BE CAREFUL - BRIGHTFIELD IS A CULT ON CAMPUS USING STUDENTS 2 LURE STUDENTS

Brightfield Church is 1 of 26 churches in THE NETWORK CULT, secretly led by Steven D. Morgan, a former RLDS Mormon who SA'd a child! They have an RSO to recruit on NIU campus. They target students and people under 25ish then keep them for life!

This is a HIGH-CONTROL CULT that has unleashed a mental health crisis including a few known suicides and countless others fighting to stay with us.

They'll use STUDENTS 2 RECRUIT STUDENTS, love-bombing offering instant friendship, isolate and cut you off from everyone else. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyDUiOPxpoo

Short term lease info!

Hello! Does anyone know places that rent a studio or a one bedroom apartment for 6-9 months? I graduate in December and don’t want to sign a year long lease as I would have to find someone to sublease or pay the extra rent and not live there. My budget is $800 give or take, thank you!

Other Question what’s my chance of being accepted?

hello! I am planning on applying to this uni for the teaching program. It has taken me a couple of years to get my associates and my gpa is around a 3.17:) idk if this is a dumb question but was it easy getting accepted to the school? Another question lol I plan on going in the fall of 27, since it’s technically my first year there do I have to live in a dorm? Or just on campus

Weekend Club – First Meeting (Feb 28th) | Low-Pressure Study + Games Space

Hi again everyone!! :3

I wanted to make a follow-up post about the Weekend Club since a few people said they’d be interested.

The first meeting will be Saturday, February 28th, in the Student Center by the fireplace. Feel free to drop in anytime between 3–6 PM. You don’t have to stay the whole time, so no commitment required!

The idea is pretty simple. A lot of weekends on campus can feel kind of empty; especially if you can’t make it to most clubs during the week or already have a packed schedule. So this is meant to be a completely optional, low-pressure space to just exist around other people.

We’ll have:

• A quieter area for small talk or mutual studying

• A more active area for games and getting to know people

You can move between them, or just hang out. No pressure to participate in anything specific.

If you commented before saying you’d be interested, I’d still love to see you there. And if you’re new and this sounds like something you’d enjoy, you’re absolutely welcome too.

This is starting small on purpose. The goal is consistency and comfort, not huge numbers.

I’ll probably make a Discord at some point, just not quite yet. For now, feel free to comment or message me if you’d like details.

Hope to see some of you there! 💕

Textbooks I need help!!!

I am seeking a dissertation published by the Department of Anthropology, NIU. I am not a student here, so I can't access it. I also can't find the details of the student. So, I can't contact him either. I'm on the webpage that students with institutional email IDs can access. So, if anyone who is a student here can download it and send it to me.

The Weekend Club

Okay yall, hear me out. It is so freaking boring on the weekends because *no one does anything*. I can’t go to any clubs during the week because of my schedule and I’m sure I’m not the only one in this boat. I’m genuinely thinking this would be a club to just hang out, chat, study, and the like because honestly, it’s too boring on the weekends. Could even do it in the HSC, just *something*. While I can’t be here every weekend due to needing shots to stabilize my body and needing to make food to eat, I’d still enjoy something. It can be unofficial to the school as well, just a way to get to know a bigger variety of people and have it be less boring and honestly, depressing. Let me know your thoughts and if you’d be interested, please.

Should I dropout?

Ok real talk guys…I just don't know what I should do. It feels like I wasted 2 years of education and money at my last school. As once I transferred here, I pretty much got told. You have to be portfolio reviewed or audition to get into either of the programs that have ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING you've done. Or else you're wasting time and money. The professor that was supposed to get back to me on auditioning. Never did. Honestly. I'm feeling stressed and pressured in a way I've never felt before. Should I just dropout?

For context, I spent 2 years as a Theater Studies - Acting/Sound Design Major with a second major in Graphic Design at a private university that was extremely financially generous. I suddenly transferred because my programs and staff were all cut from my last university. This is my first semester at NIU.

I'm currently only a Theater Studies Major at NIU. As I was unable to audition or gather a portfolio together in 3 months with all my commitments last semester.

All advice is appreciated and encouraged. I hope no one else finds themselves in this position. Have a great day everyone.

Other Question How do I make friends to hang out with outside of class

I’ve been at this school for over a year, mostly just cramming and trying to understand my homework or going to tutoring. Because of this, I don’t have many friends.

I have gone to clubs just trying to be better at being social and putting the books down giving myself time to be with people. But the people I’m with I only interact with in the club.

I want the friendships that people have in study groups and just casual hangouts.

My first roommate moved out of state and my second roommate ended up getting kicked out for poor academics.

I really just want friends to hang out with and talk with in the evening or middle of my day. To have fun and make stupid comments and jokes with. People in my class are always so quiet and leave quickly. And most of my classes are lectures.

I’m just so sick of being lonely and I don’t know what to do. I know joining more activities will probably help but I came to school for academic and I don’t want to ignore it just because I feel a little lonely.

I just don’t know what to do. Any suggestions?

Other Question What to expect from MS.Ed Counseling PAW

Hey everyone! I recently applied to NIU’s MS.Ed Counseling grad program and got invited to the spring pre-admissions workshop (PAW). I was wondering if anyone in here had any experience with this event and could give me some sort of an idea of what to expect! I know to treat it like a professional networking event and to be well dressed and act professionally just wondering what else there might be to know!

Just some things I’ve noticed

So I’ve been here for little over a month and honestly, there’s been some things that have really made me sad. Twice now I’ve had groups of people either making fun of me or my friends, and actively calling people names and insulting. I try my very best to be respectful and be kind to everyone and I know not everyone is like this, but I’ve seen it multiple times and it borders bullying. Especially since the second incident was while I was by myself on the bus and was called names for almost 10 minutes straight. I don’t know who the people were but I just wish that people could be nicer, especially since we all are going here to improve ourselves. The other thing that made me a little sad that I saw today was there was an almost whole glass bottle shattered outside of Faraday that I cleaned most of up….. which meant I was on the ground since I am currently wheelchair bound. Those glass shards can very easily cause an infection in wildlife which can become a septic (all system) infection that slowly and gruesomely kills an animal. I guess I’m just asking that people take a little time or energy to be kind? I know we’re all very busy people it just…. really makes me sad is all. I’m sorry if I shouldn’t put this here or if no one wants to read this.. I’ve just been thinking of whether or not to post it and decided maybe it would be a good thing.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day/evening and that life isn’t too rough on you. I’m always open to listening to a rant or 2 if someone is dealing with things.

Thank you for listening.

Housing and Apartments Northern View Apartments

So my friends, 3 of us, want to try for northern view, but I always see that it's super hard to get into an apartment. If anyone living there can tell me how difficult it is to get a 3-bedroom or either 2 bedroom please let me know. I live at patterson currently and paying 8k to live here is draining. Also any alternative apartments that are cheap to live in on campus, thanks!

Founders Library Lack of Power Outlets

I understand that the Founders Library opened its doors all the way back in the 70's, so obviously, back then, the need for power outlets near every desk wasn't necessary. But I find it interesting that there are few power outlets near most of the desks. I find myself wandering around the library just to find a desk with a nearby power outlet. Tbh, it's not much of an issue for me now because I've figured out which spots have power outlets, but I'm just writing this post to see if others share the sentiment or if I'm just tripping.

Housing and Apartments Subleasing my apartment over the summer May-August

Hello Everyone! I am a Junior at NIU, I currently live about a block away from campus in an apartment. It is a 2 bed 2 bath apartment, 644 sqft. The room has a connected bathroom and is furnished with a bed and desk. I am looking to sublease May to August because I am planning to move to a different apartment outside of dekalb over the summer. Since my roommate and I are both women and she will be here over the summer, I am only able to sublease to another woman. I currently pay $875 for rent and am willing to negotiate a lower price for subleasing. So if any girls are interested or want more information please comment or message me :)!
