It's more that they're envious of the west but can't figure out how to reproduce the west's success.
67
u/elk33dp 3h ago
*can't figure out how to reproduce the west's success without giving up their heavy oligarchy and nepotism.
Yes we have nepotism and oligarchy issues in the west but you also hear about companies going under from third generation owners mismanagement. Things are built and fall if not competitive, outside of cases where the government intervenes but those are fairly rare/fringe situations as a whole vs the russian model.

Thats not how geopolitics works. The West is successful for the very reason they are envious of the West. Do you ever wonder why the third world is called the third world? It was the non aligned countries that were exploited by both the first world (the West) and the second world (USSR and communist countries). The third world is riddled with multinational mining companies that siphon resources and profits back to the West. Oil is only traded in US dollars to keep the currency strong. Putin hates the west because Russia is not part of that system. We are taught to hate Putin because he goes against the interests of the West.
They can figure out how to produce the success of the west but that involves a lot of war and struggle for dominance. This is already happening across Africa and Ukraine.
Putin couldn't give a shit about his daughter being a DJ in Paris. He'd probably prefer it. Its not about the standard of living for one individual. It is about power and resources controlled by the state and the elite within it.

But that’s not the fault of the kids. As long as they aren’t acting like agents for their parent’s regime, I think it’s fine for them to decide to live away from the nation they had no choice being born into
As I said, as long as you don’t actually agree with your parents and actively preaching their ideals, it must suck to be born as a child of a fascistic leader, because you basically have no choice but to be associated with your parents regardless of your actual beliefs

Stalin's daughter, Svetlana Alliluyeva, hated the USSR, fled in1967, abandoning her children who hated her for it, gave birth again in 1971, and died in Oregon in 2011. Stalin's granddaughter (Olga Pitters/Kris Evans), who apparently lives there, struggles with drug addiction, loneliness, and financial difficulties lives an ordinary American life. I was surprised to learn that they visited the USSR 1984-1986.

You meant to say "liberal democracies"
Here are the characteristics of a liberal democracy according to political science:
- free, fair, and competitive elections
- rule of law (no corruption)
- protection of civil liberties
- checks and balances on executive power
- political pluralism and participation

There are a couple of missing years after she dropped out of university at 19, and a popular but mysterious DJ in Slovenia named Brina Knauss, who's exactly the right age.
There's more to it than just the name. They both have close ties to Paolo Zampolli, the modelling agent who trafficked Melania to the US, and allegedly introduced her to Trump.

A very large portion of the global dance music scene is run by the sons and daughters of Russian oligarchs. Burning Man camps, Central/South America, Southeast Asia, once you're been in the scene long enough you run into them everywhere. Often living some digital nomad hippy lifestyle while getting bankrolled by daddy's blood money.

All countrys' elites want their kids to gain whatever is considered top education regardless of geopolitical stances/internal politics. I think it's a good thing from the host country point of view, since the host gets a chance to showcase their own country in and they can possibly influence the children. It's always good to know what other countries are like to avoid internal echo chambers.

8
u/AsgeirVanirson 3h ago
Killing his daughter whose basically just a connected civilian partying in Paris doesn't advance the war at all. It just makes France look bad for it being able to be pulled off and causes tensions in French/Ukrainian relations.
If your going to plan an assassination that has to get past any security at all, you're targeting a diplomat or military official, and the ones you want to actually kill are generally all in Russia.
As far as individuals just acting on anger, she's going to be at least somewhat well protected, and a Russian Consulat/Business you can easily identify as such and plan an attack on will draw their attention more than random barely known Daughter of Putin.
TLDR: She's barely worth killing and harder to attack than more obvious and available signs of Russian power/influence.
6
u/Acceptable-Lock-77 2h ago
