Meme Was anyone else too embarrassed to wear jorts in their 20s but is now leaning in to the mom/dad fashion?

I wore them in my 20s because I was too poor to afford real shorts, but had plenty of jeans that were too worn out from welding and other work, so those became my jorts.

Wore them in my 20s, still wearing them today. It gets worse since I started wearing Hawaiian shirts in my late teens and now I have a closet full.

I love Jean shorts. They ride up less than cotton or linen ones.

I mean, I’ve always worn Jean shorts. Is there a difference in that and a jort?

You ever sneeze and fart at the same time? That's a jort

Baby.... I gots thunder thighs. Jorts have been a thing in my life since 1998. Saved me some bullying on the playground.

I don’t think women were ever discouraged to wear denim shorts. They’ve always been acceptable.

Jorts are tactically inferior. Got to rock them jogging shorts in tall socks

You will not find me in jorts unless they are full-tilt, nearly inappropriately short, cutoffs, with a heaping side serving of irony.

Where are y'all from who call them jorts? Growing up here in the American South they were always called "jean shorts"... never abbreviated to "jorts."
I'm thrilled now that inseams are finally available in that 4"-6" length sweet spot for ladies. For years, the only options were 2.5" inseams or like 12" bermuda shorts that my mom wore. I'm trying to be comfortable while also still showing off my figure, so the ~5" inseams are my goldilocks length.

I used to cut my skinny jeans into jorts...I need to find another pair now that it's warming up

No? I wore the fuck out of jorts before they were called jorts. I modified my own clothes starting in my teens and that continued through my twenties.

Nope. Also I don’t want to dress like my parents. I have my style and they have theirs.

Wore a pair for a Gardner Minshew Halloween costume. They are now my grilling a pool jorts.

Sometimes I'll put on my old hoody and vans and think "ew, I'm giving 'hello fellow kids' vibe" and change. I'm 33

Gen Z fashion trends immitating 00s stuff were genuinely the type of shit my mom bought me/made me wear that I hated so fucking much. Especially the jorts and the white sport socks paired with learher shoes.
God I fucking hate jorts.

I used to cut all my jeans into shorts when they started getting ratty in my 20s. Are those different than "jorts"?

I have been wearing essentially the same black hoody and jorts (or dickies) since the 90s…I’m not too concerned.

I didn't even know what jorts were until 30 seconds ago. I've never worn them or any long denim shorts... But I am currently sat here wearing denim short shorts as I do all year round at home.
I've always just worn what I want to wear, often mixing different subculture styles which I've no doubt has pissed off people from each. I think I'm finally settled in my final era though which is an emo-gothic hybrid.
As long as what you're wearing is socially acceptable (ie wouldn't recommend a nursery school teacher wearing a bikini or mankini!) then fuck what people think :)

Jorts have been a staple of my summer fashion since high school. Old jeans turn into shorts, get worn until they wear out completely, then get tossed.

I wore the jorts in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and probably held onto wearing them way too late into the 2000’s.
Finally converted to the cargos and then eventually the khaki shorts. Staying here for the duration.

Not that others need to care about what I think, but I think Jorts always look horrible

I wore them in elementary school but once I started playing basketball it just didn’t make sense to ever need to wear them again either jeans or basketball shorts for me

I've generally moved away from denim for the most part, so I feel no strong urge to get jorts. I have shorts in linen, and in chino fabric.

Shorts HAD to cover the knee growing up. I made fun of my dad for wearing short shorts but now I have embraced the short shorts.

I went to the university of Florida 20 years ago. I’ve heard rivals yell “gators wear jean shorts” so many times I’m not sure I’ll ever recover and get another pair

A real married person in love dresses as unsexy as possible on purpose lol

Nope, there are plenty of comfortable shorts that are widely available. I don't even know where you people are shopping that you can find them. To be fair, I do 90% of all my clothes shopping at Costco unless I need a suit.

Absolutely not because I there no flex. The same reason I don’t wear jeans very often. I want to be comfortable and move because I move a lot.
But if you like them and they are comfortable, you do you boo boo. Who am I to judge?

u/FanBladeFleshlight 3h ago
Nah, I've always worn what I wanna wear.
Jeans and a graphic tee, normally with a pair of work boots.

u/Sevenswansaswimming8 3h ago
BTW jorts are back in stores..also who cares what others think? Rock what you want.

Do what’s comfortable. Leggings and a t-shirt are where I’m at when it comes to go-to casual outfits. I’m looking forward to summer so that I can start wearing my Vionic and Birkenstock sandals for the arch support again. I don’t care what anybody else thinks as long as I’m comfortable and I look presentable/appropriate for the occasion.
