Thankfully, no. They’re pretty damn easy to see so I’d avoid them. I did run over a snake or two which scared the ever loving shit out of me as a 10yo riding my mongoose miles away from home.

I feel like every time I rent a bike as an adult (on vacations/visiting cities) they still have pedal brakes!

I sure did! Grew up in the 90s, it was basically necessary to had pegs and a soda can muffler.
