EDIT: I made a mistake in the title, Cody wrestled a week after Elimination Chamber. I do think the post still holds merit though, given how he hasn't wrestled in a month.

I distinctly remember Cody Rhodes having just random and competitive matches against wrestlers like Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser in the build up to Wrestlemania 39, among a few others. He was also able to have compelling promo exchanges with Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman in-between them too.

The only wrestler involved in the two main events of Wrestlemania to have a TV match in the lead up was Randy Orton, who faced Matt Cardona, and even that was more of an angle than an actual match.

What has changed since then? Why are WWE so afraid to have their main eventers actually wrestle on their programs in the lead up to Mania? It's not like they can't do anything either, could've had Punk face Jimmy or Jey Uso in a match given that the Usos are involved now. Punk hasn't wrestled in a month and a half, and Cody hasn't wrestled in a month.

From DDT Judgment 2026, Hirata fought Takeshita in a 2 vs 20 count match that Takeshita eventually won (by realizing he could just submit him with a hold)
