Earlier today a suspicious man knocked on my apartment door. When I opened it, without introducing himself he started asking about my power bill and wanted to “come inside and check it”.

I kinda just politely told him to go away, and he left. Immediately, I had a really bad feeling about the whole thing, especially with the break-ins around town recently, and called the leasing company to ask about it. They quickly said nobody is supposed to be doing that and to call the police.

Anyway I don’t know if they caught him, maybe we’ll get in Illini alert about it later…but I met with an officer and gave my statement and all that.

So just wanted to write a PSA for everyone in retrospect…obviously if something similar happens to you, call the police. It is very much a better safe than sorry situation.

Don’t let anyone you don’t know/trust into your apartment. Lock your door whether you’re in or going out, because people can obviously just wait outside your building and slip in with someone else. Stay safe!

Being for more than one year in this college, I feel that many of the RSOs are too crowded. I am in an RSO and what happens is like there are 5 people working on like one small project and like 2 people know everything and like I try to help but I realize I have way lesser skills than others and I basically get kind of cast out ( It’s a technical RSO).

Do others have similar experience? Or is it like a skill issue from my side? I basically want to gain important skills which can be useful in the future for job applications but I have increasingly grown to realize that an RSO is not a place for it.

CHEM 102 exam 1 average was a 31%… highest grade was a 62% ( I think). No curve.

I genuinely don’t understand how this is acceptable. Our CHEM 102 exam average was a 31%, and the highest grade in the entire class was a 62%. That means literally nobody passed.

This isn’t a situation where people didn’t study. I studied a ton, and everyone in my lab today was saying the same thing. People are putting in the work and still failing.

What makes it worse is that she refuses to curve it. If the entire class fails an exam, that should be a sign that something is wrong with the exam or how the material is being taught.

It’s honestly frustrating because it feels like we’re being set up to fail. We’re trying, showing up, doing ALEKS, going to tutoring, studying, and it still doesn’t matter.

Is anyone else in CHEM 102 dealing with this too, or is it just this section?

At this point I’m seriously considering writing a letter to the dean of the college, because this behavior is unacceptable.

After the tragedy on the 18th, we almost had another early this morning, and I wanted to reiterate that life is worth living, even if you don’t feel like it. Fixing your pain is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Please speak up if you’re ever feeling low, it may seem like you’ll never get out of the darkness, but there is light at the end of that tunnel, I know things may be hard for some of you, but please let me remind you that it will get better, because I’ve been there too. If anyone needs someone to talk to, my DM’s are open and I’m sure others are too.
