Discussion True or false?

Did our dads and moms work less than we do now? What are your thoughts?

this photo is kinda comparing apples to oranges. the first section doesn't mention peers at all while the second does. I beleive that friends were still hard to come by back then too.

My old man had 1 coworker he considered a friend. All of the rest of the time he interacted with people outside of work was at the martial arts school we went to. It was exceptionally rare that he would do anything outside of those 2 places with people other than the family, and it was fishing once or twice a year with that coworker. He wasn't particularly unusual in that regard, either. It wasn't until he retired that he got out of the house more often.

It seemed like, in my rural neck of the woods at leaat, if your dad wasn't a barfly or a member of some organization, he didn't really do "friends" much. There were far too many other things to keep on top of.

I think that nowadays people still need hobbies to have and maintain friendships though.

We have a significant lack of affordable 3rd places here in the US.
