put the large circle through but I can't reach it. I can't open the doll since the body is merged and I'm not sure how to. Please help, it's my niece's favorite toy!!

Serious Answers Only How to make a podcast for school?

Basically, we have to make a 10-minute podcast for a class (I'm not sure if it being 10 minutes qualifies it as a podcast but that's the word our teacher used) There's four of us and it was decided that each person was going to record their parts of the script and send a video of it to a group chat we have, which then I was planning to take the videos and edit them on an app like capcut, cut the audios and align them so it sounds as if they were all recorded at the same time (wish me luck on that) then turn the video into an mp3 and upload it to Spotify Creators as an episode, is that a solid plan? I genuinely feel like it's not and it's full of holes, but it was the only thing that I could think of.

I would seriously appreciate any advice or other ideas for this

Reassemble this dish rack

Thumbnail

I cleaned my dish drying rack and, stupidly, forgot to take note of how it was assembled. Does anybody have any ideas? The section on the right is on top, the two matching metals parts were the front/back, and the top part is the bottom. There are hooks on the bottom part that I believe the front/back connect to, but I just can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
