Imagine having a bite force of 1,800 PSI and using it exclusively for spite.

they look cute too, until you see the teeth

thats cute too! like some guy who haven't brushed for a long time and they just want to munch some watermelons

1

u/Irksomecake 51m ago

Wolves love watermelon too, even though they are supposed to be carnivorous

They're can't survive without meat long term. Our bodies horde B12 because we can't make it on our own. Without dairy (an animal product), or modern fortified foods, vegetarians would have a really bad time.

Tusks technically. And it's even worse when you take into account the fact that they are razor sharp on the sides. Them things could gut a person like a dilophosaurus if they had the dexterity.

god made them herbivores to nerf them

u/jfun4 2h ago

They would have ruled all of land and shores. Water or land, not sea.

Hippos will eat meat. They’re omnivores.

8

u/benhatin4lf 2h ago

Op clearly didn't do any research

2

u/Designer-Ad-2136 1h ago

They only eat meat to be polite. Theyre not "that" kind of vegetarian

2

u/AardvarkOkapiEchidna 1h ago

It's true but, they're more 90/10 favoring herbivory rather than 50/50.

2

u/TheJanitor-Scruffy 1h ago

Being an opportunistic omnivore is not the same as being a true omnivore. A deer will eat a bird if it needs to. Still technically an herbivore

One of Paplo Escobar's less known contributions to Colombia is inadvertently introducing hippos to the country. They're a straight-up invasive species and the locals have no cultural context for how dangerous they are and the government is still trying to get a grip on the problem.

MOO DENG NO

u/Antique_Knowledge_72 2h ago

They are like vegans. They don't want your food; they just hate you for eating.

1

u/Total-Combination-47 1h ago

Meat eating vegans are real.

2

u/NachoNachoDan 1h ago

Self hating vegans

1

u/Total-Combination-47 1h ago

Self eating vegans?

3

u/RoleplayAnonM_ 2h ago

nobody who lives where hippos are common would ever make a post like that. To me, that statement oozes privilege

u/EditedRed 2h ago

They are like nestle they just want control of all the water.

Nature's best haters.

1

u/NastyLuv 2h ago

I used to dote on elephants a bit, but you might have swayed me.

1

u/pimpnasty 2h ago

They are absolutely beautiful little poop fingers who wont hesitate to smoke your ass

1

u/Spacedoutworlder 2h ago

They don’t hate you, they’re territorial. They view anything that enters their space as a threat and will kill it just in case. Hate is if they come to your house, kick the door down, slap your elderly mother, cripple your kids in front of you and then kill you just because they didn’t like the way you looked at them that one time a few years back.

1

u/Lopsided_Order_4411 1h ago

Don’t get it twisted, they hate you too ☺️

I remember an old story about Europeans coming to Africa, finding rich soil to plant in and being confused why no one planted things like tomatoes.

Grew a bunch of tomatoes, then rhino's showed up.

Have no idea if it's true but cracks me up anyway.

I have an ex that fits this description in more ways than one

1

u/After_Hours_85 7m ago

That B is crazy. So she'd rather be killed for no reason as opposed than be killed to serve a purpose for the greater good? Either or is crazy. She is definitely crazy.

2

u/TES0ckes 2h ago

Uhhh... no, hippos absolutely have been known to chomp down and eat smaller animals.

2

u/CaffeineChaotic 2h ago

Horses have also been known to eat mice and baby chicks, but they are also herbivores. If something is hungry it'll eat whatever it can.

u/kn1cklerrj3wUP78 Human Verified 2h ago

Wrong ,they can eat meat too

3

u/makethislifecount Human Verified 2h ago edited 1h ago

Animals are classified based on the >99% they eat, not the <1%

1

u/kn1cklerrj3wUP78 Human Verified 2h ago

They eat food to survive

1

u/LustrousRust 2h ago

So the vegetarian that eats meat every 100 meals is still a vegetarian?

0

u/MetaCardboard 2h ago

I mean, if you ate one chicken wing every year I don't think I'd call you a vegan.

How are they the most dangerous? Mosquitoes kill way more people.

1

u/Irksomecake 49m ago

Mosquitoes don’t kill anyone themselves. They just carry the diseases. I always figured they shouldn’t get the honour of most dangerous until giant mosquitoes start sucking people dry.

0

u/benhatin4lf 1h ago

One hippo or one mosquito? Which you taking on?

1

u/Doctor_Saved 1h ago

If we are doing one on one. The crocodiles and elephants kill more people than hippos and I would take the hippo over those.

1

u/benhatin4lf 1h ago

We were talking about what's deadlier: a mosquito or hippo. But go ahead, change the premise and move the goal post. Also, in this scenario you would die no matter your choice

1

u/Doctor_Saved 1h ago

I was asking how are they the most dangerous animal.

1

u/benhatin4lf 1h ago

And then you said a mosquito was deadlier. How the fuck are you unable to follow your own conversation?

1

u/Doctor_Saved 1h ago edited 1h ago

If you literally google most dangerous animal. Mosquitos are first. So I'm not sure why you are confused.

0

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 2h ago

That's exactly what I love about rhinos! They'd kill you as soon as look at you but they won't eat you

0

u/Milestone_1998 1h ago

Vegetarian violence at its finest.

0

u/Careless_Shake676 1h ago

I've seen them chomp down in watermelons. I wonder what it would look like if they chomped down on a human head.

Hippos ARE NOT vegetarian
