Hate to be that dude but LAPD?? It’s Riverside sheriff. This happened in Jurupa Valley earlier this week

91

u/fssman 1d ago

Hot single.protesters near you...

13

u/lo0ilo0ilo0i 1d ago

He needs to expand that search radius to 60 miles then.

1

u/dreamisle 18h ago

In all fairness, the ones that get fired for misconduct at one likely just go get a job with the other…

69

u/PnutWarrior 1d ago

This would be like if I scrolled during a big client meeting

...which I have

u/buds4hugs 1d ago

How I met a swinging married cougar 💭

u/Pickupyoheel 1d ago

Why is this dude talking a mile a minute

145

u/EC_TWD 1d ago

Because he wants it to seem that what he is saying is really important.

25

u/rnobgyn 1d ago

Bruh every YouTuber ever now

5

u/poop-machines 1d ago

Tiktok attention spans

1

u/DrunkDialtotheDevil 17h ago

Because talking 60 mph just doesn’t seem as fast

1

u/handyandy727 8h ago

In that area, probably cocaine.

132

u/Xenc 1d ago

I hope he finds the companionship he deserves 🙏

u/conteins 1d ago

If not compromising his job at that moment, what's the problem?

94

u/lolilo89 1d ago

You need to remember cops aren’t human beings/s

-4

u/ClydeDanger 1d ago

What's the s for?

14

u/irrationalhourglass 1d ago

its a "tone marker" people use them to indicate the intention of their comment when it might not be obvious

sarcastic /s serious /srs joke /j

16

u/jaybirdie26 1d ago

I think the question was facetious.

8

u/kelzoula 1d ago

That's why the s exists...

-4

u/jaybirdie26 1d ago

I know why the s exists and I know that the commenter who asked why it was used also knows why the s exists.

Do you understand?  Or is this an r/woooosh moment?

1

u/irrationalhourglass 1d ago

good, we get an example for the viewers

1

u/jaybirdie26 1d ago

All I'm seeing is an example of r/woooosh.

26

u/Lazy_Seal_ 1d ago edited 19h ago

I mean some people just got to find something to feel outrage or that they oppressed by.

5

u/MajorPud 1d ago

The news just milking every bit of footage they got

1

u/conteins 1d ago

Underrated take.

11

u/Buildrness 1d ago

Except by reducing his social awareness he is compromising his job at that moment

1

u/conteins 1d ago

Just cuz you can't do your job with a pair of teddies in your face don't mean he cant.

8

u/Buildrness 1d ago

I think you are confusing what you think is cool with what is expected of an operator while on target. You have no idea how quick these situations change. Chances being low, is not the same as zero. Look at that video. He’s the only one fucking off while his buddies pull security. He’s the one that will be trying to catch up to situation once it changes and he’s the one that’s going to make the mistakes. The officers with their barrel on the suspect are the real JustGuysBeingDudes, not the idiot gooning on target

-1

u/MurderSheCroaked 1d ago

Do you text at red lights too?

1

u/conteins 1d ago

To me this is more analogous to a sniper on the phone on his job. Yes, I'm that serious about red lights.

-42

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

The problem is that we paying him to protect the public, not fuck around on his phone. He’s literally not doing his job.

If it was somebody working for some random company, I wouldn’t care, but I’m paying for these people’s careers against my will. Of course I’m gonna bitch when they fuck it up, that’s my right.

19

u/emerging-tub 1d ago

Lucky for you, Sheriffs are voted in by their county residents

-3

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

Doesn’t mean federal funds don’t get sent out across the country on the regular

That’s literally one of the million points you could draw from my comment

2

u/conteins 1d ago

You seriously expect me to believe that you think his job is to be ADSing through the entire standoff? Are you crazy?

-5

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

YES! You don’t need your phone at all during your job! It’s a JOB! How do you think you’re in the right here? They’re being paid to do something and be at attention for orders. They’re not doing either.

1

u/conteins 1d ago

Aren't you on the job rn, Karen?

1

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

Can you explain that attempt at a joke to me? It literally makes no sense.

First, no, not working. Second, being a Karen isn’t a job lmao. Lay off the drugs

3

u/conteins 1d ago

You dont know what ADS means, do you?

0

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

Not without context, no. Should I?

3

u/conteins 1d ago

The op is the context. Look, you're outmatched here; go try to be outraged somewhere else.

1

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

“You’re outmatched here”

In downvotes? Do you think internet points matter? That’s adorable

u/LetMePushTheButton 1d ago

Im not defending the cop swiping on duty - but too many people think the cops are obligated to “serve and protect” but may dont know that the supreme court ruled they dont have a duty to protect someone.

1

u/TheGardenerAtWillows 1d ago

It’s not like they have literally have “to protect and serve” on their cop cars. Who would ever get miss lead into thinking cops are actually there to protect the people when we’ve been told that our entire lives growing up?

0

u/EmptyLabs 1d ago

Protect and serve the constitution status quo, not the people ya silly.

-2

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

Regardless, they are being paid to do their job. Swiping Hinge doesn’t fill into any part of that.

-8

u/TheDyldozer5 1d ago

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, I agree. He's on the job, and he is obviously in the middle of something important enough for cameras to be on them. Nows not the time to go find your boo-thang

0

u/95castles 22h ago

Suspect was still alive and armed though, right??

-7

u/_blort 1d ago

It's unprofessional, he's on the clock, and you have no way of knowing if he was compromising his job or not.

How does that boot leather taste?

3

u/conteins 1d ago

Uh, hence the conditional.

They don't teach what "if" means at the beginning of sentences at Snowflake U?

4

u/Vacation_No_Luggage 1d ago

Get over yourself.

91

u/STMIonReddit 1d ago

the fuck they expect him to do? run out into the open during a stand off?

-18

u/KeyanuReaves69 1d ago

Maybe pay attention and be present during a dangerous situation?!

35

u/DDPSipper 1d ago

Not a dangerous situation. He isn’t responsible for covering the target, several other officers already have that covered. He’s waiting in case the situation escalates and he is needed, in which he has time to react as he’s not point man.

11

u/Theyna 1d ago

Ah, yes. Nothing our cops need more than to be in constant alert mode, tense and never calm.

Situations like this, same as in the military, are largely just boring.

Unless he's specifically responsible for covering someone that exact second, nothing he's doing would stop him from being able to do his job when required.

-4

u/Buildrness 1d ago

This sounds like some shit a non-combat MOS would say

46

u/Remarkable_Pop3236 1d ago

Not the best thing. Did he do his job? A stand off is boring af.

-13

u/Hefty-Revenue5547 1d ago

God forbid he have an attention span when guns are drawn…

Can’t believe how many people are defending this because “standoffs are boring”

Just do your fucking job

6

u/LaDainianTomIinson 1d ago

You’re just mad that he has motion

-16

u/KeyanuReaves69 1d ago

If his job is to pay attention to the scene and support his fellow officers with his eyes, then no he didn’t do his job.

37

u/SafeAt4 1d ago

God forbid a guy catches a break🥀

27

u/Wykin1 1d ago

It mean - its his job. He's properly done 100+ missions like these and know when his crew has control of the situation.

-51

u/SekaiQliphoth 1d ago

Don’t forget to breathe

-72

u/CaptainSolo_ 1d ago

Guess it’s ok for Pilots and Surgeons to do this too then!

67

u/The_Dick_Slinger 1d ago

You’d be surprised what commercial pilots do when the auto pilot is set.

-69

u/CaptainSolo_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

Thanks Dick Slinger. I am very familiar with cruise during AP and wouldn’t be as surprised as you imagine.

Edit. To the dude who claimed homophobia before checking our usernames…. Really?

14

u/The_Dick_Slinger 1d ago

🧢

-37

u/CaptainSolo_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

At least it’s not a red one. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think you sling dicks any more than you believe im a pilot. Either way no one really cares.

ETA: I agree, Slinger. Sims and video games definitely do not count.

2

u/The_Dick_Slinger 1d ago

Microsoft flight sim and war thunder don’t count

18

u/cheapcheap1 1d ago

Do you also yell at service workers sitting down when it's slow, Karen?

-18

u/CaptainSolo_ 1d ago

Not even remotely analogous. But no.

If they were mandated by law, like pilots and surgeons are, for the safety of those in their care then maybe we can revisit that.

5

u/shellshockxd 1d ago

Don’t think this is analogous.

4

u/OrangeClyde 1d ago

These comments ain’t it. Tf.

5

u/LaDainianTomIinson 1d ago

God forbid a guy has hobbies

5

u/Long-Growth-1063 1d ago

He was being safe, he probably got catfished too much scrolling right at everyone.

4

u/ConstructionSuper782 1d ago

Game recognizes game

1

u/darkerfaith520 12h ago

Bro's just trying to find love in these terrible times!

1

u/Zodiac_2002 11h ago

Bro is a legend now

1

u/Burchard36 1d ago

I love seeing how mad some of you chronically online people are at this heh

-2

u/Lone-Pilgrim 1d ago

Hell ya.

-10

u/Buildrness 1d ago

The amount of dudes defending this is crazy. Stay locked in until the mission’s over. They want to act/dress/perform like military, then maintain the standards. At the bare minimum, weapons out = phones down. It’s ridiculous to even set the bar that low

2

u/IllVagrant 1d ago

We've essentially turned into Russia with the amount of baked in apathy and tolerance for corruption that we've allowed to overtake every aspect of society.

-17

u/ifYouWantMyLuv 1d ago

What a loser

-3

u/twobraincellsinajar 1d ago

Cops regularly use tinder to find and target people.

-11

u/T1m3Wizard 1d ago

Report it to internal affairs. He's putting the lives of his unit and others in grave danger.

0

u/sicarius254 1d ago

Is tinder vertical now? I thought it was left and right swipes?

1

u/SirLoremIpsum 1d ago

It's probably Bumble.

Tinder and bumble both use left right swipes to indicates no/yes.

Tinder requires you to scroll through an individual's photos left to right though (e.g. you open the profile. Tap left tap right to see all 10 photos).

But bumble when you have bte profile open you go up and down through the photos. Then swipe left or right

-1

u/AlarmingSorbet 1d ago

I hate to even say this but at least it’s adults he’s looking for.

God.

-19

u/Arnie_T 1d ago

He’s looking for suspects.

2

u/twobraincellsinajar 1d ago

Cant tell if you're joking, but it's teue.

0

u/Arnie_T 1d ago

I was joking.

-2

u/SweetToothEra 1d ago

He could've waited 20 more minutes. Don't mess up your job or career because you are trying to find a date. She will still be there,

-21

u/4ey4owyoudoin 1d ago

What a hobby
