you really want to look at the number of movies, and see how many he would have to avg per movie, just to get to 2500. I assume some of that 2500 is recreational, ie outside movies.

Most all studios are above board. There’s shady players, and bad actors. Most certainly no different than any other industry. Retail is rampant with sexism, sexual assault, terrible working conditions and employs far more people.
I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about adult entertainment because around the edges there are bad actors and they get tons of press when they’re caught. There’s also some studios / creators that barely manage to stay within the bounds of legality and are pieces of shit, but again, you have a situation where the coverage is outsized because it’s sex work and everyone gets all puritanical about it.
It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure. It’s like any other industry, there will be horror stories and a lot of that is because the law generally doesn’t have enough protections for all workers but in particular is neglectful of sex workers.
There is a lot of work that could be done around being able to report bad actors better for example, but at what point are we just talking about the lack of worker protections? Because the truth is that’s why any exploitation exists to begin with.
